Product Description
WARM TIPS:
1. It is normal that PowerBar may only provide 50% charge to your MacBook Pro 15" if you are using the laptop the whole time while charging. Laptops with over 15'' screen size(e.g. 15''MacBook Pro) may get 40-70% charge from PowerBar because the big size laptops need much more power keep their screen on when working
2. Some Special Gaming laptops (e.g.HP ZBook 15 G2, 200W ) are FAR MORE THAN 85W Rated Power may not be charged by PowerBar. The AC output port of the Powerbar can't charge/power devices that operate at more than 85-Watt. Please check if your device(s) being charged fit within these requirements to ensure compatibility before placing order
3. The USB C is an output of only 15watts. It works for Nintendo Switch, but CAN NOT charge the laptops with it (MUST use AC)
3. PLEASE PRESS THE POWER BUTTON FOR 2 SECONDS TO TURN ON/OFF THE AC OUTLET. REMEMBER TO TURN OFF THE AC OUTLET AFTER USING OR THE BATTERY WILL DRAIN OUT.
4. It is NORMAL to hear some slight NOISE coming from the battery when you using the AC to charge your laptop. BECAUSE THE INSIDE FAN IS WORKING TO COOL DOWN THE BATTERY.
5. This product does NOT support Charging pass throug function.

Charging up… The PowerBar came charged at 50%. I connected the supplied charger, and about 4 hours later (give or take) it was fully charged. Not bad for such a high capacity battery pack.
The physical unit…This is an attractive, albeit large battery pack, with smooth curves and nice cosmetics. The grey and orange color scheme is good looking, and the various features (ports, display, on/off button) are logically laid out and accessible. But, considering the fact that it offers basically the same power capacity as the Jackery Thunder X or Titan, it is quite a bit larger than those packs. I suppose the circuitry to provide an AC power source takes up the additional space. It is fairly light weight too – around 2 lbs.
Use...Using the USB charging ports was very similar to using them on any of the other Jackery battery packs. They worked nicely, and don’t really need much explanation. The AC outlet however is an unusual feature, and in the case of this battery, the main feature that sets it apart from other battery packs. Note - the AC outlet is not grounded – it has two prongs only. There is a hole in the battery pack allowing you to plug in a 3 prong power cord, but that 3rd prong is not connected to anything. I guess this might be due to the fact that the battery pack, unlike a real AC supply, has no “earth” to connect a ground wire to.
The real test...charging a laptop. My first test was with a Chromebook. I ran my Chromebook battery down to 10% overnight, and then connected it’s AC adapter to the PowerBar. After pressing the power switch for 2-3 seconds as indicated, the display indicated it’s initial 100% capacity level. After a couple of hours, my laptop had reached 95%, and the Jackery still had approx. 40% of its charge remaining – pretty good! I can see this coming in handy when attending all day meetings, flying long distances, or just being out and about and needing to keep my laptop going.
This battery is not just for charging laptops of course. It can be used to power AC powered devices when an outlet is not available. Of course, there is a limit to how much current the battery can deliver – you can’t power a refrigerator – but as a utility outlet for lights, and other smaller electrical devices, it could be a great camping buddy, etc.
Summary...The main purpose of this larger-than-typical battery pack is to charge / power laptops and devices with similar current requirements via the AC outlet, and it does that quite well. It can also be used in more traditional charging situations, like for tablets and smartphones. I do wish that the battery capacity had been much higher perhaps around 40,000 mAh would be better for such an application, especially considering the size of the battery pack. But overall, I think Jackery has a great idea here, and it has a lot of potential (maybe a PowerBar+ could be developed with increased capacity). But even in its current form, I think Jackery has another great product in its already extensive battery pack line of products.
On the Jackery Power Bar I was asked to test, there are 2 USB ports (one 2.4 and one 3.0 quick charge) and also an in/out USB-C port to charge the device. From my experience, the USB-C on this device allows it to re-charge faster than the USB mini port on my smaller size Jackery Titan.
