Optimal Performance in a Small Package

Our 3020s are bookshelf speakers specially designed for detailed and precise sound in small and medium-sized rooms. They’re able to achieve this by utilizing a revolutionary 2-in-1 ring dome tweeter and clever bass driver made from Aramid fiber/papers (similar to Kevlar and Teflon). This ensures that the sound delivered is open and realistic, creating an extraordinary three-dimensional soundstage.

Deep & Powerful Bass

To experience ultimate depth from your music, we have included a bass cone with a larger diameter and have extended the big bass response with fast dynamics to offer a noticeably more powerful sound than the 3010s. Ideal for larger rooms, the 3020s bring greater dynamic realism and are easy to drive, making them ideal for less powerful amplifiers.

Beautiful Sound Packaged in a Premium Finish

Our 3020s can be stand mounted and are available in graphite finish that complement your environment.

    My first Q Acoustics speaker - They are Great!
    Had not heard Q Acoustics before, then Amazon had a great deal on the Q3020 and I ordered a pair. Two days later they arrived and I hooked them up to Class D amp with very sufficient power. Right out of the box they sounded powerful with very nice dynamics. Now with over 50 hours usage on them, I can say what an excellent value. The speaker is milled from a chunk of an acrylic-like substance, which feels completely solid like a brick. No cabinet resonance whatsoever, internal bracing is top notch and these speakers truly do punch way above the price point. Bass is outstanding for a 5" bookshelf, and they don't sound bright or screechy with any of the amplifiers I have used with them. The soundstage they present is excellent, and the magnetic grills are easy to place & remove. Was glad to be able to try a pair of these 3020's, as the build quality is superb and I would expect them to hold up very well for many years if treated properly. Great all-around speaker.

    I’ve been on an audio quest for the last 7-8 years since retirement. I’ve abused the return policy of Amazon and crutchfield to the point of near expulsion. I was attempting to satisfy the the missing piece of me that no longer performs. I sang in bands since the beatle days. Mostly party bands. Just fer fun but stayed booked pretty regular. Stopped performing and took up the search for the holy grail of music reproduction that fit my mostly rockin ears. But I like most all the genres so it had to be something that would cross dress. Poor analogy but what the hay?!?! You name it I’ve tried it. Well most. My reference is the Magnapan lrs+. Hard to beat for realism across the board. But as I traveled down the road of box speakers the q acoustics stood out for lack of distortion and natural tone. Good soundstage too. The solid structure is the magic touch here that keeps distortion at bay. I’m also a cheap sob so I stay in the smaller offerings. As I was on my journey the q acoustics stood out. I tried several of the bookshelves and a smaller tower. Sold em all when I found Magnapan. BUT, as they say variety is the spice of life do to get something to be the warm up band I settled on these little gems to get things cranked up. With a sub to help out on the bottom end these fill the bill aplenty. I stream from Apple Music wired from phone to eversolo preamp to Red Dragon 500 amp (500 wpc @4ohms - class d) SVS 3000 sub. I’m a happy camper in my 12x15 den. Mission accomplished. 3020i sounds a bit bigger and a touch cleaner but 3020 is almost impossible to beat for the price -

    After 3 months of enjoying these speakers the honey moon is still not over, they sound even better I purchased a sound level meter to measure the volume at which they are being played I play them at 70+db and they produce an awesome spatial effect. Placement is 48 inches from the concrete floor and ceiling and 2 ft from backwall which has home made treatment. I like everything about these speakers, yes there is one thing, the cable connection is unnecessarily awkward. I bought these speakers because the price opportunity was too tempting and I wanted to try QAcustics products, I also purchased the subwoofer since I knew they were going to need the additional bass and I wanted the sub to have the same sound character as the speakers I paid $149 for the pair and $249 for the sub. I had my serious doubts on the purchase but they dissipated as soon as break-in finished. I also have a pair of Triangle Borea 3 which I like very much but these little speakers have earned a place in their own right. Keep in mind these are the 3020 not the 3020i are supposed to be better. These speakers produce a Soundstage which you can actually adjust by changing the toe-in. Just playing with them I placed them halfway between the floor and the ceiling and they produce a very interesting spatial effect, maybe because the floor and ceiling reflections occur at the same time hm. I am enjoying them, these are driven by an old Marantz SR5500 90w/ch 7ch receiver throu a e50 topping dac and 12ga Gear-it pre-assembled 10ft cables. I love the appearance and construction quality of these speakers, they are unique in that regard.

