When it came in the mail it came in a regular cardboard box. I opened it up and I will have to say the boxing is not the greatest. The product is however protected well. When I saw the panel I was amazed at it's size, I'm not sure why cause I've seen many 32" TVs before but this was very thin and very large. I put it screen side down on my bed mattress and installed the stand. The stand is very thick and sturdy, high quality feeling too. Next I took out everything in the box.
In the box you will get a lot of cables. VGA, DVI-D, Display Port, HDMI, SPDIF (aux cord), power cord, and the usb cable that most printers take. You plug that into the screen and then to a usb port on your computer so that all the USB's and card readers and such work on the monitor with your computer. It also has in a separate box the OSD menu puck. Very nice of Ben Q to include all of this.
The reason I bought this monitor instead of a 32" TV is because all of the features. First of all it has much higher resolution than most 32" TV's except 4k ones. It has height adjustment, tilt, swivel and pivot. It also has an SD card reader, lots of USB ports and a higher quality build.
The reason I bought this monitor instead of a 27" monitor or any other smaller size is because I have desk room, and it's in my bedroom so I can watch TV from a distance with this.
Turning on the display: I run a dual boot system of OS X and Windows 8.1 when I arrived at my desktop in OS X I noticed my background was a little blurry, with this WQHD screen you should make sure you're using high res desktop backgrounds. I changed my background to one of the pictures I took with my DSLR, but I started to notice the faults in my images. I finally found one of my good pictures. This monitor really shows the flaws in my images. In safari everything looks sharp and I was afraid Text would be too small to read with the resolution but not at all. In fact it's better than my bigger lower res TV. It really is the perfect ppi.
Games: I haven't played too many games on this monitor yet and I am no hardcore gamer but I have excellent eyesight. I will come back and update this review later after I play GTA V and Mass Effect 2 and maybe some racing games. So far I have played Borderlands 2 and in 1440p everything looks amazing and the response time and input lag is less than my TV. Everything is so smooth. I also Emulated some old gamecube games like Pokemon XD and Naruto Clash of Ninja 4 and while cutscenes look terrible the actual rendered games a lot better than when I played them in 1080p. The contrast also helps a lot so everything is visible in game even when it gets dark like in Batman. I have a GTX 970 pushing this monitor.
Resolution Benefits: As i mentioned before, text is perfect size. You really see a benefit when it comes to games. Also I can fit safari, iTunes and Photoshop all on this screen and everything is readable. Text also looks super sharp, sharper than I've seen on any display, maybe that's due to not only resolution but contrast also. I have the perfect amount of real estate. I'm glad I chose this over a smaller 4k screen. Text would be very small on a smaller 4k and I wouldn't utilize all the real estate 4k would give me.
Viewing Angle: I know IPS have best viewing angles and would be known as a benefit. This is an (A)MVA panel and VA panels are known to have bad viewing angles and good contrast. This specific panel has AMAZING contrast and yet the viewing angles are just as strong as any IPS in my opinion. A reason I didn't get a TN panel was because they have bad viewing angles and I would have trouble watching this from my bed which is at an angle. This monitor has very good viewing angles, it looks the same to me unless I go to an extreme angle which IPS would probably start to color shift at that angle also. Also this isn't IPS so none of that bad GLOW.
Quality Other Thoughts: The monitor does not wobble much at all even if I bump into my desk, I would expect a screen this big to wobble a lot but it merely just vibrates. This monitor doesn't make any sound like other monitors. The flicker free thing is nice, I never noticed flickr on the TV I was using before but it sure did put a strain on my eyes, not this monitor.
Cons: When I am booting up I notice those vertical bands everyone is talking about. I know it varies from panel to panel but they were so slight. I was looking out for this cause I knew it could be a problem but I don't notice it anymore. And when I did notice it I had to focus hard on it to tell. The pros outweigh this minor con by a lot.
