This is going to be coming from a photographer enthusiast and a gaming enthusiast. I’m not going to nit pick every fiber wrong with the monitor but rather what I have noticed on a day to day basis. I’ve owned the monitor since April 2020
First and foremost, this is a great monitor. I picked up photography while I was a senior in high school and I have quickly fallen into it with expensive gear and now expensive set ups. I need color and I need accurate color. This monitor checks that box pretty well. I enjoy everything about it in that regard.
The fact that its a high refresh rate screen really helps. I built a PC with a 2070 super in it and a Ryzen 5 3600, I can hit high frame in my games and I can do heavy photo manipulation - I wanted a high refresh rate screen as well to accommodate the PC and this thing delivers. I seriously enjoy this monitor and everything it brought to the table. Its on the pricey side but I recommend either waiting for this to dip into the sub $500 range or look on bhphoto for its sales.
The only thing that would drive me away from this monitor is its small port hub. It has 2 HDMI 2.0 (just good enough to drive that 2K144) and 1 DisplayPort 1.4. I suppose thats enough but I certainly would enjoy more. Its not that big of a deal at the end of the day. The monitor stand is also a bit lackluster with no real movement from it. VESA mounts are inexpensive and I highly recommend getting one anyways so at the end of the day, that is easy to disregard as well.
The speakers, although its monitor speakers, blow me away. I say that in relation to other monitor speakers. I already use headsets and earbuds for media use but whenever I have someone over, its nice to have a pretty decent set of speakers.
The HDRi is nice. Playing Modern Warfare 2019 allows the colors to pop more and keeps the shows I watch a little more lively. It is set to 400 nits I believe so its just barely hitting the marker for legitimate HDR but its great and I see nothing wrong from it. I enjoy it.
Pros -
Great picture fidelity
Great sound fidelity
Love the buttery smooth 144hz
Meh -
Response time is 5 seconds gtg but thats okay. Nothing to write home about but nothing thats subpar

Monitor Stand
All in all, for gaming, this delivers. For its picture quality/fidelity, this thing delivers. Its bright. Its color accurate. Its beautiful. Its clean. I love it and i’m sure anyone who buys it will love it as well.
Pros:
- Built-in subwoofer. What immediately stood out was the sound quality. The speakers are better than my 43 inch 4K gaming tv speakers (which I sold after I started using this monitor). I thought it was all purely hype. Couldn't be that decent I thought. Well I thought wrong.
- FreeSync Premium is glorious. Everything is way smoother at 144hz like browsing and every day application use, but my gaming has gone up a few notches. No more vsync for me. This set has a FreeSync range of 40fps - 144fps. As long as your fps is within that range, FreeSync is gonna work, and it works great. It feels and looks smother than vsync for sure.
- Monitor has a lot of useful settings for blue light and tired eyes. The IPS panel looks vibrant and gorgeous. Obviously this is an IPS so blacks aren't as black as black can be, but it's good enough to get a pass from someone like me who really cares about deep blacks.
- It comes with a remote and you wouldn't think this would be worth talking about, but the moment you stop having to reach behind or at the side of monitors for buttons, you never want to go back.
- Good build quality all around. Not disappointed by that at all, and it came professionally packaged.
- Great for gaming. No issues with input lag, motion blur or ghosting.
Cons:
- No built-in USB 3.0 ports. There are some very, very capable monitors in that price range ($350), even less, that can match this set in performance but they have USB ports. Extra ports are always a huge welcome. Obviously those don't have a built-in subwoofer, so go with what you need. I cared more about great sound out of the box so I picked my poison.
- Very limited ergonomics. The screen can tilt back and forward, that's it. No rotating, spinning, raising and dropping, nothing. If you're gonna buy this, do your homework. I have absolutely no problems and do not need to adjust anything, but I already factored in the height of my desk, chair, and the monitor, so I knew what it would feel like having it in front of me.
- Could be brighter. It's bright enough don't get me wrong, but I don't ever run my backlights at 100%. I usually do 60 - 65% to extend the life of my screens, and at 65% I've owned brighter panels. It's not a deal breaker at all, just thought I'd let you know everything.
- Because of the panel, expect some sort of backlight bleed somewhere. Mines is a tiny spot on the lower left hand bottom of the screen, like how the sun looks when it's halfway under the horizon. It's extremely light and not visible at all in the vast majority of cases but if you focus, you can see a little white light. Room usually has to be extremely dark, and you shouldn't be staring at a screen in a room that dark anyways. No dead pixels though thank gawd.
As usual, if it goes haywire at any time I'll return here to absolutely sink it in this review, but so far so good. Been using it heavily every day for a month with no issues.
Top reviews from other countries
Eventually the EX2780Q was available again for a reasonable price and I ordered. With approximately two week delivery time I really didn't want to have a bad panel and go through the headache of item exchanges / ordering something different.
Thankfully mine arrived in perfect condition with 0 bad pixels, and no noticeable IPS glow. Colors look amazing (mind you I upgraded from a +10 year old TN Syncmaster P2350 - looks newspaper now)
Was even able to get it running 144hz 10bit (8 + FRC), though I heard it can only run 10bit at 120hz. Works fine with Nvidia 2070 super g-sync. No funny business when setting up - only game with weird settings was Warzone which set wrong resolution and render scale to 50%.
Build quality looks amazing, I was a little concerned about the speaker 'chin' but took a chance since my old monitor has 1 inch bezel all around. It doesn't subtract anything for me. Buy a Vesa desk or wall mount, just don't even try the stand unless that's all you've got.
Remote control is really nice to switch HDR (which all look fine depending on use case), input when connecting work laptop, and volume when using speakers - they sound fine, plenty good for light entertainment use, I probably won't watch movies or play any kind of immersive game with them.