    These little speakers (3020) have so much dynamic details. The tweeter decoupling technology really stands out. They are peppy when speed and attack is needed and are subdue tranquility with decay. The sound stage is very good, vocals are almost always centered and everything else is where it's suppose to be. 3020's are very impressive, they are uncanny speakers for their value. These speakers better, my kef, infinity, Sony and pioneer speakers. With all the details you would think it too analytical but no, it's also very musical. It may not have enough bass but for its size there is substantial bass to give off the dynamics and musicality.
    True gem of a speaker!

    Given the $149 price tag these are real winners. They are compact speakers the fit well on a desk.

    These are good sounding speakers, but not the best: Emotiva B1+ and Jbl 530 (which are much larger) are better but also at least $100 more. The treble is smooth, not harsh or sibilant. he mids are ok: not great, not bad. Depending on the genre, sometimes it feels like something's missing. The bass is adequate for its size; it's not a bass monster but also not anemic. I use them with a sub am pleased.

    Given it's small price tag, any shortcoming should be overlooked. I think anyone would have a hard time finding better for the price.

    Aesthetics are why I was most intrigued. I love the rounded edges, magnetic grille and greyish finish. The cabinet fells very solid.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Sehr sauberer Klang aus kleinen Boxen
    Reviewed in Germany on December 28, 2017
    Info vorab: Ich habe die ursprüngliche Rezension zuletzt am 12.11.2018 überarbeitet und an die aktuellen Bedingungen und Erkenntnisse angepasst.

    Nach langer Recherche fiel meine Wahl auf diese Stereo Kombo des britischen Herstellers. Mein Setup:
    * Q Acoustics 3020 mit 2-Wege Aufbau (Seidenkalotte + 125mm Aramid-Papier-Tiefmitteltöner); Wirkungsgrad 88db; Impedanz 4-6 Ohm
    * Magnat MA 400 Amp mit Röhrenvorstufe und Ringkerntrafo; 2x 40W@4 Ohm/2x 32 W@8 Ohm
    * DSCk OFC Lautsprecherkabel mit 2x 2,5qmm Oberfläche und 0,1mm Litzen + Sentivus Bananenstecker
    * Zuspieler: iPhone SE und Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 mit Spotify, Qobuz (Streaming in CD-Qualität) und Internetradio
    * Google Chromecast Audio über FiiO Taishan D03K externen DAC
    * digitaler Sat-Receiver via analog-Cinch (die digitalen Signale werden bereits im Receiver umgewandelt)
    * KabelDirekt Klinke-Cinch und digitales Koaxialkabel, beides OFC (99,9% Kupfer, sauerstofffrei)

    Die Boxen habe ich zuvor auf einer Kommode mit Marmorplatte mit einem Stereo-Abstand von nur ca. 1m aufgestellt. Nun habe ich sie an den QA Wandhaltern (Q Acoustics 3000 WB - 30€/Stück) mit einem Abstand von ca. 1,40m befestigt. Ergebnis: deutlich mehr Bühne und bessere Räumlichkeit.

    Probeweise habe ich auch mal Qobuz als Streaming Dienst versucht, um herauszufinden wie groß der Unterschied Spotify/320 kBit/s (via Google Chromecast sogar nur 256 kBit/s!) und CD-Quali mit bis zu 1.411 kBit/s ist. Es klingt schon besser bei Qobuz, doch ich hatte mir den Unterschied deutlicher vorgestellt... vielleicht bin ich nicht audiophil genug oder die Anlage zeigt das nicht oder oder die Spotify Kodierung ist wirklich nicht so übel.

    Der Verstärker passt mit seinen 80 Watt Leistung von den Werten her ganz gut zu den Boxen, ist edel verarbeitet und baut mit nur 9cm Höhe nicht zu hoch. Durch seine eckige Formgebung passt er optisch nicht zu 100% zu den Boxen (oldschool-newschool), klanglich aber sehr wohl.

    A-Note: Der Sound

    Nach ca. 50h Einspielzeit für das gesamte neue System verfolgte ich das Klangbild mit erhöhter Aufmerksamkeit. Der Klang ist für mein Empfinden sehr ausgewogen, nichts wird übertrieben wiedergegeben. Die Schallwellen verteilen sich sehr klar und „unverhangen“ im Wohnzimmer; man erhält ehrlichen, sauberen und sehr definierten Klang ohne gekünstelten Wow-Effekt. Mein Setup lässt sich bis zum äußersten Anschlag aufdrehen und es klingt unangestrengt mit toller Dynamik und Räumlichkeit sauber bis zum letzten Dezibel!