Value: For $599 most competition includes 27" IPS WQHD screens, 4k TN panels and high quality 1080p IPS screens. When this first came out it was $1000. It has dropped since the 4k IPS version came out. I just think this is the best value monitor for this price range as long as you have the desk space for 32". If you absolutely need 4k because your editing 4k video or want to play games in 4k then that's another reason, however as far as gaming I'd rather game at 1440p with smooth frame rate and high native contrast than get a TN panel that does 4k and have to spend more money on GPU's to match frame rate. There is also those 144hz 1440p gaming screens but I don't see that as competition. The color to me is very accurate and similar to IPS, I'm no professional but nothing looks over saturated and all the colors blend together well like the safari logo and in album artwork on iTunes it looks like it would look if you were holding the CD cover in your hands.
All in all this is a very good monitor overall. Fast enough response time for gaming, sweet spot PPI, High Contrast, and good enough size to double up as a TV. This monitor is suitable for all applications equally and doesn't fall behind far in any department. Sure there are other monitors with a thing or two better but for this price this is the best all around monitor.
Update: Sorry my review is so long I just feel like expensive items should be reviewed deeply. That's what I like reading before I buy. Anyway I've had this monitor for about 3 weeks I think. Just want to add that it is perfectly fine for games I never noticed any ghosting its not a hardcore gaming screen but its better than a lot of IPS monitors I've seen in this price range. So I also want to add that I didn't really notice the contrast benefit so much when I first started using this. But after playing intense games in the dark I really notice how strong the contrast is. Everything looks so real. Not washed out like on many TN and IPS panels. Also with photography from my camera I can see details in the shadows so nice. If I could change anything with this monitor I'd make the power cord in a better location. When I pivot the monitor in portrait mode it makes my power strip come off the ground lol. I guess I could buy a longer power cord too. However I hardly use portrait mode. Keep doing what you do BenQ I like the way MVA technology is heading. Perhaps in the future we will see BenQ with OLED panels. I also love the semi gloss finish. It's definitely more on the matte side but with a hint of gloss where colors aren't dull. Don't notice any fingerprints on it even when fingers touch the screen.
set my dpi scaling to 100% for each of my monitors, Dell ultra sharp 24", and BenQ BL3200PT
Ran the utility and select 125%
Restarted PC
Holy cow! the BenQ turned into a Dell Ultrasharp quality.
I liked the BenQ for the work space and color but wasn't as pleased with the font considering my adjacent monitor is a dell ultra sharp.
This utility cleared ALL the font issues up, so I would highly recommend the monitor and run the utility to convert the DPI scaling to win 8 functionality, regardless of what mode you run the monitor in, standard, rgb, cad/cam, etc, all the fonts look great! Easily a daily driver at this point.
UPDATE - I think I should clarify my statement about the font quality on this monitor. 1. The monitor is very nice, especially after using it for a while. I do not think it is a bad choice by any means. I have played around with clear type font settings both adjusting and turning completely off. Once I turned the clear type font off it did clear up some of the minute blurring I was seeing, I say "i" in this case because again I am very picky about fonts :), as such I would use this as a daily driver for all my computing needs unless i had a dell ultra sharp 32" in front of me :) (this was in CAD mode).
The adjustment of the font and using the different presets allow this monitor to be dialed in. For daily driving I would recommend the RGB mode, for CAD or Creative mode you can easily switch to the predefined CAD mode.
The RGB mode clears ALL the font blurring. The CAD mode brings the rich color scheme. Plus there are other predefined modes and you can tweak a mode and save it as one of your own predefined modes.
