Fantastic value APU. Decided to do a extreme budget build for a customer using black Friday sales. Choose this little gem. After a few hours of messing with a first gen AM4 motherboard I finally got it to work. I had an extra ryzen CPU and a GPU laying around so updating the bios and drivers weren't too diffacult.

Bought it for our new HTPC. Installed it in an ASRock Fatality B450 Gaming ITX/ac AM4 motherboard, since it supports this processor (but only 200GE, not 220GE or 240GE) right from the get go, no BIOS updates needed. Updated the BIOS to version 1.70 nevertheless. Works great. For those who are new to the AMD platform, be sure to install AMD chipset drivers first, and then Adrenalin drivers for the GPU. Don't bother with All-In-One packages, IMO. As far as the processor's performance goes, I did notice CPU usage spikes up to 70% when surfing, watching Youtube or installing software. So, don't expect too much from it. On the other hand, for occasional gaming (Rocket League tier of games, mind you) it does pretty well, I must say. I presume it will perform even better with older games (but not GTA IV, for instance - 30ish FPS with medium/barely high settings, but GTA is known to be a CPU hog, so that shouldn't suprise anyone). Hardware decoding of 4K Youtube videos works flawlessly, but it does utilize 30-60% of GPU, while CPU utilization is minimal (less than 15%). Used it with stock cooler for a few days, and it worked great even though it's installed in a pretty small In-Win IW-MS04-01 ITX case (not much room in there). Nevertheless, splurged on a Noctua NH-L9a AM4 cooler. Works even better. So, as far as CPU performance and price go (even though we paid premium price as far as 200GE goes - 61$), give it a go (especially if you can get it for 50$). Plan on replacing it with 2200G in the (near)future, though. Was too cheap to pay 35$ more for a 2200G. Nevertheless, not too shabby. Recommended.

This CPU comes with a cooler, is cheap, and, when overclocked, can meet the performance of a Ryzen 3 1200 (at stock clocks). I was able to overclock mine, which is a holdover for Ryzen 3, to 3.9ghz stable on the stock cooler! It stays under 70 celsius, and I pumped about 1.3875v into it to achieve this. Boots fast, lack of PCI-E lanes, but what do you expect for $50?

Some boards will allow you to overclock, but it is the odd BCLK*divider*multiplier or whatever way it works on certain boards. For any casual use or office work, this CPU will do nicely, plus, with the Radeon graphics and the right boards, you can play 4K content on a 4k display at 60hz (e.g. boards with DisplayPort).@

Unlike Intel, AMD was nice enough to offer some backwards and forwards compatibility on their chipsets and sockets. Kudos to them.

Works perfectly for my build. Running an old case with no room for a graphics card so I needed the integrated graphics. No issues running in a Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H motherboard with 8G RAM and SSD. The only thing about this is... I wish I'd bought the Athlon 3000G - better performance for $12 less. But I didn't notice it listed when I bought this. Really though, for a basic build I don't think you'd go wrong with either.

At first, I wanted to get the Ryzen 3 2200G, cause I wanted to save some money on my first build. I've wanted to build a computer for five years, so this was a good opportunity to do so. As soon as I got the parts and put everything together, everything just came to life. The CPU was fast, responsive, and everything looked so smooth. I underestimated the CPU heavily because it only had two cores, but I was very impressed with how well this CPU performs. I'm used to typing ahead of the system and having to have it catch up, I'm used to watching 480p YouTube videos and it STILL being laggy, I'm used to waiting about ten seconds to open Chrome. As soon as I built this computer powered by the Athlon, everything just became so simple. There was no "aight, lemme go grab a bottle of water from the fridge while I wait for this to open". Nope, it was just a simple click away and everything just happened right there and then, like how computers, in general, are supposed to function. Gaming wise, it's perfect for entry-level. If you pair this with a decent graphics card and get at least 8gb of system RAM (unlike me, because I have 4gb of RAM), you can get some pretty good gaming performance. It wouldn't really be anything to stay on for the rest of the system's lifespan, but it IS an option to do so. I'd recommend an AMD RX 580, a perfect amount of VRAM for the rest of your gaming needs, and it doesn't have a too bad clock speed compared to the integrated graphics. Just get a good graphics card and have at least 8GB of system ram and you're good to go. I wouldn't recommend staying on the processor too long, at least try to get a Ryzen 3 at least. Other than that, even just basic office work, the Athlon would be an absolute MUST HAVE. Even if you're just browsing the internet, you're good to go. You can even watch 4K YouTube videos, which is amazing considering I'm used to 480p. It'd be hard NOT to start on this processor.