    Brummende Bässe und kreischende, spitze Höhen: Fehlanzeige. Dafür bekommt der Hörer schön abgebildete Basslines und Beats sowie klatschende Snares und seidige Höhen. Für meinen Geschmack könnten die Höhen auch gern noch ein Portiönchen Brillanz vertragen und mein Setup/Klangraum gibt es nicht her, dass die Musik wirklich transparent wirkt. Aber das lässt sich verschmerzen in dieser Preislage und ohne weitere Umstände in Bezug auf Raumgestaltung. In puncto Beats darf man in dieser Klasse keine Punch-Monster erwarten, doch es ist schon erstaunlich wie schön tief die kleinen Boxen können. Der Verstärker liefert an sich auch eher ein weicheres Klangbild im Vergleich mit einem Pioneer Amp ohne Röhre. Sprache - meist im mittleren Frequenzbereich angesiedelt - ist recht gut konturiert, tiefere Männerstimmen kommen sehr schön sonor. Allerdings merkt man auch bei diesem Stereoaufbau, dass ein Center Speaker bei TV Ton seine Daseinsberechtigung hat, denn die Präsenz der „Sprachmitten“ fällt mitunter, gerade bei höheren Frauenstimmen, auch etwas ab. Das ist mir bislang jedoch nur mit TV Ton über den Sat-Receiver aufgefallen, hier spielen die Mitten m.E. aber auch eine deutlich größere Rolle als bei Musik. Zudem wandelt der Receiver nur auf niedrigem Niveau von digital zu analog.

    Die Klangverteilung im Raum ist bemerkenswert (wie beworben), auch wenn man nicht direkt im Stereodreieck sitzt hat man nicht das Gefühl völlig neben dem Geschehen zu sitzen. Doch natürlich klingt es am Besten wenn man das Stereo-Dreieck einhält. Im Nahfeld gibt’s ebenfalls keine Probleme, im Gegenteil! Denn gerade da steht der Klang genau in der Mitte, direkt vorm Hörer.

    B-Note: Ausstattung/Optik/Haptik

    Nix zu meckern gibt es da! Ich kann nur sagen, dass die Verarbeitung tip top ist, genau wie das moderne und doch zurückhaltende Design und das stabile, eingelassene Terminal an der Rückseite. Ich wollte unbedingt Boxen mit geringen Abmaßen und die habe ich hier auch gefunden. Das Zubehörangebot des Herstellers ist auch lobenswert, es gibt passende Wandhalter und Ständer, auf denen die Speaker dank Gewinde an der Unterseite geschraubt werden.

    Empfehlung

    Tolle Speaker, hier und da mit einem kleinen bisschen Luft nach oben in puncto Klang bei Brillanz der Höhen und Präsenz oberer Mitten. Insgesamt zaubern diese kleinen Boxen einen schönen Klangteppich in den Raum, sehr klar und sauber. Ich habe viele Genre ausprobiert und habe mit etwas Tuning am Verstärker immer ein tolles Klangbild erhalten, egal ob Electro, Acoustic, HipHop, Rock, Soul. Nur bei Jazz und Klassik ist das System klanglich überfordert, da ist einfach zu viel los in der Musik. Liebhaber dieser Genres sollten defiitiv zu einem schnelleren (Transistor-)Verstärker greifen (z.B. Marantz)! Die Boxen eignen sich auch als Nahfeldmonitore neben dem PC Bildschirm. Dank dem relativ hohen Wirkungsgrad benötigen sie kein Wattmonster als Antrieb, empfohlen wird eine Verstärkerleistung von 25 bis 75 Watt.

    Ich habe diese Boxen als Warehouse Deal (gebraucht - sehr gut), ohne jeglichen erkennbaren Mangel, für nur 210€ (Paar) erstanden! UVP ist 320€, der Straßenpreis liegt meist bei 300€.

    Die 3020 erhalten von mir volle 5 Sterne!

    Ich hoffe, dass euch mein Test- und Erfahrungsbericht hilft und freue mich über euer Feedback. :)

    5.0 out of 5 stars Sehr sauberer Klang aus kleinen Boxen
    Reviewed in Germany on December 28, 2017
    Info vorab: Ich habe die ursprüngliche Rezension zuletzt am 12.11.2018 überarbeitet und an die aktuellen Bedingungen und Erkenntnisse angepasst.

