Product Description

As the name suggests, the Orange Amps Little Bass Thing Amplifier is a no-nonsense, featherweight bass amplifier aimed squarely at the modern player. 500W of Class D muscle coupled with a hugely powerful solid-state preamp, all in a diminutive 3 kg package, means this tiny toolbox delivers maximum tone with minimum fuss.

Simple But Effective EQ

A parametric mid-range control, alongside carefully chosen bass and treble frequencies, all with 15 dB of cut/boost, ensures that you can dial in the ultimate bass sound not only accurately but also quickly. Whether you are adding the finishing touches to the perfect tone, taming a troublesome room acoustic, or crafting something really over-the-top, the Little Bass Thing does it with engineered precision and the musical simplicity you’d expect from an Orange bass amp.

Class A Optical Compression

The foot-switchable compressor control on the Little Bass Thing’s front panel gives players instant access to Orange’s painstakingly developed Class A Optical Compression circuit. With its unique sidechain and a response optimized for bass guitar, this single dial provides excellent dynamic control and a warm, classic feel at subtle or extreme settings. (Footswitch sold separately.)

Helpful Little Extras

In addition to great tone and being lightweight, the Little Bass Thing features a buffered effects loop and a studio-quality balanced DI output with a Ground Lift switch to eliminate any ground loop issues. There is also a −6 dB input PAD switch for active basses and hot pickups. With all its dynamic and tone-shaping capabilities, the Little Bass Thing also makes a great recording preamp when used without a speaker connected.

One of the main reasons I was in the market for an amp is that I knew I was going to be traveling on a plane to play shows. After weeks of research I narrowed my choices down to The Little Bass Thing and a GK Legacy. I’ve loved GK and played one for 15 years but I decided I would give in to the urge to try something new. I’m glad I did. This little amp looks so cool coming out box and it plays so well with my basses. Whether it’s a Fender or a Musicman, this bass amp sings! I play in a ska band so clean tones are super important to me, but I also compete with two guitars playing a lot of distortion so I have to cut through a lot of noise. This is the first amp where I can cut through without relying on too much treble. This amp has a nice growl to it to go along with a deep bass that is unmatched by anything I’ve tried in this price range.Travel with the Little Bass Thing is super easy as well. I purchased a case from Orange directly and I can carry this thing through airport security without issue. It fits nicely standing up in an overhead compartment and takes up nearly zero room in my rental cars. It’s lightweight and sturdy enough to where I know it can take some bumps and keep going. The only downside to this amp is that it only has a Speakon connection and an XLR line out. Normally this isn’t an issue because this is what I prefer to have, but I’ve played a venue where the backline was only offered with a 1/4 plug and my amp had to sit that gig out (it was a low end ampeg cab).
