I bought this to mainly use as a fast external drive with my USB 3.0 to SATA adapter. I got it because the pricing was decent and I can't imagine how much it'll cost when its on promotion. Popped it into my computer and ran it across a few benchmarks (crystaldisk and anvil benchmark) just to see what I was getting for my money. FYI, you'll need to open Disk Management in Windows so it can be detected, tell it to create a new disk as MBR, create a new simple volume, and format before it can be used. Well...I can say this drive performs faster than what I currently use now as my main ssd on my system which is also a 240GB. So I used my dock and cloned my current ssd onto this one and now use it as my main drive and my old main drive as the external. Has a 3 year warranty which is pretty standard on ssds but so far, none of my owned ssds have died or have had issues. So if you like a fast ssd that doesn't cost a lot, this is a good choice.

I bought 1 several months ago.. Just bought another and put them in Raid 0 on an Asrock board with 970/950 chipset. Getting 950MB read and 900MB write on AS SSD test. MLC memory. I've used several SSD's and this is one of the best. Like them better than the samsung PRO series. Just as fast and don't have the buggy samsung software. The samsung software wont let you enable rapid mode on a raid setup. These don't require software. Fresh install of win7x64 enabled trim by default. Reviews state the drives have a built in over provisioning capacity of 7% .I did try the Zotac software with 1 installed and it kept telling me I had to format drive before optimizing. So it is buggy. Doesn't even recognize the drives in raid 0. No matter- did the registry tweaks myself. Overall one of the best drive around, especially for the $.

Been using it for over a month now, fast and reliable (240GB PE). Works as well as the Samsung drives I have always purchased in the past.

One word of caution when you use the Zotac SSD toolbox you can download from Zotac. If you click on firmware update, it does not check for new firmware, and then confirm you want to update like most programs. It just does it. The drive came with version 1.6, the toolbox upgraded to version 1.7. I can't find any information on this version anywhere on the internet, or that it exists at all, even 5 weeks later. Although all still seems to be working fine.

Also the temperature monitoring does not work, it just always reads 30c.

Already have a Samsung Evo (great drive) and decided to give the Zotac a try as MLC flash is supposed to be more reliable in the long run, it does not disappoint. This is an excellent, solid performance SSD and I'll be buying another. It is much better priced than its higher-cost and more popular competitors and has the same, if not better performance. As for durability and reliability...time will tell.

I've been through ssd drives from crucial, kingston, oczr, kingspec, intel, adata, and samsung. I used to think that Samsung was always worth the premium for a daily driver, but this drive has performed wonderfully in my ThinkPad x200 running CentOS 7; granted, my x200 mobo only has sataII support, so i cannot speak for sata 3 speeds. If you need a casual upgrade (ie school laptop), this exceeds expectations. I have had a Zotac GTX 750 in the past, and it played borderlands 2 maxed out (with a Pentium g cpu), so both of my experiences with zotac have been very good.

This review is for the NEW ZOTAC SONIX 480GB PCIe SSD NVMe. Amazon mixed up reviews of the SSD with this drive.

Zotac claims this drive gets UP TO 2.6GB/s sequential reading speeds. Well, I wonder under what circumstances one is supposed to get the 2.6GB/s!

I tried several benchmarks (Crystal Diskmark e.g.) and quite consistently got only 1.6GB/s sequential readings. All other readings were quite OK though. I also checked out several independent reviews, many of which claim the Zotac currently is the slowest PCIe SSD NVMe drive on the market. Admittedly, the price is awesome for this type of drive, but not getting the promised 2.6GB/s is quite disappointing.

A question for Zotac: how on earth did you get the 2.6GB/s??

Got this on sale for $65 which was about $15 dollars cheaper than the Samsung Evo 850 at the time. I use it for a boot drive and to house my most most commonly used programs. 240 GB is much better than 120 GB for these purposes and the price was right. Bonus points for it being an attractive drive.
