I think I need some better games. I just play WoW and do CAD ...
So far.... It's a monster! Worth the investment. It laughs at my cute little games. I think I need some better games. I just play WoW and do CAD on it for now, and the GPU core is like "really, dude... really?" hahaha. It's my computer, I'll do what I want! Anyways... my cute little Warcraft game only pulls maybe 48% load on 1080p Ultra settings no overclock or anything (Like I'll ever need to with my cute little games. lol) Frames stay over 100 most of the time. The core never gets over 51C with my use. The fans kick on right at 51C , about 860 rpm. I suspect that can be changed in the AORUS Engine software it comes with or MSI afterburner if that's your flavor. It barely fits in my Micro ATX cube case (which leads me to think thermal dissipation could be potentially problematic. time to get the hole saw!) That is if I ever decide to do some "real gaming". I'm running this with a 725W PSU. I follow the 60%, rule. never exceed 60% power capacity. Keeps things running cool. This card is a contender and even in benchmark it yawned at me. I wish I would have quit being cheap a long time ago.

So far so good, this beast can alone run most of todays modern games at 4k 60fps with high settings and AA off or low (which really doesn't make a difference due to the abundance of pixels), games that were released before 2013-2014 will run at 4K with ease.

Power Consumption - It only haves an 8 pin conector, i was worried about this but no more, i managed to OC this to 2,114MHz and sustain stable gaming consistently, while OC i up the voltage for a stable functionality. As other 1080s, it consumes 180W, and can go up max to 225W.

Temperatures - Right to business, on full load and with overclocked settings, max Temp i've seen is 70C, which is pretty good considering max temp she can handle is 93C, still, always make sure it doesn't go 75C for durability reasons. On idle, fans hover around 30% maintaining 35-40C temperature.

Performance - This card slaughters 1080p ultra, slaughters 1440p on ultra too. To achieve 4K 60 FPS, you must tweak and play with the settings. Use MSI afterburner and while playing, check for GPU usage, tweak your settings until you see the GPU usage hovering 85-95% usage which will result on the best image possible she can give you while maintaining solid 60 fps. Keep in mind 4K is lots of pixels so don't worry about sacrificing some settings in order to achieve stable FPS, believe me, it won't make a noticeable difference, go with low or medium Anti-aliasing depending the game, ambient occlusion is the only settings that at 4K really hammers the GPU, this setting is noticeable because it gives the image a better contrast between lights and shadows, but it really depends whether you want more fps and your taste in graphics quality. Be aware that in 4K drops will occur rewardless for the settings you select, to achieve 4K 60FPS on ultra, go with SLI the you won't have to worry about nothing.

Things to consider for novice gamers:
    - Know that you'll need a good CPU that is able to keep up with the GPU demand so you can prevent a bottleneck. I currently use a 6700k OC to 4.4GHz and it reaches 65-70% usage when playing games like Watch Dogs 2 at 4K and Mafia III at 2K, all the other games i've played stay below 50% cpu usage.

    - If you're aiming for full 4K gaming at highest settings go for SLI ( two 1080s)

    - Case must have good ventilation and airflow to dissipate heat.

    - Make sure the card is well attached to mobo's slot, lot of users have complained that their socket was damaged due to GPU weight.

    - Don't OC GPU unless necessary, given it more unnecessary juice will result on drivers crash and GPU malfunction.

    - Always monitor your system temperatures when playing at high resolutions.

Awesome video card. The temperatures are well managed, often about thirty degrees Celsius lower than non water-cooled cards. There was some worry about noise, but mine is perfectly quiet - no unusual pump noise or anything. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: I have read the water radiator input/output needs to be put on the bottom or lower than the rest of the radiator (unless horizontal maybe) AND most or all of the radiator needs to be above the video card. The reason for this is to prevent air being trapped in the pump or anywhere else other than the far end of the radiator. A MUST DO POINT: Just ensure you install it so water is always being drawn by gravity to the pump and bottom of the radiator (where input/output is).

The software that comes with it is easy to use and appears to allow overclocking, fan management, and LED management along with monitoring the activity and temperature of the card. I do not overclock, but it appears it can just fine. I like to use things as designed so I'm not the cause of premature failure.

Otherwise, I love this card, its quietness, and its capability. I use it for my HTC Vive and I'm slowly working to other games as time allows.

this is a first impresion review and not the full thing since i have a slow FX8350 running this beast, until i get my Ryzen 7 1700, i really wont see its full power, that aside, I purchased this card basically because it was the cheapest 1080, since i was already replacing the stock cooler with a EK water block i didnt see the need to get a more pricier one, after removing the block and inspecting the board i found it to be nothing less of a quality refrence design card, the gigabyte cooler was good don't get me wrong but am already setup with big water and have my rig fitted with two 480 rads from my previous build am running this card on a 27" Asus rog 1440p 144hz monitor, and can say that it is a beast of a card, probably the best enthusiast card out there, i don't see the need to go with a 1080TI over this unless you are gaming on a 4k monitor or playing on 1080 ~ 1440p competitive above 100FPS, i get 80 to 144hz on most of my games, which is plenty, very smooth game play, low power draw, and stays much cooler than my previous water cooled R9 280X Crossfire setup, with much more FPS, i will followup my review when i get my hands on a Ryzen 7 1700 or a I7 7700K, am sure this card has much more to offer.

What do I say about it? It's fast. Just finished playing Far Cry 5 on my 43" 4K monitor on ultra high settings. It was amazing. Quiet fans. Easy installation.
What I don't like are price fixing by all the manufacturers who saw the demand by bitcoins miners and brought the prices up. At this point it is also very old. The demand for these was so high, they didn't have to innovate and kept selling the same thing. A bit sad,but it's life.
    Good card.

    Pros:

    CS GO
    L4D2
    H1Z1
    BATTLEFIELD
    METRO 2033
    DREADNOUGHT
    ROCKET LEAGUE

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Card for 1440P.

Crazy beast of a card. Maxes out anything on the market right now even at 1440P to beyond 60 Hz. No stuttering, no artifacts, no woes with gaming if you buy this card. This card is NOT meant for 1080P gaming. Only get this card if you intend to go 1440P or above. This card is way overkill for 1080P. Excellent quality and buy, RGB GTX 1080 lighting, might have some coil whine issues depending on your PSU, but it's a minor issue. Probably best price to performance card until 1070 and RX580 come down in price and are consistently in stock.
