I've owned 2 other Denons in the past and upgraded them over time. This one is so good and the best one I've owned so far. My last one was the Denon AVR-S940H and was rated at 185 watts/channel, so when I saw this one was only 95 watts/channel, I seriously doubted it would produce the sound both in loudness and quality I was used to, but to my amazement, it really sounds great, actually better because of the upgraded texhnology. I know watts/channel ARE very important, but there's a lot more to consider in the equation than just that. I was thinking I had just set myself up for a huge disappointment, but this system for me is fantastic and I'm stoked we purchased it. Take the time and get with Denon Support if you're not really adept with dialing equipment in like this because I think Denon nailed it. Con: Actually not a Con, my comment was my mistake. I had stated it didn't play well with wifi extenders, but in my case, I
had not positioned my extender HALF-WAY between the router and the Tv/theater area that needed the boost, so the extender receiving the weak signal kept dropping out causing connection problems with the Denon. Once relocated properly, instead of getting 10 Mbps download, it gets 100 + and has worked flawlessly now. I've changed my review to 5 Stars as it should be. Now both Tv and AVR are on the 5GHz Network and everything is fantastic. Bottom line is it was a worthy upgrade.

Decent receiver but.....
I would take a better looking display and a better quality and feel of a remote over an the bells and whistles.The remote almost feels like a toy ( nothing like the 1999 Sony ES remote which is heavy, substantial and feels like quality). It changes the volume quickly which is good but the receiver self adjusts to about 75 on the volume level which I guess is a good way to prevent damage to your speakersI am running Definitive technology BP 9060s and they run a nice sounding signal ( I think 100W a channel for this model) but if I had to do it over again I might buy an older pre amp and a dedicated power amp for more esoteric sound. But then again I wouldn't have 7.1 which is the main reason I bought it.I'm satisfied but build be better. They don't make electronics like they kissed to, with the exception of new 4k TVs. I love my Sony Bravia but the built in Google TV and menu - not so much ! #SayNOToAlexa and spying in your own home ...
