I really like their sounds being an old fan of Zep & Rush. They are super talented and generally ha a positive message of hope. Feels like good old 60s & 70s rock and roll.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to ship this "Cardboard" covered CD in a bubble wrap 8" X 10" ENVELOPE should probably be fired! The CD was warped. I sent it back immediately, but ... the SECOND CD arrived the following day in better condition.
Other than that, the three songs I heard before the warp, sounded pretty good.

Well, the NEW Replacement CD has arrived and the packers used a smaller, better designed paper envelope that didn't allow the CD to get bent and all the songs sound good.
Yes, they do sound like a Led Zeppelin imitation band doing their own music. I heard a Dodge Ram commercial and I said "that sounds like Greta Van Fleet!" and found they used "For Every Season" which tells me Van Fleet DOES have their OWN music style now.
The music on this CD "Starcatcher" is heading them in a mystical transition in the realms of "Houses of the Holy" (by Zeppelin). They put some nice acoustic numbers on this "Waited All Your Life" and "Meet the Master" Other songs "Sacred the Thread" is like "Misty Mountain Stop" and Jake Kiszka (Guitarist) has done a great job on lead.
Keep on keeping on!

They are working it for their fans, really paying their dues and showing us that they're not just masters of pulling from and channeling great influences (either consciously or unconsciously). They're still really young, so I'm being patient with their evolution. It's beautiful to watch.

Fate of the Faithful is the starting track. I hear Heart! 4/5

Waited all your life is just okay. Doesn't do much for me. 3/5

The Falling Sky is a soulful rocker. Again, I'm reminded of Heart and the power of Anne Wilson's voice. 4/5

Sacred the Thread was a journey of a track. 4/5

Runaway Blues was a wild runaway, but at only a little over a minute long, I was hoping for a longer jam. They've yet to really get into some of the longer grooves you'd see at their live show. This one cuts out just as it gets into some good guitar solos. I don't understand. 1/5

Indigo Streak is just okay, kind of a dud filler track for me. 3/5

Frozen Light brings me back in. 4/5

The Archer is right up my alley. It has the ups and downs in tempo from hard chords & screams to light acoustic finish. 5/5

Meeting the Master was an epic success too. 5/5

Farewell for Now was just an okay finish. Not the best song to close on. 3/5

Again, like their previous work, I like most of it all very much. It blows me away to listen to a full album like this today, but there aren't any standout tracks that I feel I really really love. Maybe some will grow on me.

This band confuses me. I love listening to them, yet I'm not really in love with most of their individual songs. They just don't stick with me. Broken Bells is one I love & maybe the only one that lingers for me. A few others are really great on the first three albums, but most of their tracks don't sink into my memory and haunt me like great songs should do. I don't know why, but I think I'm waiting with high expectations for the big one from them.

I think what these young lads need is a new producer. I know Cobb is a big name, but he just wasn't right for them. GVF needs someone who knows rock music & will push these guys to the limits of new exploration. Where are the eight minute jam outs? The ten minute psychedelic epics? Or the four minute singles. Mix it up. Go somewhere new. They have it in them, but it needs to be tapped.

Robert Plant was asked a few years ago if anyone in the music industry is likely to take up the reigns of Led Zeppelin. He said.......yes there is a band called Greta Van Fleet whose singer has taken Robert Plants voice. Greta Van Fleet has been around now for a few years. They are well known for doing Led Zeppelin covers. They have a new album out entitled Starcatcher. If you are nostalgic for the 70s type rock..........Greta Van Fleet is your remedy. They have the recipe that made Led Zeppelin. It is rare to hear this kind of music in 2023. Greta Van Fleet has succeeded in bringing this art form back. This album is very good............and is not covers of Led Zeppelin. These are original songs, but they have the hint of the Zeppelin sound. With the approval of Robert Plant.........these guys are going to go far in revitalizing a music industry that has been lacking for creativity.

In the first two releases, the vocals were more up front and "intimate". On Garden's Gate, they were a little bit in the background to give a more "epic saga" type of sound. On Starcatcher, in my opinion, it was overdone. Firstly, there is too much compression, making the CD overly loud but also making the mix very muddy with audible distortion and artifacts throughout the CD. I normalize all my music using a modern music library program. The most I have seen (even on modern heavy metal music) is -10 or -11 decibels to normalize the volume. The tracks on this CD average -12 to -14 decibels! Again, the distortion is clearly audible at times. Add to that, an overuse of delay and reverb (mainly on the vocals) and it gets very messy and, unfortunately, hard to listen to. The songs are good, in my opinion, but, as others have mentioned in their reviews, the vocals can be hard to discern, and the overall mix is very fatiguing to the ears.

I'm hearing Presence (for much of this album), and Led Zeppelin III (Meet The Master, Farewell For Now), with some mystical goings on in the videos to boot. But to label these young men as a very good Zep revivalist band is no insult but neither is it fair. Greta Van Fleet are (apart from their namesake Lady In Michigan) unique, especially live. Interested to hear what others think of the huge use of echo in this production, but I'm liking it. Greta Van Fleet IV to be their triumph? Four real talents in this band, go for it!

Maturity is sinking in. Great collection of music. Keep it up guys. You're making a 73 year old rocker feel, well, sixty again. (BTW, using my wife's account)

Insomma la polemica potrebbe andare avanti all'infinito.
