About this item

  • 【Classic I3 Structure Combines with Sovol New Design】Different from most 3D printers run by wheels in the market, SV06 has a classic I3 structure which avoids wear and tear of wheels and multiple replacements and it is widely applied into industry. We did something new to make it more applicable for household use. Modular design allows you to assemble SV06 within 5 steps easily. Working with SV06 Klipper screen (does not come with the printer, need to purchase additionally), SV06 can reach a fast and upgraded printing speed of 250mm/s.

Update V2: Just save yourself the headache
4 Stars
Update V2: Just save yourself the headache
Update 1/10/24I have taken it upon myself to redesign the failure prone parts to be much more durable, and this printer is singing along now, printing better than ever.I redesigned the carrier for the extruder, which cracked and wobbled. This carrier also upgrades the bearings to drylin lm8uu bushings for higher quality prints and really low noise. It is now exceptionally strong and should last the life of the printer.I also redesigned the Y axis bearing mounts to use drylin bushings and reduce vibrations. I redesigned the y axis rod seats as well. All these upgrades make this printer amazing.I posted all my designs free on printables. Search for smittyforge and print these out if you want to be ahead of parts breakages.Update 9/21/23Sovol support has been good and very kind. They even sent me a roll of filament because of the issues I have been facing even though I told them nothing is necessary.I got a "made on a Friday" printer or it is just a terrible design...probably the latter. Most likely the latter. I added another pic where I circled the latest failure. I had first layer issues for several prints and multiple leveling procedures didn't fix it. Custom firmware with X twist compensation didn't fix it...So, again, I bought new bearings. Igus Drylin this time...and during disassembly I found a cracked Y axis linear rod mount. That was my problem. ughI print a lot, and as stated below, I am looking to build a fleet of printers. This simply won't do. I print in an enclosure for the most part, so it is hotter than open air, but this machine should be able to handle that. Sovol themselves suggests an enclosure included in the paperwork with the printer.Look at the picture where I circled the failure in red... then look to the left. You will see how weak the injection molded part that was supposed to contain the constant back and forth motion is. It just is not robust enough to keep up with any marginally demanding environment. I also feel it would just snap on the blue and then you are left holding the bag after they discontinue the model and stop making it and it's parts.Looks like I have to redesign the Y axis block, as again you cannot buy parts. Now I need to spend a few hours more to get it functional again after spending hours on the mystery of the horrible prints. They need more than a junior engineering department...they need to focus on durability and name recognition from that durability.Update 9/4/23:I have had several exchanges with Sovol from the beginning and up until this point. I do believe they will stand by thier printers and actually care about how they are made and how they are perceived. I got my machine working again, partially because parts are open source and partially through redesign. The amount of concern I received from Sovol, and the separation of Amazon and Sovol is what made my initial review 1 star. I am over 30 hours into perfect printing with my replacement part I made. My first layer problems were from the part that broke. I was causing poor layers because it was breaking apart. This part is not visible for inspection, and made X travel sloppy.Nothing was promised to me for updating this review, but there have been offers of assistance from Sovol, which aren't necessary at this point.Update 9/1/23:I stumbled across a video that detailed yet another problem these printers are having, and one that I also had. The extruder gears are held on the shaft by set screws. The problem is the set screws backing themselves out of the gears and grinding and destroying the extruder from the inside. Thankfully I watched this video, because mine were loose. This had to be cleaned thoroughly and blue loctite added to hopefully prevent that hidden surprise. There were several loose screws in the hotend/extruder assembly that I am glad I caught.Original Review:Where should I start? I looked heavily into this printer and found that the YouTube influencers gloss over the finer details that would have kept me from buying this to begin with.I did find that many people were having problems with the linear rail bearings being cheap, so I planned on taking them out when I got the printer and greasing them. I also found other problems that make sense now that I have the machine. It is those kind of things you only realize after you have experience with the product.Day 1 is when it began...the massive headache this machine is turning into. I'm probably destroying my kidneys with all the ibuprofen lol.I took it out of the box and checked the movement of the bearings and they were really loud but appeared to be greased. I decided to give it a shot and