Take Back New York
Welcome to a next-gen experience in a persistent and dynamic open world environment that is built from the ground up for co-op and where exploration and player progression are essential. Teaming up with other Division agents, your mission is to restore order, investigate the source of the virus, and take back New York.
Seamless Multiplayer: The Dark Zone
Enter the Dark Zone, a walled-off quarantine zone in the middle of Manhattan where the most valuable loot was left behind when the military evacuated. It’s also the most dangerous area in the game, where fear, betrayal, and tension are high. Team up with other players to take down your enemies and extract legendary loot via helicopter. It’s your choice to collaborate with other agents, or attack them and steal their loot.
Urban Jungle
New York City is being overrun by hostile groups trying to take advantage of the crisis. Beware of the thugs who roam in packs through the city, preying on the weak. Fight against the Cleaners, who wear hazmat suits and wield flamethrowers, set on cleaning New York from the virus by burning everything and everyone. Engage with the Rikers, a gang of convicts that escaped Rikers Island when the chaos hit, and who are ravaging the city and vying for its control.
Gear Up and Customize your Agent
Harness state-of-the-art technology, both networked and prototype, as a member of The Division. Customize your character and your backpack, your lifeline in mid-crisis New York. Communicate with other agents at all times with your smartwatch. Loot fallen enemies and customize and level up your weapons, gear, and skills.

In the Dark Zone life is less certain, Rogue agents are less predicable, better armed, and far better trained than the thugs ruining everything around it. With a handful of trusted allies I go in, ready to rush up and bandage wounds, and grateful for the depressing amount of cover the abandoned world leaves me. Extraction is the most dicey. It's tense, but oh so worth it. The gear they've got in the Dark Zone often outstrips the legal stuff in the wider city, and with it we're far better equipped to protect those who are left.

My husband and I have been playing The Division together since week two after release. We both have significantly beefy gaming rigs, and the graphics and smoothness of gameplay is top of the line. Our play styles are really different, for one I use an XBone controller and he uses a sidecar and mouse - he also prefers a faster pace than I do, and the game accommodates our differences in such a way that not only do we love playing, but we complement each other perfectly.
I also have a single player game going, but it's so much more difficult than playing with another person it almost feels like the game wasn't really designed for single player. I love a good challenge, but I actively dislike "rouge like" games - playing alone gets close to that genre for me, and I rarely venture into the game alone anymore.
I thought the story started out a little thin, but it's gained a shocking amount of depth. The M rating is NOT kidding. The kinds of violence and human evil depicted are, well, brutal. This isn't the kind of game where you'd wanna play if the kids could even overhear it.
This game is amazing. Amazing. From the PvE story to the PvP Dark Zone, it's all very well designed and infinitely playable/replayable. Just as with any other MMO release, the end game content is somewhat lacking. I am not at all worried about seeing this change (very soon) due to the highly responsive and interactive nature of the development team.
The development team is amazing. Since closed beta they have listened to the community's reaction to gameplay and perceived problems, they have considered the efficacy of proposed solutions, and they have then quickly implemented changes to the game in an attempt to further improve player experiences. This has been an ongoing process, and they have completely exceeded my expectations. Also, their plans for the DLC/expansions sounds very promising, with special events to constantly occur in game, as well.
Parts of the community are amazing... but that's the same in any MMO. There are trolls, there are casuals, and then there are the no-lifers. The latter two categories usually provide promise for a wonderful gaming experience.
The one thing that bugs me is really only related to having played in the closed beta. During that time, the Dark Zone PvP area was rife with PvP, but the game release seems to have mostly risk-averse players running around trying not to shoot or get shot by anyone else. I really loved running down rogues (the hostile players in PvP are called "rogues") in the closed beta... strangely, even doubly so when they were hackers! That feeling of "hunting" is something that has been completely missing in the release version for me, but we recently moved & haven't played in abut a week.
tl;dr: Game is amazing, dev team is amazing, community is pretty standard for MMOs. Will update this with new information sometime later.
