Been playing for 30 years and finally decided to settle on a standard string for each of my electrics. Cycled through several brand such as GHS Boomers, GHS Gilmour, D'Addario XL & NYXL, DR's and a few others. Kept coming back to Slinky's. They play smooth, last forever, quick break in and, maybe its my imagination, but the tone suits my playing. Bends seem smoother and my calouses dont get chewed up during a 4 hour jam sesh. I'm a finger player so some strings, esp lighter gauges, just twang too much or have too much grab. Depending on the guitar, I am using Slinky 8.5, 9 and 10's, and I find I am able to use lower gauges without tone loss, sustain issues or sacrificing feel.

Great set for drop C tuning

I use these strings for a drop C tuning on a Les Paul (24.75 scale) and they sound great. Before this guitar was in standard E. I was afraid I would have to mess around with the nut, but actually everything went real easy. The only thing I needed to do was making sure the intonation was correct, and it only took 15 minutes. I gave 4 starts on brightness because this is a lower tuning so, naturally, it's a less bright tone, and also on a Les Paul with vintage pickups the tone is dark (naturally), but there is nothing wrong at all. I have historically used a different brand of strings and this was just a try for me, but I'm really liking these Ernie Balls strings now so I may stick with them for a while. Great set of strings!

I used D'Addarios for decades but over the last year or two, at my band gigs (6-8x a month), I was breaking Bs and high Es like crazy, at least once every other gig. I checked the saddles on my tele and they seemed burr-free, so on a whim I decided to try Ernie Balls starting six months ago.

I immediately found that the EBs tune up faster, ie, don't require as much stretching, as the D'Addarios. String breakage has gone way down as well. In the last 6 months I've only broken two strings, and one of them was an accident where the high E got caught on a screw latch on my mic stand. I always thought EBs were for teenagers and beginners (not sure why I developed that impression) and that D'Addarios were more 'pro', but now I'm of the opposite opinion.

The Only Strings I Put on my Les Paul

These strings are great. I never have any issues with rust or tarnish, and they keep their tone very well. The brightness goes away after about a month, but from there on out, they stay consistent. I'm not gigging and playing shows every day, but I am playing very often and play a few times a week at church. I only change my strings once every one or two years. With these strings, I don't feel the need to change them. Keep in mind, though, that I don't sweat on my strings while I play and I rarely play outside, so it's almost always in a conditioned environment. These are my go-to strings that I recommend to everybody.

I have been using these strings for years. I put these 9 guage on my guitars with Floyd Rose Bridges. They have always been the most durable and less likely to break during agressive play.
