I’ve been looking at this for some time. It was time to change from my pretty good Lenco. Comparing with others in a similar price range, and the Rega 2. All the reviews are excellent. So I took the plunge and it arrived today. Setup is so simple and fast. The sound is superb! I run it through my late 70’s and amp and it’s just fantastic. So much better than my lenco. No motor noise, crisp audio and a delight. First album on it. Wish you were here. Highly recommend the Rega 1.

Rega ha fatto epoca con i suoi bracci e con i suoi giradischi. Una reputazione mai scalfita in 40 anni di attività. Gli audiofili lo sanno benissimo. A chi non è un appassionato di hi-fi basti sapere che i loro modelli di giradischi e bracci, nelle diverse fasce di prezzo, sono competitivi con i migliori concorrenti a livello mondiale, e lo dicono sia gli appassionati più esperti che i critici più quotati. Sono fatti assodati.

Veniamo a questo piccolo capolavoro. Studiato per essere plug'n'play, concetto per vari motivi inapplicabile alla lettera ai giradischi, è certamente quanto di più vicino si possa fare realmente. Si monta in 2 minuti ed è letteralmente impossibile sbagliare. Non è richiesto alcun accessorio né alcuna misura, salvo controllare che sia piatta la base d'appoggio (basta una livella). Non è amplificato per cui serve un ingresso "phono" dedicato, oggi disponibile anche in diversi sistemi di altoparlanti attivi e presente nei classici "ampli integrati" dell'hi-fi tradizionale. La testina ha lo stilo (puntina) intercambiabile e un costo basso (sia per la testina intera che per il ricambio). Il suono è davvero godibile, dinamico e preciso, lucido, ben equilibrato fra le diverse gamme di frequenza. Il minimo per scoprire il contenuto dei dischi senza troppe approssimazioni. Mi spingerei a dire che per la maggior parte degli usi ed è una soluzione giusta praticamente per quasi tutti, escludiamo solo i perfezionisti, gli appassionati di reliquie d'epoca tipo 78 giri e i DJ (che hanno bisogno di apparecchi con altre caratteristiche, come loro sanno bene). Personalmente mi considero un perfezionista, ma sono anche un padre di famiglia, e questo è per la famiglia. Il design è perfetto per un arredamento moderno. Io ho comprato la versione bianca opaca per il mio living con mobili e infissi bianchi e ho sbalordito mia moglie che ha detto: finalmente hai capito di che cosa c'era bisogno... io sono d'accordo: se è in uno spazio di tutti e ci si deve vivere e convivere, è giusto lasciare all'estetica e alla semplicità d'uso le loro parti. Il grande merito della Rega è aver saputo rispondere a questi requisiti senza fare un "finto" Rega. Questo oltre a essere bello, costa poco e suona tanto. Per questo non mi pare esagerato parlare di piccolo capolavoro.

Lo ascolto anch'io con piacere anche se apprezzo volentieri qualcosa di più ricco, trasparente, olografico. Ma ogni apparecchio al suo contesto d'uso, per il living questo lo trovo perfetto. Di certo molto meglio di un sistema delicato, magari con una testina costosa che potrebbe facilmente essere danneggiata da un uso improprio o da un urto accidentale.

Attenzione comunque che si tratta di un giradischi totalmente manuale, l'operatività è semplicissima, ma lo stilo va poggiato sul solco muovendo direttamente il braccio e anche alla fine del disco bisogna sollevarlo a mano. Fatto questo è fatto tutto. Enjoy!
