I had some out of the box issues related to the wrong build plate being sent in the package, and some under extrusion issues, but their support was really responsive and got new parts sent out quickly.
I think it would help quite a bit if anycubic would include some better cura profiles. For example, I found that their default retraction setting of 6mm for their PLA profile on this direct drive printer was way too high and would cause empty spots anywhere retraction occurred, so I had to reduce that to around 1-2mm after a lot of testing to resolve those issues.
They also don’t provide great guidance or procedure on how to adjust the tension on the direct drive, so I just had to keep adjusting the screw back and forth until it seemed right.
The only downsides for me are the top crossbar being plastic, and the display being a little more basic and lacking functionality that I’d like to have. Otherwise I like it, like that their support answered tickets and provided resolution, and I would buy one of their printers again next time I’m shopping for one.

First complaint, it doesn’t print at 100mm/s like it claims, it doesn’t even print at the 70 that it’s calling a slow printer. It prints at 50mm/s that’s half the speed it claims. How do I know, I asked them how to get the speeds they claim and they said they don’t recommend that and said I should stick to 50. The instructions on how to get it going are terrible and misses steps. For example, it tells you load the filament auto level. If you follow those instructions you will get a mess. Instead you need to remove the filament before doing the level test. And that auto leveling, it barely works too. You might think after you auto level it, that means it should print well. Nope. You then need to level it yourself afterwards. Even then it’s not quite level, and at that point there is no more adjustment you can do because it doesn’t give you the option to do a true manual level
This is a terrible starter printer. Any decent starter printer will come with the settings needed for the Slicer(program that converts models into info for the print) when I ask about theirs, they said go with default settings. Default settings are for printers with Bowden tubes, not for direct drive. You want the right settings, you need to figure that out for yourself. I honestly regret getting rid of the packaging and not returning it. Worst 3d printer I’ve owned

Pros:
- super easy assembly and solid build quality
- the magnetic PEI bed is awesome.
- is compatible with V6 nozzles so can easily exchange the included brass 0.4 mm nozzle for a hardened steel or wider diameter nozzle.
- super quiet! Makes less noise than most computers at full speed and is near silent when printing at slower speed with fan off.
- direct drive allows easy tuning of extruder tension and should be compatible with flexible filaments like tpu.
- the auto leveling feature works well…
- hard to find a printer that provides so much value for money out of the box.
Cons:
- the manual does not explain how to do the initial nozzle height adjustment and proximity sensor setup!!! You’ll need to find one of the user made videos on youtube explaining how to use the included nozzle height tool and how to initially calibrate the z axis and z offset.
- autoleveling works well, but won’t fully compensate at the edges of the bed if the bed or gantry are not not level. Make sure that these are level when assembling your printer
- although the included sd card and the anycubic website have cura printer profiles for the printer, they weren’t super well dialed in so you will likely need to make some minor adjustments
- if you have no plans for upgrading, have kids/pets, or just want the easiest/most convenient option and are willing to pay $100 more: you may want to consider a fully enclosed entry level printer like one from flashforge.
- if you think can easily see yourself wanting to upgrade: know that at this time the upgrade path and replacement parts procurement process is not as clearcut as it is for other larger brands. Although similar to an ender 3, this is not an official ender 3 printer and the there is little documentation or guides to help ensure you are getting compatible parts much less how to install them. So if you think you’ll want to do something like upgrade your hotend or bed then you may be better off going with an official ender 3 printer.
… But if you just want to start printing now and are on a budget this printer is hard to beat!
