Product Description
There's No Expiration Date on Vintage Style and Sound: Three-Way Wharfedale Linton Loudspeakers Feature Eight-Inch Woofer and Play with Elevated Openness and Taut Bass When you look at the Wharfedale Linton loudspeaker, it's impossible not to sense the legacy of natural-sounding tradition, marvel at the classy styling, and smell the hand-veneered cabinets. One of the most iconic models in the British manufacturer's history, and one that dates back to 1965, the updated Linton retains its predecessor's warm, rich disposition while also offering an elevated degree of open, detailed playback that make it a modern classic. Featuring an eight-inch Kevlar woofer, five-inch Kevlar midrange, and one-inch soft-dome tweeter, the Stereophile Class B Recommended Linton exudes timeless audiophile sound, looks, and character. Gorgeously proportioned, the three-way Linton boasts an inset front baffle and traditional cloth grille that speak to its English roots. The woofer arrives mounted on a rigid, die-cast chassis that allows the unit to provide taut, controlled bass marked by engaging dynamics and remarkable extension. The midrange comes housed in its own enclosure for ample separation while the tweeter – complete with a high-flux ferrite magnet for smooth high-frequency reproduction – helps account for stellar timing and imaging. You can place Linton on stands of your choice or you can opt for the custom-made stands that also provide LP storage, available here. And, if you really want to go wild, you can get two pairs of Lintons and stack them. The result: Presence and imaging that will blow you away. Looking at Linton, it becomes immediately clear that there's no expiration date on vintage style. The same can be said about superior sound, which you'll also find Linton offers with abundance. 100% Music Direct Guaranteed. "The Wharfedale Lintons merge a refined

Having always been looking at the Klipsch Heresy series as an end-game floor standing loudspeaker to give me the sound and look I wanted, I stumbled upon these as an less expensive option. As much as the Heresy is both revered and ridiculed by some, this is a more middle-of-the-road approach to achieving that heritage look and sound but not being overly indulgent in sensitivity to equipment. There’s no static or hum with unshielded electrical interference. These sound great with my 27 year old Sony AVR, but even better with my Yamaha 801. Their sensitivity is 90db and 6ohm which allows for a wide variety of acceptable amplification.
The defining trait of their sound signature would be the smooth, non-fatiguing treble and punchy lower midrange. Smooth doesn’t mean they lack detail. Playing Led Zeppelin through these speakers is like listening to them play in your room. Vocals are clear and revealing, and you will feel the kick drums like they are 6 feet in front of you. I played ‘Enter Sandman’ off of Metallica’s Black Album on these speakers and ended up listening to the entire 63 minute album because these speakers sounded so energetic! It was like I never had heard the album the way it was supposed to be played!
Imaging and soundstage are great, but maybe not as precise as the renowned Elac UB5. I have those as well and if I need to hear that precision during critical listening sessions, Elac’s truly excel in that regard. But the Elacs are much more fatiguing with their treble, the Lintons are not. That makes the Linton much more enjoyable for long listening sessions.
Build quality is HQ furniture grade. The book matched walnut veneer is real. These are very solid and heavy. Well braced and have a solid sound when you knock with your fist. No resonance.
Having these for several months now, I can honestly say they have been highly enjoyable and have eliminated my desire to keep upgrading speakers. They are end game. Lively and dynamic with Zeppelin and Metallica, but rich sounding and warm playing Simon and Garfunkel or James Taylor.
Get these while you can.
Definitely more bass response and smooth trebles and mids. Powered by by a $300 Yamaha N-303 receiver and couldnt be more pleased!

The depth, punch and detail from these speakers are astonishing. Driven by my 100+100W Yamaha amp with 24 bit DAC, this is the most amazing upgrade I have done, boosting the sound quality from "good" to extremely/astonishingly good. Yes, they look a bit old fashioned (and if anything, that is my only negative point), but if you want quality sound at all volumes, these are the speakers for you. My tastes in music are extremely varied; being anything from classical, to jazz to modern rock, and with each type of music, these speakers revealed details that I had not heard before. Wow.
Oh, and regarding the build quality - top class.
