Up to 13x faster than a typical hard drive*Accessing your data on the Crucial BX200 is like flipping a light switch — it's almost instant. The Crucial BX200 delivers true 540 MB/s sequential reads on both compressible and incompressible data, which allows you to access files and apps almost as soon as you click on them. Stop pulling your hair out waiting for your computer to catch up to you. Life moves fast — your computer should too. |
Up to 40x more energy efficient than a typical hard drive**Since SSDs access data on cutting-edge flash memory chips rather than on outdated spinning platters, they consume significantly less power than hard drives. Enjoy the ability to do more with longer battery life and experience a cooler, quieter system. Increase your laptop's portability, worry less about finding an outlet, and boost your productivity. |
More durable than a typical hard driveSince SSDs don't use moving parts that wear out over time, your photos, music, videos, and everything on the drive is less susceptible to a crash. Dropping a laptop with a hard drive may damage the small mechanical parts it uses to read and write data, and could cause the hard drive to fail. SSDs can sustain more physical trauma since they don't rely on these mechanical parts. |
Better value than a typical SSDThe Crucial BX200 leverages proven flash memory technology that's been thoroughly vetted and engineered to extensive Micron quality standards. Upgrading to an SSD is one of the best ways to improve your system's performance, and now the price per gigabyte makes it a great time to ditch your hard drive. Start getting more out of your storage. |

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro running Windows 10. Please do not make comments about why I am running Windows 10 on a MacBook Pro. :-)
I dropped the laptop last week. My Windows 10 Apps(not applications but Apps) stopped working completely. The performance was dragging. Disk cycles were pegged at 100%. Startup time was abysmal.
When I looked at the Windows Event Viewer, many entries reported that the drive had a bad block.I ran an sfc /scannow command.
I used the analog command for DISM to check the file integrity using an online reference.
Both utilities reported that the drive was fine. I think that Windows 10 OS moves files from bad blocks but regardless of whether that is the case, the hard drive could still have had physical issues. As a precaution I decided to purchase this drive before the drive failed completely.
I have an enclosure for SATA drives. I ran the Acronis True Image 2015 software and backed up my old hard drive to the SSD. Interestingly, True Image reported a number of read errors on my original mechanical drive. However, I chose the option to "Ignore All". After two hours the backup of the old mechanical drive to the new SSD was completed. I guess skipping the bad blocks was good enough as the OS has some means of maintaining integrity even in the presence of failing hardware.
I was able to get the SSD installed very quickly. Not counting the time to remove the back of the laptop, it took just a few minutes to attach the SATA connector and seat the SSD correctly in the drive bay.The moment of truth was the power up. I powered up the laptop and it has been performing very well. I don't have metrics comparable to those who do multimedia for a living but this SSD was sufficient for my needs.
So for ease of install, provided software and functionality, I give this a 5 star rating.
This SSD has been trouble free and has the capacity to hold a really large database that I work with all the time. I just can't believe it is so affordable.

Read and write speeds are slower than expected.
Overall pleased just not wowed.
This drive uses TLC (triple-level cell) technology, which is slower to write data than previous generations (SLC, MLC). All TLC drives help mitigate the write speed issue by incorporating a high-speed cache. This drive includes a 12 GB cache, meaning you can perform bursts of write activity without it slowing down (up to 12 GB at a time).
I performed read and write and testing of the drive using the Linux (kernel 4.3.3). In sustained sequential write testing (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1M), the performance dropped to 83.5 MB/s. In sustained read testing (dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null bs=1M), performance maintained a consistent 539 MB/s.
For use in a notebook computer, under normal usage, this drive is more than sufficient for my needs. In my opinion, this drive provides good price/performance.
