Editorial Reviews

On January 31, 2020, Mascot Label Group/Provogue Records will release Gary Moore - Live In London, a milestone in blues rock history. Some shows are so momentous, they pass into rock ‘n’ roll folklore. When Gary Moore stepped onto the stage of London’s Islington Academy on December 2nd, 2009, it was a true one-off, showcasing one of blues-rock’s biggest names in an intimate club setting. Nobody in the sell-out crowd that night suspected the great Irish bluesman was close to the end. But when Moore passed away fourteen months later, aged just 58, the show took on added poignancy, cherished as one of his last stands, kept alive in the memories of those who attended. Now, a decade later, the release of Live From London on Mascot/Provogue resurrects the much-missed Irishman, bringing his blazing talents back into the spotlight, catching the sparks of that night in the capital, and bottling a performance that stands amongst Moore’s very best.

5 Stars
Sonic Brilliance on 2 Blue LP’s.
The quality of this recording greatly exceeded my expectations. You can hear everything. Every little tap on the cymbals. The passion is his playing. The soul in his voice. This is audio perfection for a live album. Perfect balance in the mix. The music and playing is phenomenal as well. Moore displays skill and variance in style to not become annoyingly redundant, like listening to Joe Bonamassa or Zakk Wylde play. The albums did not come With the bonus materials mentioned in the review of the CDs. No guitar picks. It did come with a download code, gate full packaging and two bright blue LPs that may set the standard for live recordings. You will not regret this purchase.

I've been around for over 70 years and have listened to the best guitarists for many years - Hendrix, Winter, Vai, Satriani, SRV, Eddie V, Robben Ford, Carlton, and up to today with Joe B, Haynes, Trout, and Shepherd. In my opinion, Gary Moore is the best of them all. The most versatile in multiple genres that I have ever heard. This double vinyl album, to me, proves my point. What a shame he is no longer with us.

Spectacular concert. Perfect pressing! Gorgeous blue vinyl that was to my surprise dead quite. 2 albums not 1 pop. Not in the lead in or the run out....silent. super affordable. If your a fan there is no reason not to pick this up. Comes with a download card and it's also a gatefold filled with simply wonderful liner notes. Highly recommended.

What I loved about this album is that the songs are full length as opposed to the cd. For instance, the song “Have you heard” is seconds short of 10 minutes, on vinyl it’s 17 minutes +. Yes 5 stars plus

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Live Record!
Reviewed in Canada on March 8, 2020
The truly great guitarists take studio recordings to the next level playing live. This is certainly the case for Gary who had more live recordings than most in his career. Live in London is spectacular with songs ranging from ’ Still Got The Blues’ to ’ Bad For You Baby’ along with the epic closer ‘Parisienne Walkways’. Who would have known so shortly after performing this set Gary would pass away though he was clearly out of shape. Regardless that didn’t affect his playing and tone that is like no other guitarist. Not to go unmentioned is how good a vocalist he was and how solid the backing members of his bands always were which is so evident on this recording. Live in London is an excellent live album exhibiting why Gary was one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

On one last note it’s best to purchase the record vs. cd as the latter has a couple of songs with shorter arrangements. The cd is still excellent but don’t understand why the Mascot Group just didn’t make it a two disc package? I don’t think Gary would be too happy and think it’s a cardinal sin to edit any of his live performances.

The Who,Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple ,Z.Z.
