ALIENWARE CRYO-TECH V2.0
Our advanced thermal technology, Alienware Cryo-Tech v2.0, optimizes component cooling, which maximizes overall performance and keeps your laptop cool to touch. Here’s a closer look at our innovative cooling solution.
- Dual-intake, dual-exhaust airflow design: Our thin and light chassis prioritizes performance with a dual fan design that pulls in cool air from the bottom vents, and exhales exhaust out the rear and side vents for optimal cooling of the core components.
- High voltage driving fan: The fire resistant, liquid-crystal polymer fan is built with 0.2mm blades, sleeve bearings, and 3-phase fan control to create less friction and circulate air more efficiently. Over 90 unique blades cool both the CPU and GPU.
- Load-balancing heat pipes: The dynamics of thermal activity across critical components like the GPU and the CPU are intelligently discharged across 2.5mm, and 6mm, copper-composite heat pipes.
- Dense copper fin stacks: The Alienware m15 features surface temperatures, largely due to a thermal module designed with 48.6 CCs of copper-designed fin stacks.
- Thermal control: Cryo-Tech v2.0 ensures that 100% of the system's GPU thermal design power is enabled, while also ensuring CPU-intensive games benefit from high-performance.
Commanding Performance
- Keep your cool: An outstanding cooling system featuring Cryo-Tech v2.0 thermal technology allows you to overclock your CPU, ensuring your system stays cool as the action heats up.
- Kick performance into high gear: Engineered with 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processors, NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics, and up to 32GB of 2666Mhz DDR4 memory, the Alienware m15 possesses powerful performance for uninterrupted gameplay and other activities.
- No shortage of storage: Experience faster load times and a quieter system thanks to multiple storage options including PCIe M.2 SSD and high-capacity hybrid HDDs with 8GB solid-state memory.
Select Your Style
Choose your weapon: Available in epic silver with a satin finish or nebula red with a soft-touch finish, you can choose which look best suits your style. Color availability may vary by region.
Take Your Graphics Further
The optional Alienware Graphics Amplifier supports next generation NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards and includes an additional 4-port USB 3.0 hub for added peripherals. Pros
-it's very fast, processing speeds are really good. Programs open with little to no delay.
-alienware programs can be annoying at times but with this laptop it's pretty good
-battery life. Surprisingly for a gaming laptop it can go for 4 hours in heavy use.
-charging cord. Those with alienware from before would know the struggle of the cord length but this one is about 10 ft.
-weight. I cannot stress enough how much of a difference the weight makes when it comes to a gaming laptop. Like having the option of carrying it around easily is such a plus. I know it may seem weird buying a gaming laptop worrying about weight but trust me it's only a difference you'd notice if you have it
-noise. So far the noise isn't noticeable which is good.
-aesthetics. It may not be as flashy as the usual alienware but the keyboard and alienware logo is always a plus. And it blends in if you have to use it in a classroom or libaray setting well. Doesn't attract much attention which could be a good or bad thing depending on how you take it
Cons
-Heat. This thing can get hot. I would recommend a cooling fan but the buttons do get hot after about 45 minutes to an hour of heavy gaming.
-track pad. It ain't the best and it may annoy you at times. I use a mouse generally but I tried using this track pad and just ended up reverting to a mouse. Don't get me wrong it's good but it can be frustrating at times
-charger. It is a bit bulky but that's expected.
-windows 10. Always a con, too many baggage of programs.
Overall if you can get this for $1000 or under like I did definitely get it. Fully worth the cost and I'm thoroughly impressed and satisfied.
I also like to dual boot all my pc’s with Kali linux, no issues there either once you get the Nvidia video drivers loaded up for Linux. Little disappointed in the lack of dvd drive but not a deal breaker since it’s mostly designed for gaming
Really my only complaint is the noise. The fans sometimes sound like they're revving up for liftoff when I play Sims 4. I can deal with that, since it's not constant and I'd rather the fans be noisy than the computer overheat like my last laptop. There's also a grinding static coming from under the vent at the top of the keyboard. I don't know enough about computers to diagnose what part of its innards are causing it. Until I learn to tune it out, it's really irritating.
Overall though, for the price, it's a great laptop.
The computer does get super hot but that is to be expected with a gaming laptop. I ended up having to buy a fan.
The other day, my computer screen started freezing and glitching. I somehow lost the SDD so when I tried to load my game, it stated to download again. After rebooting several times, I found the fix by unplugging the computer from the power cable and rebooting. The SDD reappeared.
I will continue to see how it does and will update my review if there are any changes in my thoughts about it.
Update: Went from 3 to 1 star.
Now the computer keeps locking up every 15 minutes or so. I have to hard boot and now the "no media present" is back. It gets super hot as well. I am returning it before my 30 days is up. I guess I will be going to a competitor and paying for a more expensive one. Sad. Because I heard Alienware was great. But it's not.

Even after I deleted Killer WiFi app the unit frequently drops wifi connection - maybe a driver issue "killer" wifi is aptly named!
I like the Dell brand, but this unit needs better engineering to justify the pricetag.