CAD USER VIEW POINT RATING 3.5 Star general use, 4 Star for CAD use. Looking at this monitor from a CAD user viewpoint I think the working area is very nice, CAD working area is very crisp, colors are very rich. For general use the richness of the color can be a bit over the top. The colors are so vivid that it takes away from the font crispness, the font looks a bit thick this comment is relative to a Dell Ultra Sharp especially the new 27" ultra sharp monitor, very good mix of color and font crispness. BUT the larger dell monitors are very pricy, the 27" is about the same price as the BenQ 32". I am in my late 40s and I still have to use 125% scaling on the display text scale. I did verify teh text display quality at both 100% and 125% text scaling, its still not as sharp as I would prefer BUT I have always worked on Dell Ultra sharps, a comparison of the font to other monitor around my work area seem to be of the same quality.
Summary if you are a CAD user or creative pro like animation or adobe you will like the amount of work area and color richness.
If you are a person who writes code or does a lot of data entry this monitor may not be for you, that is if you are picky about the font quality.
I like it A LOT, and I mean a whole lot better than the dell ultra sharp 34" curved monitor, it has been quite a journey to get the BenQ on me desk, on aquest for a large Ultrasharp monitor in a good price range, Dell is just a bit to proud of there larger monitors at this time.
As a CAD user or as an older person who has to use text scaling with native resolution here is another tip you may want to consider - Stay away from 4K monitors, they sound awsome an all, but they are to crisp and the font is WAY to small in the native resolution on any monitor 32" and smaller, and scaling can be even more of a nuisance on a 4K, at the time this was written various forums mentioned scaling issues. But the colors are AWESOME :).
I will update the review if I get the font dialed in.

If you write software or build websites, 2k is often much more practical than 4k, because some things don't scale well (like remote desktops), and some things you need to view at 100%, because that's the way a majority of your audience will see it. For practical purposes, the size of objects on a 2k 32" monitor is slightly smaller than a 1080p 28" monitor, but the pixel density is close, which makes for comfortable to read at 100% scaling. Also, the aspect ratio of QHD is 16:9 (it's actually exactly 4 times the pixels of 720p), so it displays movies without strange cropping, and plays games that don't support odd aspect ratios.
The BL3200PT has superb color rendering: it is accurate, pleasing, and bright; amazingly so considering the price. The controls are also fantastic, with physical buttons on the front that bring up good onscreen controls and a wired "puck" (it can be removed from its home on the base) with many that is remarkably and programmable buttons.
Convenience/Connector-wise, this monitor has it all. There is every relevant connector in use today: DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, and even VGA. Kudos to BenQ for also providing every cable. The speakers are pretty tinny, but as a plus, audio comes through both HDMI and DP, if you want to go that route. The USB features are really great: not only are there generous ports (a couple on the bottom and a couple on the right), but there is also a full-size SD reader on the right, that allows you to insert a card all the way in, flush to the monitor. That's wonderful for us photo buffs.
As others have pointed out, this is not a screen for FPS action games. The refresh just won't serve you as well as some other monitors specifically built for that purpose. On the other hand, this monitor is just perfect for the kinds of games that I like -- mostly, turn-based or pause-enabled real-time, RPG and strategy. Divinity, Fallout 4, and Stellaris all play perfectly, for example.
Considering it's value, I'd give this monitor more than 5 stars, if it were possible.
This may sound counter-intuitive, but 27" resolution on a 32" monitor turns out to be a Godsend for anyone with aging eyes. You get a ton of extra screen real estate over a 1920 pixel monitor, making my second screen almost redundant. And yet you also get a larger dot-pitch which makes it much easier to read small text onscreen.
This was my primary concern, as squinting at my high-end 24" Dell monitor was starting to give me headaches. If this was all I achieved, I would have been quite happy.
The icing on the cake, is that this has turned out to be an excellent video and photo editing monitor. Minor changes to the brightness and contrast along with a one-click Gamma adjustment were easy to make, thanks to the innovative remote and simple on-screen menus. The nicely designed stand made ergonomically-correct placement a breeze. But more importantly, those adjustments have given me a beautiful, trustworthy window into my creative output.
Up until now, I had thought of BenQ as a second-tier brand. After spending a month with this product, I will definitely look at their screens first when making future purchases.