remove them to pack them with grease. I used a high end lithium grease...and no improvement. So I used my own money to buy a better made bearing (fushi bearing LM8UU 4 pack for 10 bucks on Amazon). There are 10 of these bearings, I needed 6 for sure, and had to buy 8. I could have got 10 for half the price, but it was not worth it if they were just as bad as the ones Sovol included.Waited a few days to get the better bearings and started assembly again. I greased the new bearings and set it up. Problem solved.Until it turned into more problems. I could not get good first layers with any ABS and it looked like bad under extrusion usually looks. I carefully calibrated esteps and still had gaps in the first layer. I realized Auto Z alignment was not functioning properly so I manually set the lead screws and got that perfect.I was still getting gappy first layers. I set the Z offset closer to get more squish...I also tried different slicers and nothing helped. I know there is wobble in both Z lead screws, which I am sure is not helping with this problem and probably making it worse.I pushed through that and kept printing and I was getting much worse results than my ender 3 v2 neo and my neptune 3 pro. but hey, I was printing right...and I did buy a printer so that's a win I guess.Until my X axis tensioner decided to snap. I included that picture so you can see the poor injection molding ridges and cheap press fit inserts on a part that should be made out of aluminum (or at least a better mold for an injection molded part and stronger plastic). Injection molding should not have rough seams nor press fit inserts on those seams.I already knew I will have to wait a month to get new bearings from Sovol because I asked them for some after I already had to purchased my own. I told them I did not think I should have to buy new bearings for a new machine, and that I would like them to send me replacements. That way I would have extra on hand anyway since my plan was long term for this machine. I also didn't want to wait until outside of the return window for what should have never passed QC.To their credit, the shipped some out.So I knew Sovol would not be able to ship a part from China to me within my return window.I contacted Amazon today because I am not waiting 1 month for the possibility of another defective part. They have a request assistance/replacement parts button and that brought me to chat. A specialist told me they would send a replacement out within 24 hours and I would return the 1st one after I got the new one. Fine. I am running on a 2 week return window which is not ideal, but I can make that work. Then I get an email from Amazon saying they can't ship one, but they will give me a refund after they receive this one. Not gonna work. That will shave a week at least off the return window. So I hop back on Amazon chat and ask what was going on. After being lied to by the specialist who just decided to promise something he couldn't deliver, I was told it was Sovol who was not allowing them to ship one.Sovol has a spotty track record. I am finding out more and more with this printer than any YouTube influencers can convince me otherwise. I have heard bad things about all the printer manufacturers, but to date I have only had a problem with Sovol.Sovol, get your act together...it doesn't matter that you would make me wait to get another printer. The reason it doesn't matter is because it speaks to how you do business. You could get a jump on your problems by sending replacements to Amazon for sale when you offer a printer for sale. The most important customer service you could offer is to make a product that doesn't require it. It is why we buy Toyota...not for the warranty, but the fact that we are very unlikely to need that warranty.I designed a better X axis belt tensioner block. I put it on printables. Search SV06 tensioner block. the walls are thicker, it uses nuts instead of brass press fit threaded inserts (which is why this broke), and the area to the front of the pulley is longer to try and offset the tension on a printed part.Thank God my ender 3 v2 neo saved me and printed the part I made. I may just get this thing running again.I am done with buying Sovol anything at this point. I will try to keep this Frankenstein running as long as I can, and then I will chuck it. Amazon...have your specialists be certain about what they are offering before they offer it. Sovol, design products better so you don't have to fight against your customers or hide from them.

Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2023
The media could not be loaded.
I've just recently gotten back into 3D FDM printing and I was interested in purchasing a new printer that had some of the latest bells and whistles. When I began researching the purchase I became a bit overwhelmed due to countless brands, types, sizes and price ranges of printers that are on the market Needless to say I had a difficult time deciding on which to buy. I ended up stumbling across a video on youtube reviewing the Sovol SV06 which led me to finally make a decision. I thought the price was great and it has all of the features that I was looking for in a printer. I made the purchase on a Thursday night and it was on my doorstep by Saturday morning.