Overall I was a little unsure what to expect as I had never used 1440p 144hz and for all I know there there might be much better competition out there (the LG for example), and this had me researching like mad to try and buy the perfect monitor. The reality is, it's a premium improvement over the old TN and works perfectly so far without any noticed issues - at all. Yes I would probably be writing an equivalent statement had I ordered another similar monitor, and maybe that's about what sums this up. Unless you have tried and tested equivalent monitors and truly have something specific in mind, this one is an excellent purchase that you would be unlikely to regret.

I ordered the Benq monitor, made the payment on Amazon expecting that the order will be fulfilled just like any other order on Amazon. The item comes to my home and the delivery man asks for cash for the item. I was surprised and told him that I have already paid it on Amazon. But he told me that this is Cash on Delivery item and you have to pay to get this item.
First, if the item is not Amazon fulfilled it extremely hard to reach amazon customer care. It took me almost an hour (not in terms of waiting time but to find where to call) to reach them. But they were prompt in response and agreed that the item is prepaid and the delivery man should not be asking for cash. This should solve the issue right. But it did not. He did not accept any proof on the payment neither from me nor from Amazon customer care executive, hence, the delivery had to be refused.
So I wrote a bad review of the seller on Amazon.
After half an hour I got a call from the seller that the item was mistakenly put in cash on delivery category (still baffles me how someone can put the item which is fully paid in the cash on delivery category). They further said if I had paid to delivery man (thinking: why would I?) then they will online transfer me the amount back. I told them I refused the delivery because I would not repay (thinking: who would?). So they said when the delivery man comes next time I should pay them, and the seller would online transfer the money. For 31K rupees, I said I won't subscribe to it. If it was 1-2K then I might. So they said that I should call them when the delivery man comes and they will pay him directly so that I can get my order. I said I'm fine with this arrangement.
Even after 2 days and messages to the seller, the delivery has not yet been re-attempted. In addition, there is no clarity when it is going to be delivered. Amazon tracking is stuck on "out for delivery, you will receive item by 9PM today" for last 3 days. Except for some banal assurance from the seller that they have escalated the delivery, I have no clarity on the delivery.
The reason I want this clarity is I have to be at home to receive the order, and cannot ask the delivery man to drop it of at the security because of cash on delivery issue, and the seller paying him for me to get the item. Not many buyer know this but if your order is not Amazon fulfilled and is from seller like these, and you're not at home when delivery is attempted then the seller has the right to charge you for the return shipping.
Question for buyers like us: Do we want to subscribe to all of these?
So I called Amazon customer care, and asked him to cancel the order and requested to return me the money back so that I can make a fresh order from Amazon and not from sellers like these. So that I can get the item delivered on time without any issue, and can start using it to increase my productivity.
Amazon customer care told me that they cannot cancel this item. All they can do is apply AtoZ guarantee for getting me my money back. Which says that I have to wait for 3 additional business days after the last delivery attempt, then I will have to call the Amazon customer care to initiate the request on my money back. In total would at least take more than 3-5 business days.
My only recommendation is please beware of these stipulations when you are buying from sellers on Amazon. Try to get a Amazon fulfilled order even if it is little more expensive. But then you will find that the sellers are always more expensive.
This monitor has an IPS panel. That means you're going to get very good colours and viewing angles. What you'll give up is one of the most important qualities, contrast. If you own an OLED TV (I do) you'll be boggled by the difference in the quality of the blacks. If you can live with that meaningful flaw this BenQ is a strong option.
The colors are excellent. The OSD is very good, made better by the inclusion of a remote control. I didn't think I'd need it as the monitor is within reach but it does simplify usage and now I wouldn't want to do without. The speakers are (for the size of a flat screen monitor) excellent and well voiced. If you're a an audiophile you're going to want to add your own speakers (I will). If you're a little less picky and don't need a lot of volume or dynamic range you'll be satisfied with what's provided.
The monitor offers a high refresh rate that works with my Nvidia graphics card. I haven't played a lot of games lately but Doom (2016) looks great with smooth motion and no obvious artifacts.
If you're looking at this monitor to provide a quality HDR experience, sorry, it's a no go. No monitor in this price range will do so. Look at something rated at least HDR 600 that isn't edge lit.
Other flaws, the metal stand's brown covering chipped in one place almost immediately. Said stand also does not rotate or (most irritatingly) have any provision to change height. You can tilt the panel through a narrow range up and down. If you have a VESA arm I believe this monitor is compatible.
I bought this monitor during a boxing day sale and am happy with what I got for what I paid. This BenQ receives my recommendation.
Lots of options in the OSD and the screen looked great out of the box (for me anyway). Has three video ports (two HDMI 2.0 and a Displayport). Although, keep in mind that it doesn't come with a DP cable, so order one with it when you're buying this! Build quality all around is great. Comes with a remote and a little silicone(?) pad for the remote to rest on, which just conveniently fits in the rectangle gap in the stand, under the monitor.
If I'm being honest, the only thing that would bug me would be the lacking HDRi feature, but with my PS4 Pro, it works well for the most part. Some games take better advantage of the HDRi technology. I just keep it off for the most part. It does display my PS4 Pro in "4K" quality, which I'm assuming is a downsampled 4K signal. Definitely looks sharper and better overall than a 1080p signal.
Overall: I would recommend this monitor, especially if you're looking to do the following: 1) gaming in 1440p, 144Hz on your PC. 2) content creation, be it video or photo editing. IPS display is better than VA or TN panels when it comes to colour accuracy. 3) using the monitor to game on both the PC AND PS4/PS4 Pro.
