14 Months Old - Dead with Four Blinking Red Lights
Well, it's a beautiful 75 inch Sony TV for sure and when it was working sure the audio was a pain to fiddle with and if you had it set 'wrong' it would sound like mud. No worries, I can work with that. But a few days ago it just turned off. Great. Google the issue. Four blinking red lights, unplug it and plug it in again after a bit. Reset it. Well, did I mention it's a 75 inch professionally installed beauty? Yeah. With great effort I could get to the plugs high on the wall. Power button? Maybe there is one, the Sony speaker bar installed, attached to the TV means I'll never know. Looking for a repair to come to my house? I'm in the Gulf Coast Florida, good luck to me, I'm not finding any repairmen within a 100 miles. Things to think about if you want to buy this TV. TV dead, a $250 43 inch cheapo TV is standing under the Sony giving me something while I keep trying to find help for the dead Sony. And I've always had Sony Bravia TVs. They've always been great. Not this one. Be careful.

I've been on the fence for some time on whether or not to get an LED to replace my aging plasma. OLED seemed like the logical upgrade: perfect blacks, amazing picture quality. Except with OLED comes the same worries as with a plasma: burn-in worry, non-uniform degradation concerns, and of course brightness and power consumption. While they're all better than plasma by a large margin, I wanted to see what the best of the FA-LED had to offer.

    # Picture quality
The picture quality is absolutely stunning. Watching UHD-HDR content with deep blacks and bright colors shows no perceivable blooming (when viewed at a reasonable angle). The brightness of this TV is worth the extra bucks over the 900H, which while it supports HDMI 2.1, doesn't get as bright or produce as nice of a picture as it's slightly better brother. The color uniformity was also superb with this model, with accurate (vivid when it needs to be, subtle when it needs to be) saturation in all colors, and a nice uniform gray. The "gradient smoothing" feature is absolutely amazing: no more color steps! This feature alone makes this a formidable panel. My only complaint is that there are slight shadows in each corner, which while subtle, are noticeable for panel enthusiasts. Given the rest of the TV's quality, I'll take slight corner darkness given that I can get amazing brightness. Sony's MotionFlow is probably the best in the business for motion smoothing (though I prefer 1/1 as opposed to Auto or higher settings).

Picture Quality Pros: Superb color, gradient smoothing, motion smoothing
Picture Quality Cons: Slight shadows in the corners, local dimming seems to only work when playing content (not in menus)

    # Design / OS Ease of Use
AndroidTV is amazing. It's super responsive, easy-to-use, and also has additional bells and whistles for pros. If you're plugged into the Google ecosystem, it makes things super easy (e.g. auto password sync and sign-in for your apps, voice recognition for YouTube search / cross-provider search). It even doubles as a Google Assistant screen, which can optionally be set to listen even when the screen is off. The processor is lightning fast, with no delay or stuttering in any menu or playback service. However, codecs continue to be a problem.

    # Codec Support Issues
While the TV can process 4K HDR at very high bitrates in H.264/H.265/VP9, it has difficulty with audio outputs. This might be an issue with the AndroidTV SDK (so it's up to the app developer to sort out), but the net effect is some titles with lossless codecs run into problems. For example, with Plex: When streaming Dolby TrueHD, it won't natively play back, and will fall back to Dolby Digital Plus. While it supports pass-through for DTS and DTS-HD, there are stuttering issues with some (but not all) titles. Sometimes a reboot fixes this (only for some titles). I wish I could simply request that the TV do no audio processing, and simply pass it through eARC to my very-capable receiver. That being said, Netflix or Amazon Prime work perfectly (including Atmos).

Pros: Easy to use navigation, smooth playback in all streaming apps
Cons: Wonky Plex support, but decent enough that it's not worth buying a separate box

    # Conclusion
For me, this is probably the best UHD TV you can buy at the moment (at any size that's supported). I'm not interested in 8K, and given how well this TV does deep contrast, it goes toe-to-toe with OLED. Pop this TV and an OLED in a bright room, and this pulls ahead even further!

PS: This gets delivered via Amazon's big electronic freight service, so you can schedule a time and they drop it off in the first area of your home or apartment that's not outside. Super easy & secure (even for returns should something happen).

I’m 66y/o male who grew up in the south. We got only 2 channels on our B/W tv ...Monroe La & Texarkana Tx. The picture quality we thought was great most of the time. But looking at this x950 picture, I realize how bad the old tv’s were. One guy said the new tv was like looking out the window. Well, I’ve never saw the colors & all so beautiful as they are on this Sony. The sound is remarkably superior to any before it. I purchased the Sony to replace a 55” Mitsubishi rear projection tv...so I’m use to the large screens. The movements on the screen are so fluid-like. The quality is so good that you can actually see blemishes in the paint, wallpaper, stitching in the clothes. My tv’s run 24/7 unless there’s an power outage. I’m disabled from cancer & COPD so the tv is my link to the world.....it’s never turned off...so time will be the real test here.
It’s very simple to operate, setup was a snap of the fingers. So outside of the price, it’s the best of the best but, you get what you pay for. Use your credit points on your CC, awards points & everything else you can use to work the final total down to where you can get it because you will not regret it. The X950H 2020 model is best tv I’ve watched....ever. Get this tv & you’ll not always be looking back wishing you’d spent another $200-$300 & got the cream. One problem is everyone wants to continually talk about the great sound & picture....do comparisons vs their tv & you have a difficult time watching your tv. Can’t hear/see the game because of everyone talking about how great your tv is....or that one guy who’s always there who can find fault in whatever is going on.
Last word.....buy this tv, you’ll be glad you did.

Been really impressed with the longevity of Sony branded TVs so I decided to pay extra for a Sony instead of getting the cheaper alternatives. I was considering getting an 82" but it seemed a little too much. Glad I got the 75". I feel like Goldilocks picking the perfect size TV for my eyes. The color and detail are amazing. When I added blue light backlighting to the TV to make my walls look blue and I watch 4K Youtube videos of sea life, I feel like I'm snorkeling in Hawaii again. The Android TV feature seems really flawless while browsing apps. I'm very impressed with the performance. This TV feels more powerful than my new laptop. I wish the TV had a built in search engine for browsing the internet, but at least I can chromecast - which works flawlessly. I can't recommend this TV anymore. I also which it had HDMI 2.1, but I can live without it. If you buy this TV, do yourself a favor and get backlighting for it -- you won't regret it.

Picture and sound are great when tv works, tv worked faultlessly for about 16 months, then started randomly freezing. Only way to unfreeze is to unplug from power, remote and physical button on tv unresponsive. If you search in Sony forums seems a number of Bravia tv's suffer from freezing.

Originally bought a 65" A8H, great tv, wonderful picture and amazing sound but one huge downside for me, the brightness was just not acceptable even in an average brightness room and this is a characteristic of OLED tv's. Even the factory settings had the brightness at 100%. Sent it back and got the 950H. No discernible difference in picture quality, to me, even the when showing black. Really easy to set up and Sony provide an excellent program for all settings. One caveat, the sound was not as good as the A8H, problem solved by adding a Sonos Beam soundbar. Really happy with the whole set up, just waiting for more broadcast 4K programs.

This Sony TV is incredible. If you're hesitant on buying it because of the cost...don't. Just purchase it, you won't regret it. I'm not going to get into all of the details of the features on this tv as many other reviewers have already done so. Hook this bad-boy up to a good receiver and speakers, add a Nvidia Shield TV Pro and be prepared to be amazed.