    Nach langer Recherche fiel meine Wahl auf diese Stereo Kombo des britischen Herstellers. Mein Setup:
    * Q Acoustics 3020 mit 2-Wege Aufbau (Seidenkalotte + 125mm Aramid-Papier-Tiefmitteltöner); Wirkungsgrad 88db; Impedanz 4-6 Ohm
    * Magnat MA 400 Amp mit Röhrenvorstufe und Ringkerntrafo; 2x 40W@4 Ohm/2x 32 W@8 Ohm
    * DSCk OFC Lautsprecherkabel mit 2x 2,5qmm Oberfläche und 0,1mm Litzen + Sentivus Bananenstecker
    * Zuspieler: iPhone SE und Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 mit Spotify, Qobuz (Streaming in CD-Qualität) und Internetradio
    * Google Chromecast Audio über FiiO Taishan D03K externen DAC
    * digitaler Sat-Receiver via analog-Cinch (die digitalen Signale werden bereits im Receiver umgewandelt)
    * KabelDirekt Klinke-Cinch und digitales Koaxialkabel, beides OFC (99,9% Kupfer, sauerstofffrei)

    Die Boxen habe ich zuvor auf einer Kommode mit Marmorplatte mit einem Stereo-Abstand von nur ca. 1m aufgestellt. Nun habe ich sie an den QA Wandhaltern (Q Acoustics 3000 WB - 30€/Stück) mit einem Abstand von ca. 1,40m befestigt. Ergebnis: deutlich mehr Bühne und bessere Räumlichkeit.

    Probeweise habe ich auch mal Qobuz als Streaming Dienst versucht, um herauszufinden wie groß der Unterschied Spotify/320 kBit/s (via Google Chromecast sogar nur 256 kBit/s!) und CD-Quali mit bis zu 1.411 kBit/s ist. Es klingt schon besser bei Qobuz, doch ich hatte mir den Unterschied deutlicher vorgestellt... vielleicht bin ich nicht audiophil genug oder die Anlage zeigt das nicht oder oder die Spotify Kodierung ist wirklich nicht so übel.

    Der Verstärker passt mit seinen 80 Watt Leistung von den Werten her ganz gut zu den Boxen, ist edel verarbeitet und baut mit nur 9cm Höhe nicht zu hoch. Durch seine eckige Formgebung passt er optisch nicht zu 100% zu den Boxen (oldschool-newschool), klanglich aber sehr wohl.

    A-Note: Der Sound

    Nach ca. 50h Einspielzeit für das gesamte neue System verfolgte ich das Klangbild mit erhöhter Aufmerksamkeit. Der Klang ist für mein Empfinden sehr ausgewogen, nichts wird übertrieben wiedergegeben. Die Schallwellen verteilen sich sehr klar und „unverhangen“ im Wohnzimmer; man erhält ehrlichen, sauberen und sehr definierten Klang ohne gekünstelten Wow-Effekt. Mein Setup lässt sich bis zum äußersten Anschlag aufdrehen und es klingt unangestrengt mit toller Dynamik und Räumlichkeit sauber bis zum letzten Dezibel!

    Brummende Bässe und kreischende, spitze Höhen: Fehlanzeige. Dafür bekommt der Hörer schön abgebildete Basslines und Beats sowie klatschende Snares und seidige Höhen. Für meinen Geschmack könnten die Höhen auch gern noch ein Portiönchen Brillanz vertragen und mein Setup/Klangraum gibt es nicht her, dass die Musik wirklich transparent wirkt. Aber das lässt sich verschmerzen in dieser Preislage und ohne weitere Umstände in Bezug auf Raumgestaltung. In puncto Beats darf man in dieser Klasse keine Punch-Monster erwarten, doch es ist schon erstaunlich wie schön tief die kleinen Boxen können. Der Verstärker liefert an sich auch eher ein weicheres Klangbild im Vergleich mit einem Pioneer Amp ohne Röhre. Sprache - meist im mittleren Frequenzbereich angesiedelt - ist recht gut konturiert, tiefere Männerstimmen kommen sehr schön sonor. Allerdings merkt man auch bei diesem Stereoaufbau, dass ein Center Speaker bei TV Ton seine Daseinsberechtigung hat, denn die Präsenz der „Sprachmitten“ fällt mitunter, gerade bei höheren Frauenstimmen, auch etwas ab. Das ist mir bislang jedoch nur mit TV Ton über den Sat-Receiver aufgefallen, hier spielen die Mitten m.E. aber auch eine deutlich größere Rolle als bei Musik. Zudem wandelt der Receiver nur auf niedrigem Niveau von digital zu analog.

