Get lost in the game

The full array: With new IPS Nano Color technology, you experience colors as they were designed to be by the content creators with 98% DCI-P3 color coverage, which is a professional color gamut that has greater range than sRGB.

In a flash: A true 2ms gray-to-gray response time with Overdrive and the 120Hz refresh rate enables fast, responsive gameplay with no artificial tricks needed. The 120Hz refresh rate keeps up with the action, allowing you to experience every moment of the world you’re gaming in.

Ready to roll: NVIDIA G-SYNC technology displays full frames only when the monitor is ready to display them. This means your screen frames stay in sync with your NVIDIA graphics card, so you can say goodbye to distortions—like tearing and artifacts—and get used to smooth, vibrant images.

See everything

Completely immerse yourself with a sweeping, 1900R curved display that takes you deeper into the game and a 21:9 aspect ratio that makes every vantage point epic. The curved screen maximizes your field of vision, reducing eye movement, so you can stay comfortably focused on the game longer.

Get real: A 3440 X 1440 WQHD resolution display delivers sharp, crystal-clear graphics with 4.9 million pixels—1.79 times more detail than a WFHD display. So you’ll see every blade of grass, every glint of steel, every drop of sweat more vividly, intensely and richly than ever before.

An advantage from every angle

Real speed: New, fast Nano Color IPS technology for gaming allows for a true 2ms response time, not an artificial anti-blurring solution that impacts brightness, adaptive sync or the worlds you’re exploring.

No wash out: Whether you game head on, or at an angle, you'll see all the action clearly with IPS (in plane switching) technology.

True colors: With up to 98% DCI-P3 color coverage, you have a wide array of colors in your arsenal.

A legend rises

In a return to form, Alienware has introduced the Legend Industrial Design. It is a new, bolder, sculpted, universal, minimal and iconic expression of the Alienware brand. It’s also engineered for cable management, with quick-access ports on the underside and a cable pass-through in the stand.

    Pure Bliss

    Pure Bliss
I upgraded to this monitor from an older TN 144hz ROG Swift 1440p Monitor. Like others, I was concerned about the drop from 144hz to 120hz, since I'm very sensitive to that type of minutiae, but I haven't found it to be an issue. I can tell, slightly, but the difference is minuscule, especially compared to 60hz vs 120hz.Here's some quick Pro's:1. Color is fantastic. Obviously going from a TN panel this is the first thing I noticed. I do a lot of photo collage to make paintings from, and this monitor is as color-accurate as I could want.2. 120hz is perfect for a monitor like this. Most newer titles won't run close to 120hz, even with a 2080ti (Metro Exodus with RTX most notably), but when you do hit that sweet, sweet native refresh rate (Doom Eternal) it's mind-blowing.3. Ultrawide makes immersive games even more engrossing. I held off on playing Metro Exodus for a year until I could upgrade my rig and play it on this monitor with RTX enabled. I'm glad I did, because the experience is incomparable to a typical 16:9 viewing ratio. Having the screen extend a little further into your peripheral makes game worlds feel more convincing. From a practical standpoint, having more screen real-estate in shooters, especially something like Battlefield 1 or Doom Eternal is so helpful it can feel like an unfair advantage. So, in conclusion, ultrawide benefits narrative, immersive games just as much as fast, twitchy shooters. No complaints.4. Gsync is 100% worth the price premium. I know people are divided on this, and it seems that more and more monitors are gaining Gsync compatibility without the hardware (not sure how that works). No screen tearing without input lag is just a necessity for me at this point and it's made a lot of titles easier to play, especially ones locked at 60 fps on an engine level.5. I'm a fan of the design, and if the lighter-colored back of the monitor bothers you, I haven't seen it once since setting up my desk. The monitor controls are fairly intuitive to use, but I still prefer the ROG Swift's little joystick knob controls. Bad monitor controls are just par for the course for some reason, so I can't really knock Alienware for this.6. Out of the box, the default settings were nearly perfect. I didn't have to tweak too much to get the brightness/contrast/color to where I wanted it.7. If you do any sort of work on your computer, such as video editing, photo editing, etc, having the extra screen space is a game changer.8. Price. I managed to get mine for around $950ish earlier this year. That's a really fantastic price for the feature set here, in my opinion. The only cons I can really come up with might not be an issue for you. The monitor obviously takes up a ton of space, so make sure you have a desk that can handle it comfortably. It's not no much the depth as the width. Most new games are easy to play in Ultrawide, and they have native support in the game menu, but a LOT of older titles will require tweaking. It's not as big of a deal as the internet would have you believe, as most games I've played do have a work-around that isn't complicated to enable, but I have found some games that aren't compatible, period. Prey, the 2006 version, is unplayable at Ultrawide, unless you can contend with a severely stretched image. That's one of my favorite games ever, so it is disappointing. Point is, if you hate finagling with config settings to get a game to work, this monitor could prove to be annoying. If you're a PC gamer though, this shouldn't be new to you.Overall, I have no real complaints about the monitor. 3440x1440 is perfect, 120hz is great (144hz would be better, but what are you gonna do), the color is vivid and accurate, setup is easy, and your gaming and workstation experiences will be better for owning this monitor. Just make sure you have a fairly beefy GPU if you want to run newer games on the highest settings.