Unboxing impressions - This printer comes packaged very well.... It's packaged so well that I didn't see the extruder assembly in the foam packaging and almost threw it out with the foam. All parts and pieces are tightly packed and there was no sign of possible damage to any of the components. Good job Sovol.

Assembly impressions - Getting this printer put together and ready for printing was easy and quick (15-20 minutes). The instructions are simple to understand and the packages of screws used for assembly are all labeled based on which step you're on in the process. It couldn't have been easier.

Getting it ready to print -
The instructions show you how to level this bed properly using the mesh leveling. First you level the Z, which is automatic. Then you auto home and set your z offset using a piece of A4 paper. You then tell the printer to run mesh leveling which takes a couple of minutes but then you're ready to go. No more fiddling with knobs to level the bed (Amen!)

Print quality impressions -
Like most folks my initial print was the file that's included on the SD card - in this case it was the Boat Benchy. I'm not used to having perfect first prints on a brand new 3d printer but this one comes really close. There were a few whisps of filament on the model but nothing I'd go so far as to call "stringing" and one quick blast of heat from the heat gun made all whisps disappear. (Photo attached shows the whisps.) Ever since then I've had nothing but fantastic prints. Some models have whisps, others do not so I think it has more to do with me not having settings dialed in for the different filaments that I've been using. Regardless, the prints turn out looking great!

After several successful prints on this machine I wanted to really test how level the bad was by loading it up and watching the first layer and I've attached an image to this review that shows just how well that layer went down. It was perfect and consistent across the entire bed. Adhesion was good throughout the entirety of the print and all parts turned out excellent (the parts in the photo were used to make the robot hand which is also pictured)

The few failures that I've had on this machine have been while attempting to print with old Sainsmart TPU that's been sitting around my house for a year or two. I've attempted to dry it but I haven't yet to dialed in the settings but I expect that I'll have better results once I do.

Filaments that I've used to print with so far - TPU, PLA, PLA+ and PETG.
This is my first time attempting to print with PETG as I've always heard that it was a difficult filament to get quality prints with and surprisingly I've had NO issues and it turns out I really like printing with PETG now (go figure). Inland PLA+ has also been a really good filament to print with on this thing.

The only minor thing that this printer is missing is a filament runout sensor. I've never had to rely on one but it's a nice feature to have, just in case. Sovol has addressed this with the release of the SV06 Plus that just recently came out and you bet I also ordered that printer for the larger build volume. .

So, all in all I would absolutely recommend this printer to anyone. Ease of use and the high quality prints right out of the box makes this a great buy for beginners as well as those that have experience. For the price you can't go wrong with this machine. Mine has been going nonstop since I put it together!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a fantastic 3D printer this is!
Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2023

I've been 3D printing since early 2021 and looked at many different 3D Printers and narrowed down it down to the Sovol SV01 (Classsic) to be my 1st printer because I liked the features offered for a good price and their customer service. During my 2 years of printing, I learned a lot and had been enjoying printing since. But......I quickly realized that a 2nd printer would greatly help when printing large multi-object prints and multiple colors. I looked at many printers and kept going back to Sovol’s website and was eyeing the SV06. I saw Sovol’s announcement of the SV06 late 2022 and really liked the features it offered but kept contemplating on making a purchase for a 2nd printer. 7 months later, I decided I was ready for a 2nd printer and purchased the Sovol SV06. I’m glad I purchased it.
Upon opening the packaging, I noticed it was packaged extremely well! Each component was packed into its own compartment and all the screws/bolts bags are labeled making it easier to assemble. If your new to the 3D printing world, then this is an excellent printer with very little effort in assembling. The entire process of assembling took me just under 30mins from unboxing to turning it on (I took my time reading through the guide and tightening all the screws/bolts). There is also a guide that was included with the packaging with pictures and there are videos online on how to assemble it. The guide is very detailed.
Once I got it all assembled and also got the auto z aligned & bed leveled, I started by printing the benchy included on the sd card but got half way through it and realized the nozzle/hot end was angled severely which may not be a problem for small prints but a huge problem for large prints. I took the extruder off the mount (so much easier to remove than my older SV01) and looked over it. I contact Sovol’s support and they were extremely helpful. They provided a replacement and links to videos and information & once I received the replacement parts it was easy to fix the issue.