    Die Klangverteilung im Raum ist bemerkenswert (wie beworben), auch wenn man nicht direkt im Stereodreieck sitzt hat man nicht das Gefühl völlig neben dem Geschehen zu sitzen. Doch natürlich klingt es am Besten wenn man das Stereo-Dreieck einhält. Im Nahfeld gibt’s ebenfalls keine Probleme, im Gegenteil! Denn gerade da steht der Klang genau in der Mitte, direkt vorm Hörer.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Ottimi diffusori, rapporto qualità prezzo eccellente.

    Diffusori di piccole dimensioni, da utlizzare su stands o su ripiani di una libreria. Ottima qualità costruttiva, manca la possibilità di pilotarli in bi-wiring, ma a questo livello non è certo un elemento indispensabile. La qualità sonora è molto buona (aldilà di certe recensioni esagerate lette su siti di riviste britanniche..), i bassi sono presenti in quantità e qualità adeguate, precisi, veloci e ben dettagliati soprattutto(almeno secondo la mia esperienza) con l'inserimento degli inserti di schiuma nel canale dei bassi; i medi sono morbidi e le voci risultano riprodotte con buona correttezza timbrica, gli alti sono presenti ma non enfatizzati e non si evidenziano asprezze anche con registrazioni difficili. Compressivamente il suono è equilibrato, tendente un po' al caldo, morbido e mai aspro; la dimensione sonora riprodotta è più grande e convicente rispetto a quanto ci si aspetterebbe in relazione alle dimensioni delle casse; adatto per un ascolto rilassato. Non stiamo parlando di un prodotto hi-end ma di un validissimo prodotto dal costo contenuto e dalle ottime prestazioni. Se non si è alla ricerca di un suono estremamente dinamico o iperdettagliato (ammesso che lo si possa trovare in questa fascia di prezzo) ma di un suono equilibrato, vivace ma morbido, mai stancante, le Q-Acoustics 3020 sono un'ottima scelta ed hanno, secondo me, un rapporto qualità prezzo eccellente.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Stunningly good for size and cost
    Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 17, 2016
    Delighted with these speakers, which offer a full, rich sound and when played at a decent volume allow the listener to pick out the individual instruments. The sound is clean, open and detailed.

    Listening to Pink Floyd's "The Endless River", as I am now on the Blu-Ray version, there is good stereo imagery, and I suspect that the Q Acoustics are revealing that my subwoofer is a little muddy and my centre speaker is very boxy! (Neither of these is an Q Acoustics speaker, but from a much cheaper 5.1 set-up, so I suspect that they will soon be on the replacement list).

    My hearing is deficient by between 20-30% in trebles, but with the tone on my AV receiver (Yamaha RX-V677) turned up rather high, I am hearing cymbals clearly. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what I can't hear!

    I had to be content with bookshelf-sized speakers as floorstanders would obstruct the opening of our windows into the room, and I confess to having been doubtful about their eventual quality. I need not have worried.

    The sound from these speakers goes well beyond what I would have expected to hear from a bookshelf speaker. Mine are sitting on wooden structures pushed close to walls, and on initial set-up I found it best to insert the sponge baffles supplied with the units. I have been using the speakers for some six weeks now, and I could usefully spend some time checking whether the baffles are still required. Since I first received them, I have altered several times some of the receiver's settings (individual speaker volume and tone, notably).

    At present, the receiver volume is set at -28dB in a large-ish E-shaped room. I find the sound exciting, even thrilling; my wife would complain that it is far too loud. There is plenty of volume left on the amp!

    The overall impression is of very capable, solid, open-sounding speakers with good presence. For many years I have had a pair of Monitor Audio MA4 Mk I's, bought in the 70s, and which I love and still use in a different system. I haven't been able to compare the two speaker systems side by side, but I would suggest that the sound is pretty similar, except that the much larger MA4s have a fuller bass response (not surprising) and I'm still using them without a sub.

    The weight and physical solidity of the speakers are reassuring.

    Would I buy these Q Acoustics again? Yes, but with a new centre and sub!
