The only real installation issue is making sure you have an extra power outlet
Purchased this boost 585 days ago and just installed it now. Why? Thought it would be difficult and require a bunch of speaker resets, frustration, and cursing. Luckily though, the only real issue is making sure you have an extra outlet on your power supply (this Boost took that valuable last plug. uh-oh!).At the time of purchase, something was going on with Sonos and our speakers would annoyingly cut out all the time.Ordered this Boost, threw it in a drawer (still in the box), and like magic, all my speakers started working again. Of course that would happen after handing over an extra $100 to Sonos. Naturally I forgot about the Boost until a few days ago when my living room Play:5 kept crapping out on us. (We have three Play:1’s, a Play:3, a Play:5, and a Soundbar)Now that the Boost is installed, of the 5 minutes of music I’ve listened to, there hasn’t been any drops. Time will tell though. Will update if our music starts cutting out again. Is this product for you? Might be a good purchase if you own a ton of electronics pulling WiFi, have an extra $100 of disposable income, and are easily enraged when your music stops mid song...

I have been using a Sonos system consisting of 6 play 1's and a bridge for several years. It has always sounded incredible and performed flawlessly. Several months ago, I agreed to become a beta tester for Sonos in their new Sonos/Alexa integration. Wow, what a mistake! Ever since my first download of beta software, I have experienced a very unstable system which is prone to dropping speakers off the system. For no apparent reason, they may, or may not, rejoin. My awesome system has become an aggravating, difficult to use, frustrating mess! I even went so far as to remove the new software and quit the beta test. That made no difference. So I moved the entire system to a different router with absolutely no performance improvement. I was at the end of my rope, and very unhappy after all the money I have spent on this system.

Then, I read that some users, with complaints similar to mine, had solved the negative issues with a Sonia Boost. I figired it was worth one last try to fix my system. The Boost arrived today and I installed it per the instructions. Initially, it seemed to work just great. Then, all of the sudden, it dropped all but one of the speakers, exactly as I have been experiencing for months. I was really unhappy at this point. So I re-joined each speaker a second time. WOW!! Now everything is working perfectly. It has been up for 5 hours without any problem.

It's a shame that you have to buy a $100 addition to your system to get it back to where it was for several years, but it works. I am guardedly optimistic that it is fixed and I have my wonderful system back.

The SONOS sound system (Playbar, Boost, 2 Play 1 Speakers & Sub) far exceeded my expectations. Very simple to set up with real 5.1 sound as well as excellent Hi-Fi stereo sound. Plenty of clear, crisp sound that fills my media room. I plan on expanding to other rooms as well outside venues. If you're shopping a sound system, do yourself a favor & go listen to a SONOS system in a sound room before you decide to buy an antiquated 5.1 or 7.1 system & have to deal with wiring speakers, receiver & sub. The beauty & simplicity of this system is that wherever you locate each unit of the system (Surround speakers & Subwoofer) you only have 1 wire (the plug to AC wall outlet) & one optical/audio cable to your TV for the Playbar. Too simple! I've wired speakers, receivers, equalizers, tape decks (reel to reel, cassette, even 8-track) & turntables. NEVER AGAIN! Just consider every apps that are available now for music & media through the internet. They are available to SONOS on YOUR smart phone, tablet or computer & you may, as I did, find a great new alternative for quality sound. Thanks SONOS for a great system. As always great packing & delivery (on time) from Amazon.

Exactly what the doctor ordered! I just started building my SONOS system and in doing my research came across the BOOST and thought I'd give it a try. The set up was simple and took less than 5 minutes and the speaker paired right away with it. I've been using it now for a couple of months and have had no issues at all. I tested it out by moving a speaker as far away as possible in my home (2,500 sq feet) and it never dropped the connection. The music streams without skipping or pausing. We have a lot of connected devices in the home ranging from laptops (3) to iPads (3) iPods (1) and phones (4) when everybody is home so I was worried about a lag on the Wi-Fi with all these devices connected. I have Verizon FIOS at the entry level and am happy to say even with a majority of the devices connected to the home network at one time there has been no issue with streaming music to the speaker. I would highly recommend it.

This is an honest and true evaluation as I was not compensated for my review.

Sonos has the best speakers, but their customer service is the worst!!! We have three speakers and a beam sound bar that worked fine in the old house. In the new house the speakers would just disappear. Sometimes while they were playing music. I was told that since the new house is a little more spread out, we needed the boost. After installing the boost we had the same issue. Every great product sometimes has problems, but when we tried to call customer service to fix the issue we can never get anyone on the phone. They say to search their FAQs online but nothing fits our problems. Every time we call customer support a recording tells us that the wait will be longer than 30 minutes. When we called the first time, we were on hold for 30 minutes when they just hung up on us.
Update 2 years later: updated app for sonos helps tremendously with connection issues. Learned from Comcast that we needed to bridge the router in order to utilize the Sonos boost. The speakers work extremely well now. No more issues with dropping speakers. We have even added a few more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Es opcional pero si marca la diferencia tenerlo.

Reviewed in Canada on July 20, 2018
I live in a five-floor townhouse and have had issues with connectivity using Sonus Play:1 speakers on each level. I love the wireless speaker concept but have found the unreliable nature of the wireless connectivity quite challenging at times. I have been using an Apple Airport Extreme, which is quite sufficient for internet connectivity on all floors but this seems inadequate for the Sonus system in my tall, skinny house. The Sonus Boost arrived about fifteen minutes ago, I hooked it up, turned everything off and on again and notice the difference immediately. I can shift from radio to my music library (I use a PLEX server for a very large library and recommend it) and instantly gain access to music. Until today, in the best case scenario, the system would take a couple of minutes to completely connect. I would highly recommend the Boost if you have wireless connectivity issues with Sonus speakers. Reasonable price and very simple to connect. Instant results.
