    Product Description

Building on Audio-Technica’s analogue heritage and over 50 years of Japanese audio design, the AT-LP5X features upgraded technology while keeping the contemporary style and acclaimed performance of its predecessor, the AT-LP5. The LP5X retains the J-shaped tonearm, a design inspired by the classic Audio-Technica models of the 1960s and ’70s, and features a metallic gimbal suspension system and precision bearings to mitigate tracking errors. The tonearm also includes an adjustable counterweight and anti-skate control and comes fitted with a lightweight (9.3g) AT-HS6 headshell and the black AT-VM95E Dual moving magnet stereo cartridge. Constructed of anti-vibration damping materials with heavy-mass metal chassis inserts, the AT-LP5X turntable has been designed to limit low-frequency acoustical feedback. Its precision-machined, die-cast aluminum platter is powered by a direct-drive, low-noise motor, ensuring stable, on-axis rotation at 331/3, 45 and 78 RPM. A 5mm thick rubber-damping mat, which isolates from low frequency feedback while providing a highly stable surface for all LP formats, tops the platter. The AT-LP5X features a built-in switchable MM/MC phono/line preamp that enables it to connect directly to a computer, home stereo, powered speakers and other components that have no dedicated turntable input. The selection of MM/MC cartridges allow for an easy upgrade to a moving coil with additional equipment. The turntable is also equipped with a USB output for direct connection to a computer.

    I LOVE this Turntable!
I upgraded from a Victrola Pro series turntable since the ability to customize that one was very limited. With this turntable, I am able to change out headshells in a snap and it's not so sensitive to my bouncy hardwood floors. I wanted a turntable able to play 78 rpm shellac records so this was the perfect choice, and it proved to be leaps and bound from my last player. Yes, it cost more, but it was definitely worth it and it's a nice looking piece of equipment as well.

Purchased for my fiance as a christmas gift, I researched extensively on Reddit and most audiophiles recommend this one as as a high end record player for people new to the hobby. The ability to plug it into the computer means you can play the audio through your computer speakers which was really awesome for us. Would definitely recommend!

This turntable was definite improvement over my older ATLPUSB120. Very easy to set up.

Note to Audio Technica: I would have bought the ATLP7 if it had had the USB feature of the ATLP5

Only misgiving. The tone arm clamp/lock on my old turntable broke quite some time ago, and I got used to living without it and just being careful. The clamp on this new model doesn't feel any more sturdy than the previous one. I am used to going without, so I am using the clamp only when absolutely necessary.

Otherwise this is a great turntable!

    Pros:-
Fantastic sound, Good tonearm (no bearing play), Great budget cartridge fitted (sounds really good and tracks well (IGD minimal)), Extremely low noise, Flat platter, accurate platter speed & stability, inaudible Wow & flutter, has onboard preamp which isn't too bad at all (but obviously a lot better through external phono pre-amp, less HF rolloff and greater dynamics)

    Cons:-
Plinth resonance/feedback at higher volumes/SPL (>90dB in general), low-mid bloom at moderate volumes probably as a result of the plinth resonance, but doesn't sound objectionable, in fact adds slight fullness to the sound on some lesser recordings, Bit utilitarian looking.
p.s. The aforementioned cons do not apply for normal/safe listening levels ~86dB

To get the best out of the TT, place it as far as you can from you speakers. And maybe look into more damping for the lower plinth.

    Reliability:-
Can't really comment as not had it long enough yet, but seems very well made (albeit plasticy) for its price-point.

Totalmente recomendable

5.0 out of 5 stars Das "audiophile" Arbeitstier und Dreher für alle Fälle
Reviewed in Germany on October 8, 2020
Style: Manual Direct Drive Hi-Fi TurntableVerified Purchase

Mal so, mal so.
