Reading some reviews heard people saying that they had to flash the bios but this was not an issue that I had. This board even had the mounts installed for your heat sink, I have seen lots of other boards that didn't, so another nice added bonus. Only "bad" thing I can say about this board is the software they give you to help update all the drivers didn't work for me so I just went to the website and did it all through there. I haven't looked at any other motherboards websites but MSI's website is very user-friendly. So that definitely makes up for the software.
Status update: It's been several months and everything has been great up until a bio update. Using the MSI software I updated bio A. Sadly bios A became corrupt and would no longer work. I contacted MSI and went through all of the trouble shooting and they finally determined that it was user error. Needless to say I was pretty heated but didn't let the person over the phone know. Several technicians later who tried to help with trouble shooting all ended up saying the same thing. The problem was me and that I must be doing something wrong. I had to practically argue that the board needed to be sent in and looked at with a lot of resistance from MSI.
The board was repaired and sent back. BIos A would fire up, but it took several restarts 2-3..sometimes more before it would go into bios and boot up. After loading into bios the MB was taking 7-10 mins to finally load up windows and come out of boot mode. Yes, my settings in bios were correct, boot priority, fast boot, etc. Bios """B""" works great as it did before I sent it in for the RMA.
I contacted MSI again and was immediately referred to support. I'm dreading the call and circus hoop I'll have to jump through tomorrow.
One last thing to add. When I sent the MB in for the RMA, I included everything that the MB originally came with. The RMA said nothing about not having to send all materials and parts in with the MB, but I did just incase the board was unrepairable. When I received the board back from the RMA, the items that were shipped with it were not returned. This included MB mounting screws, guide, software CD, and a slew of other items that the board comes with. I wouldn't have been so peeved if they had at least sent back the MB mounting screws!
I'll endure one more RMA before I send this board back for a refund and buy an ASUS Delux.
The MSI tech said I should RMA this board too. Well, it took 3 weeks to RMA the last one and I had to pay shipping to get it there. I didn't want to do that again. I flashed the BIOS with the latest version and now the PC will not boot just like when I first replaced the board. I only flashed BIOS-A and left BIOS-B as a back up. Neither boot. MSI says on their website that M-Flash might not work on this board and to flash it with caution.
So...I am buying a new board. I'm not spending more money and waiting 3 weeks to RMA this board. Even if the new one works having 2 boards that don't work is just not cool.
Another issue is the MSI Command Center crashes after 5 seconds of being open. Looking at MSI's forums it's clear this issue is affecting a great number of people and has been around for a long time. Command Center controls overclocking from Windows along with fan curves and RamDisk - so if you're expecting to do any of this you're likely going to be very disappointed.
One last issue I've discovered so far is the BIOS seems to have issues with controlling the fans. The BIOS offers the ability to set fan curves. Most of the time this works fine but in some instances when restarting, the board will spin all fans up to full blast and won't use the fan curve. To fix this you either have to restart/shutdown or open up MSI's ECO center, disable the fans then re-enable them.
As I've said the board looks fantastic and the features it supposedly offers would be worth the price -- if only MSI has bothered to do any sort of extensive testing.