I also have a Jackery Titan charger, I purchased previously. In comparison, the Jackery Titan is great for charging phones only or a tablet such as an Amazon Fire. It can charge devices up to 30 watts with two 3.4amp (maximum) outlets and 20,100mAh of power vs. the 20,800mAh of power in the Power Bar. The Power Bar, on the other hand, can charge devices up to 85 watts. It takes longer to re-charge the Titan to full capacity from zero and it is harder to tell the progress of the charge. There is not a digital indicator on the Titan, but are 5 blinking blue lights. The more lights lit, the more charge the battery has. When all the lights become solid blue, the device is fully charged. I prefer the digital display on the Power Bar over the 5 lights on the Jackery Titan.
The unique thing about the Jackery Power Bar is you can charge devices via the USB ports and/or the AC outlet on the device. This not only allows multiple items to be charged at the same time, but this allows it to charge laptops or low wattage devices such as LED or other types of lights for short periods of time. Keep in mind, the higher watt the device, the more quickly it will drain the power from the Power Bar. Powering an 85 watt device for any length of time is not practical. An item that uses 85 watts of power would be powered for less than 1 hour. I did not test it out on charging anything like a camera, drone, or anything of that sort, but I imagine it would work great for that as long as the device was 85 watts or less. It appears to charge things quickly.
The Jackery Power Bar is listed to supply 76.96Watt Hours of power. To simplify this a Watt hour is a unit of energy or the amount of energy used by a 1 watt device in 1 hour. For instance, if you have a 4.5 watt light, in theory it will use 4.5 watt hours of power in 1 hour. With the Jackery Power Bar at full charge you could in theory power this 4.5 watt light for approximately 17 hours. I used the Jackery Power Bar to power a lamp with a 13 watt compact fluorescent bulb in it for several hours. Unlike other batteries that are not Lithium Ion, the power stays constant. The light remained bright until the power in the unit was used up and then the light shut off instantaneously.
I especially like the fact that there is a digital display that allows you to monitor the amount of charge left in the device. It is shown as a percentage of power still available.
It does take a bit of time to charge the device from zero to 100% or fully charged. I believe the estimate of 7 hours to be accurate as stated in the manual. It does re-charge faster than the Jackery Titan.
I was able to charge my Apple MacBook Pro to about 70% in a relatively short period of time on one charge. It charges my IPhone 7 Plus very quickly, in fact I believe much faster than my Jackery Titan. It is very nice to be able to charge multiple devices at once. The AC outlet makes it very versatile. There is, however, no port to directly charge a 12 volt DC device. An adapter or inverter would be necessary to convert the 12 volt DC power to AC power.
It is necessary to push the on button for a full 2 seconds to get the device to turn on the AC outlet, a quick push won’t do it. You will know the AC outlet is on when you hear the cooling fans hum. They do make a noise, but I didn’t find it overly loud or annoying.
While there are advantages to the use of the USB-C port in terms of speed of re-charge, I believe, USB-C cords aren’t probably as readily available if the cord is lost. I’m sure that will change as more devices start to use USB-C cables. On a long trip you might want a spare cord. The provided cord is not very long either, only 18 to 20 inches long. It does appear to be a fairly good quality cable/cord.
I was able to use charge my laptop using the AC outlet while having the Power Bar plugged into the wall. This was not true, however, when attempting to use the USB port to charge an older iPad or my iPhone. Charging a device via the USB ports appears to be disabled when the unit is plugged into the wall.
I highly recommend the Jackery Power Bar, even though it is quite a bit larger than the Jackery Titan. It charges my phones quickly and provides added features over its smaller cousin the Jackery Titan, which I also highly recommend. For a several day trip where there was no power source to recharge your backup battery, the Jackery Power Bar would be ideal. The added AC outlet adds a whole new level of versatility enabling charging of devices that are unable to charge via a USB port or to power small low wattage items.
Nonetheless, it works amazingly, is compact enough to fit in a backpack or suitcase, and gets the job done.
EDIT: A week after receiving it, I dropped it from a height of about 4 feet and the charger will not charge from the wall, show the correct charge amount, charge connected devices, or enable the AC outlet anymore. After opening the portable charger, I saw the charging regulator circuit was not soldered sufficiently to withstand ANY form of roughhousing. For a portable charger that is touted for outdoors, this level of inadequacy is unacceptable.
I asked for a repair, but was promptly told that it was user error, which I admitted it was. I then asked how to go about repairing it myself, to which I was told that the company has no idea how to fix it. If they made the product, Jackery surely should know how to fix it, right?
