Hi-fi starts with Emit. Jaw-dropping performance from powerful stand mounters. Emit 20 is a high-performance stand mount speaker derived from the Evoke Contour i and Confidence series. It gives a stellar combination of detail and punch for small to medium-sized rooms. Dynaudio doesn't use the term authentic fidelity lightly. With Emit 20 thats exactly what youll get: a premium audiophile speaker that astonishes at the price. It might be an "entry-level" model but Emit 20 is still crammed with technology that youll find in their other families right up to the flagship Confidence range and the Core professional reference monitors. Make no mistake: youll experience performance you simply wouldnt expect at this level. Mid/bass power and control Emit 20 uses an 18cm MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) woofer based on the one used in the Evoke series. MSP is a material Dynaudio developed in-house and have used for many years on their most renowned models. The cone itself is a one-piece design; the dust-cap is molded as part of the playing surface which gives it a solid connection to the voice-coil that moves it back and forth. Youll hear that connection as supreme control and detail in the low and midrange frequencies. The voice-coil itself is aluminum wound onto a two-layer glass-fiber former. Dynaudio has a long history of using aluminum wire in their voice coils and for good reason. Its light so doesnt impede fine movement and they can get more windings on the former for a given length of wire. That means more BL or magnetic power. More power means more punch. They have boosted that further too by coating the aluminum wire in copper. Combined with the stacked ferrite magnet system and new surround that gives Emit 20s long-throw mid/bass driver all the bass power you could want even at high volumes combined with amazing control over midrange frequencies (where instruments such as guitars vocals and violins reside). These speakers are balanced, right tonality and great dynamics: imaging and separation is superb. Excellent performance for most music all day listening. For $780 it’s a real gem.

I bought these speakers to replace a set of Elac Debut Reference speakers that I really liked but just seemed to be lacking a little detail. The Dyn's do everything the DBR's did well but take it to another level. I'm actually quite surprised how they have exceeded my expectations for how they might sound. I'm using them in a small room (10' x 10') and they are positioned with the front baffles 19 3/4" out from the front wall. There is absolutely no bass bloat so I didn't have to use the port plugs. They have deeper bass than the DBR's with more texture. I've only had them for two days and they already are sounding very good. If you get these speakers don't scrimp on electronics. They need some power to sound their best. I'm driving them with a Bel Canto REF501S ($2195) amp with an old Primare I21 integrated as the preamp. I also use my Primare I32 integrated as preamp and it's easy to hear the difference between the two. With the I32 the soundstage expands and there is more weight to the sound which demonstrates they will reward you with better sound if you later decide to upgrade your electronics. I am using Q Acoustics Concept 20 stands ($299) which are a perfect match for the Emits. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone shopping for speakers they can be happy with for a long time. A truly great value!