Pros:
• The biggest pro that I like about this printer is the Bed Leveling feature. Unlike my SV01, I would have to level it every few prints even after adding the silicon pieces instead of springs. With the SV06, the bed does not have any springs or silicon pieces. It slides on rods and includes an inductive sensor. I included the G29 command in my startup gcode and it checks the bed before printing.
• I like the size of this printer. It is smaller than my Sovol SV01. Its not to small but not to big. Its a good size that will allow for printing almost anything. If your into printing cosplay helmets they you may have to cut up parts and print multiple parts. For me I’ll probably print helmets on my SV01 and print all the small misc. pieces on my SV06 so I can complete them much quicker.
• The extruder is extremely easy to work with. With my previous SV01 I would have to move the gantry to the very top to give me room to work on the extruder and sometimes maneuvering to get a good angle to work on it. With the SV06 there’s 3 screws to undo and remove the wiring clip and its free to work on. Wish this was feature was around on my SV01.
• Prints PLA, PLA+, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA, Nylon & etc... I mostly print with PLA, PLA+, PETG & TPU. I haven’t tried TPU on the SV06 but PLA, PLA+ and PETG print extremely well.
• Filament change from the printer is very easy compared to my SV01. Its easier to navigate through the menu to find the filament change.

Cons:
• Loading filament was a little tricky the 1st few times but after several attempts its become much easier than my SV01. There are videos on how to properly load filament that should help.
• The size of the bed. Even though for me its not a con since I have another printer that I can use but if this is your 1st printer that may be an issue. Its build plate says 235mm x 235mm but the actual build plate size is 220mm x 220mm. Wish Sovol would had adjusted the wording on that since it can cause some confusion. If this is to small you could always go with a SV06 Plus that has a bigger bed.
• I’ve read online that others experience the bearings being very loud. I experienced the same issue but used some specialized grease and fixed the loud sound. This can be an issue if you don’t have specialized grease to fix it. It should be something Sovol should have fixed before sending them but not a big deal. Just something to think about when purchasing.
• Still uses a micro sd card and a micro usb. Wish this used a USB-A or USB-C connection but not an issue for me since I had an extra Raspberry PI running Octoprint connected to my SV06 using a micro usb cable. Also something to think about when purchasing.
• No Run out Sensor offered. I never used my run out sensor on my SV01 since I problems getting filament to load into it so for me its not an issue. I just keep an eye out on how much filament I have loaded and guestimate on when I need to change it.
• No color display like the SV06 Plus but for me its not to much of a problem since I’m use to it on my SV01.

I’ve only printed a few test pieces but so far the SV06 has been a great printer for the price. If this is your 1st printer then I think it will be a 1st good printer or 2nd/3rd/etc… printer. Its very easy to use and is loaded with a lot of features that I can’t wait to start using it more! I like it so much that I may have to get another SV06 so I can print more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tive problemas com a impressão inicialmente, mas o vendedor se prontificou a resolver de imediato.
Reviewed in Brazil on November 27, 2023

1.0 out of 5 stars Printer Has Quality Issues
Reviewed in Canada on January 20, 2023
The media could not be loaded.
The printer had bearing noise and homing issues both in X and Z directions. The assembly of the unit was fairly straightforward.

Even after lubricating the rails, screws, and bearings the movement of the bed and extruders head had noticeable jerk and audible clicking sounds.

Tech support for the unit was unavailable due to Chinese New Year, and I returned the product as I am unwilling to risk not resolving the issues while under the return policy.

Great design, poor execution, and support.
