Love Asrock! Moved from an i7/Z99X Killer to this X299 Taichi!
Everything has been solid! In 3 years, never had issues with my Z99X Killer 3.1. I expect the same from the X299 Taichi. Running with the Intel i9 9820X 3.3ghz/OC 4.4ghz. I used Intel Extreme Tuning Utility Basic mode to Over Clock 4.4ghz. Also running 128gb RAM. Right now have Corsair Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB (4x16GB) & G.Skill F4-3000C15D-32GTZ TridentZ Series 65GB (4 x 16GB). Did thorough testing with this memory combo without any issues. I would not recommend mixing different RAM. The G.Skills are from my previous build & was curious about what would happen. Rock Solid! Also using the CORSAIR HYDRO Series H115i PRO liquid cooling ..... you cannot hear it! I OC at 45hgz/1.205v 100% CPU for 5 minutes & never went above 66c.The only Con is the Front USB 3.1 header is gone. The label is there for it : (

i7-7820x, this mobo, corsair 32gb 3200mhz ram, evga 1080ti. this mobo is perfect combo, works fantastic with my samsung m.2 960 pro hard drives. exact same setup for the wife, minus the mobo, hers is a msi x299 gaming pro carbon ac and it doesn't work as well or as optimized and as fast as my setup with this mobo.

This is an expensive board that requires and even more expensive CPU ($460-$1,500) and, yet, like every other board based on Intel's LGA 2066 chipset, this x299 board is hostile to virtually every OS except Windows 10.This is not a bios issue; it is a "feature".

Windows 7 is a non-starter as well as many Linux-based boot disk utilities. (I haven't had a chance to test a clean install of a Linux distro yet). Windows 8.1 can work but it's not easy or supported by Intel or ASRock.

The bios is full-featured and has highly configurable overclocking tools. On the other hand, unlike some ASRock boards with older Intel chipset, there is no configurable "boot" menu to choose among boot media (i.e. hard drive, CD or USB).

While other sites report that Intel's LGA 2066 chipset coupled with an i9 processor can be as much as 30% faster than the previous generation Intel boards, this board didn't "feel" like much of a speed improvement over LGA 1151 boards that I have owned. NVMe SSD drive upgrades and more and faster RAM have offered me much more noticeable increases in speed.

I have built a lot of PC's and this motherboard is as solid as I have ever used. I am using it with I9-7940x and 128gb RAM. Completely solid and stable.