If you have an older motherboard and want to update the BIOS this is a cheap way to do so. I kept mine so I have a backup/testing CPU. I cannot recommend this for gaming or media, but it's a cheap chip that can get you started.

Be careful when changing your BIOS as this will likely make it so your motherboard will only work with some Ryzen processors, not all. Read your motherboard manufacturer's guidelines.

I am quite pleased with this purchase. This little CPU performs amazingly well for the cost. Its a dual core but has hyperthreading. In the past I have had trouble running Mass Effect: Andromeda, it simply won't go using a triple core. A quad core is necessary for running that game, yet this processor does just fine.

It does stutter a bit occasionally, which is expected when multitasking. For the most part, my system is responsive and functions as a great office machine. As I mentioned, for games it is adequate and tested well when benchmarking.
    Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Gateway CPU, Perfect for Budget Gaming Rig or HTPC
Reviewed in Canada on May 26, 2019
My objective was to build a budget gaming PC for the kids that would perform double duty as a Home Theatre PC as it would be connected to a Television in the Family Room. This room has a great media center cabinet for electronics but it doesn't exactly allow for a lot of airflow. This had me looking for budget components that would also not consume a lot of power and generate a lot of heat.

    Here is what I built:
    - AMD Athlon 200ge
    - Asrock B450M Pro 4 (MicroATX Motherboard)
    - 8GB (2x4GB) of Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3000
    - MSI GTX 1050 Ti graphics card

This system is great for a number of reasons:
    1. I bought into a highly upgrade-able platform. 12-18 months from now, I'll probably drop a 6 or 8-core Ryzen CPU in this system and move it over to my workstation and then shift my workstation over into the role this currently plays.
    2. The performance is great for Gaming / HTPC duties. This is a fantastic Fortnite system and my daughter just got a huge upgrade over an older system with a lesser graphics card. Overall I would say this system feels "snappy" and very responsive. Great platform.
    3. This CPU consumes very little power and therefore generates very little heat. The default heatsink/fan work fine and aren't loud. I put the fan on the "Silent" setting in the BIOS and it spins no faster than 1800rpm. Virtually inaudible.
    4. This CPU actually has a built-in GPU if you aren't playing heavier games or just wanted to game casually at lower resolutions and lower quality settings.
    5. The price!? ~$73 CDN for this level of stability and performance is fantastic. I had initially wanted to go with an Intel system but based on the current pricing of the Pentium Gold CPUs... it wasn't justifiable.

Go AMD. This is my first AMD CPU going back to the Duron (almost 20 years ago) and I'm very impressed. I think a Ryzen upgrade is in my future.

    Excellent value here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Calidad-Precio para ofimatica y emulacion
Reviewed in Spain on June 19, 2020

5.0 out of 5 stars Value For Money, Meets Expectations.

The CPU is the best value for money processor on planet earth, it's not slow at all specially coming from someone who has used i3 processor on laptop. The Vega 3 graphics can play every game that came out till 2014 on highest settings with playable frame rates (exceptions gta 5) and it can also run modern games on lowest setting, which is extremely good for the cheapest and weakest , processor in the lineup. Pair it with an SSD and your pc is blazing fast. Although it easily touches 100% usage on opening 5-6 programs or on heavy softwares like Android Studio, it still gets the job done there are no lags. Runs flawlessly with Ubuntu OS, I didn't need to setup any drivers on Ubuntu. The CPU fan is extremely small compared to my earlier pc, but it keeps temp below 40 even in 40° C summer.
    Gaming - 8/10
    Value For Money - 10/10
    Processing Speed - 7/10
    CPU Fan - 9/10

I have also attached comparisons with laptop processors.
