    I did not want a touchscreen at the time so I picked up this ASUS Chromebook. The specs on this machine make it great for anything you need a Chromebook to do. All web pages load extremely fast. Videos are great with this screen. If sitting outside in bright sun the screen does not get bright enough but this is not an issue for me as it will be rare I am outside in direct sunlight using this.If I were to have a complaint is when the volume is all of the way up the keyboard keys vibrate - this is annoying when watching a video or music. Also, the backlit keyboard shines out of the bottom of the keys too much and not through the top. As I sit here writing this, the computer is in my lap and I am sitting on the couch, backlit key brightness is all of the way up. Due to the angle my eyes are at, the keyboard is at a 45 degree angle so all of the LED lights under the keys "leak" or "bleed" our from under and it sort of washes out the actual key designation. Now if I were to look directly at the keyboard from above, all looks great. (pic attached, not sure it does justice to what I am explaining)Neither complaint is bad enough for me to knock down the review a star. So this gets a 5 star from me. Go buy one.

    Intel CoreM3-8110Y , 8 GB RAM.

    Get it if you want to use the chromebook for typing and as a laptop. Its not a 2-in-1, also no touchscreen. But ASUS has other models for those.

    Positives:
    Bezel less design. Its 14inch screen in a 13 inch body. Screen is not the best, but really good and bright. The bezel less design makes it so compact.
    Keyboard is really nice to type on. Good travel and backlit. White backlight on white/silver keyboard can be bit weird. Maybe blue or something might have been better. But overall not a deal breaker.

    The spec is pretty powerful for chromebook tasks. Really snappy and runs google play apps and linux apps.

    Silver is good, but I would have preferred more color options. at-least some dark option.

    USB-C is life changing.

    I purchased this during the Black Friday sale for $340. At that price this is an excellent buy. So, likes and dislikes:
    Likes: Size and weight, Battery life, speed and responsiveness, There is a 14" screen in a 13" footprint and it weighs less than 3 lbs. I can not understand why so many chromebooks weigh in excess of 4 lbs, there is nothing in them! This CB lasts all day and then some for me, with my mix of browser use and Spotify in the background. And I find the Core m3 is more than adequate with 8GB of memory. Personally I rarely have more than 8 - 12 tabs open at a time. I can't keep track of that many, how anyone can have 50 or more open is beyond me. With a dozen tabs there is no noticeable slowdown of system performance.
    Issues that may bother some: The Screen. This is not a touchscreen. I don't mind as I don't find touchscreens particularly useful. There are few Android apps that make use of a touchscreen and work well with a chromebook, and when using in laptop mode touchscreens are basically useless. But if you find touchscreens useful, you may miss it ion this CB. Also, the screen will lay flat (180 degrees), but doesn't flip. Again, I don't mind as I never used my older flip in that mode. Also, this does have a plastic bottom. The top is aluminum, but the bottom is plastic. If that bothers you, I think you worry too much about status. But, be aware. Overall I think it has a decent polished finish and it feels solid.
    Definite drawbacks; Keyboard. The feel of the keyboard is fine! It is not substantially different from most modern laptop keyboards and I don't mind typing on it. But, as has been mentioned in other reviews, the markings on the keys are a medium grey color and it lacks significant contrast to make the keys easily readable. This problem is worse with the backlighting on and in a bright office environment. I generally turn off the backlighting in the office.
    Overall I think this is probably the best inexpensive Chromebook I have seen. At the $340 price point I consider it a bargain. Personally I wouldn't spend more than 400 on a Chromebook, as they really still cannot replace a real laaptop!

    Since I dumped Windows a couple years ago I have depended on Chrome and Linux. My two Acer Chromebooks (14 and 15) have been super and my one self-built Linux is dependable. I have been following the Asus 434 and the Acer 715 for a few months, but when the Asus 425 became available at just over $300 I jumped on it. And so glad I did.
    This is flat out the best for the price computer out there.
    The only disappointment I have is the backlit keyboard. Since I am a touch typist it is really no big deal to me, but for those of you who rely on looking at the keyboard to type then you may not like it. The keys are just hard to see.
    But as far as the keyboard itself and the touchpad - both are excellent. The speakers are wonderful, display is crisp (I dont care it is not a touch screen), 8 Gb RAM great, adequate ports available including memory card slot which I use. And the combo of aluminum and plastic are a solid build. Actually feels like all aluminum to me. It is overall just a sweet and light Chromebook and I would recommend it to anyone who does their homework before they make a decision on what computer to purchase. I still love both my Acer Chromebooks, but this Asus 425 is a welcome addition.

    Good battery life

    I've had it for a week now and love it! It fits great inside the Egiant 13.3" laptop sleeve https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N636T7M which has plenty of room for the power brick, low profile Bluetooth mouse, a mouse pad, and a few odds and ends besides. This Chromebook has paired flawlessly with my phone and the mouse, and I've had no issues getting it on WiFi at home or at work. I can't say I'm impressed with the camera, but I don't do video calling or anything, so it's a non-issue for me.

    I've used Chrome Remote Desktop to connect to my home and work PC's on it, and been very happy with the performance. The Google Assistant has been handy to have on it, as are some of the Android apps. I would definitely recommend the C425 to anyone upgrading or even for a first Chromebook.

    I got my mother this Chromebook to replace her Asus C300, which recently reached EOL (End of Life, no longer receives updates). The Asus C425 is better in pretty much every way. The better CPU and increased RAM make regular use snappier, and multitasking much easier. The screen looks pretty darn good, and is Full HD (1920x1080). I was also pleasantly surprised at how much thinner the C425 is compared to the C300. The keyboard feels much better than the C300 to type on. My only complaint is the way you change the keyboard backlight level is not labeled, I had to look it up. But this is more a Chrome OS interface issue than with the device.

    My previous chromebook was an ASUS C202 with 4 GB ram. It is still working well but I wanted a new chromebook with 8GB of ram since I tend to have 20+ tabs open at a time. The extra ram allows me to switch to old tabs quickly without a page refresh. I also wanted a 1080p display and a faster CPU to handle large spreadsheets. This C425 fit the bill perfectly. The back-lit keyboard was a bonus. ASUS generally has great touchpads so I wasn't worried about that. I've read reviews of other brands and some seem to have trackpad issues. That would be disasterous for me so I stuck with ASUS, a familar brand, and I am quite satisfied. The keyboard is excellent quality and is backlit as well. I fully expect to enjoy my C425 for years to come.

    Top! Sehr gute Perfomance, wenn man es für Office und Streams/Surfen benötigt, sehr lange Akku-Laufzeit. Kein Windows, somit auch keine Probleme! ;)

    Man sollte aber bedenken, dass es ein US-Tastaturlayout hat, lässt sich aber natürlich softwaretechnisch auf das DE-Layout umstellen. Nur falls es optisch stört, sollte man sich den Kauf überlegen. Außerdem wird es mit einem US-Ladekabel geliefert, also benötigt man noch einen Adapter für deutsche Steckdosen! Es lässt sich aber auch mit einem handelsüblichen USB-C Handyladekabel laden, nur eben etwas langsamer als mit dem mitgelieferten Kabel aufgrund des Schwachstroms.

    Perfekt für Office-User ohne Gaming- und hohe Videobearbeitungsambitionen.
