Editorial Reviews

Reissue on vinyl of the first PJ Harvey studio album in the Island Records catalogue, and her second studio album. Produced by Steve Albini and originally released in May 1993, Rid Of Me features the singles `50ft Queenie' and `Man-Size'. The album charted at number 3 in the UK. Reissue is faithful to the original recording and package, cutting by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering under the guidance of Steve Albini.

I'm on FIRE!

I'm on FIRE!
Why? Rid Of Me is one the greatest albums of the 90s. And what a progression from Dry...who ever would have guessed somebody could go from Lilith Fair to The Jesus Lizard in only a year's time? You know this reissue sounds good too, what with Weston and Albini–that's 2/3 of Shellac, cheese!–behind the controls.Five stars.----------The photos are of a promo disc given away outside of venues on the Rid of Me tour. It seems funny now, but PJ Harvey was getting a big major-label push then. And believe it or not, Radiohead was the second OPENING ACT at the show I saw!The stuff blocked by the Tower Records sticker says June, 19 New Orleans, 20 Atlanta, July, 1 Chicago, 3 Minneapolis.