Update. Used it every day for a few months now. Zero issues. It does seem like there is a bit more back bleed in the corners now but unless your looking for it you just don't see it. I have it on an amazon basics arm
(AmazonBasics Premium Single Monitor Stand - Lift Engine Arm Mount, Aluminum - Black)

I've had it since 2018 and i's a beast of a mount. Get's moved and adjusted constantly depending on what I am doing on the computer and no issues. Really like the Alienware display. As with any display you need to dial it in to your tastes and I did that the first day and have since played with all the features and love it. I don't use the speakers. Good purchase although I would not have replaced my X34 with it had the X34 not been destroyed.
I wasn't planning to upgrade my display till the end of 2020. While rearranging my setup for DCS I managed to put a keyboard corner into the X34 pbmiphzx and turned it into a 30 inch screen. While trying to live with it while getting up to speed with displays out now things went "melty, smokey, fiery" fun and that was it for a good x34 I had since May 2018. Now I was back to a ASUS VE276Q Black 27 from 2011 and after you go wide screen there is just no going back so after catching up on what's out I went with the Alienware. VERY HAPPY. It's a very nice screen with deep blacks and really good colors compared to the other 34in. Very little bleed around the corners. Almost none at the top and just a bit around the controls on the lower right. Took awhile to get it all setup and I was REALLY impressed. I play with the lights in the room on dim or off and by brightness setting was turned down quite a bit. I see people complaining about it but for me it's perfect. Did a clean install with the GFroce drivers and set it to 120hz. Using an EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hydro Copper to push the graphics with no issues. It's mounted on a dual display VESA mounting arm that gets moved around every day and the added cord hooks on the back do a perfect job of not pulling at the connection points. Nice slide on cover to really lock them down. Really like the light system on this one but I have already been through my RGB dance for me baby phase so for the most part everything is set to red but you have some good options for lighting. Kind of a shame that I am not using the included stand. It's crazy solid with more light options on it. The little touch on/off light on the bottom of the screen is really useful. Only change I would make to that is a touch brightness and color option for that. 2 USB ports right at the bottom hold my USB Unifying Receiver and my 3D printer thumb drive nub. Out of the way but right there when needed. More USB ports on the back but all I have is the TrackIR5 in there. There is very little piano black which is good as I leave fingerprints over everything. The entire rear panel is all greyish white and to be honest I don't care for it much. There is absolutely no heat coming off it so I plan to wrap the rear in vinyl. Little Alien dude in the corner lights up which is just fluff but it's nice. I had an Alienware M17 R2 back in 2010 and just never thought about them again once it's time had past. Really good controls. Very easy to use and move around. Standard power cord and extra cables included. As long as everything keeps doing it's job over the next year I may push back upgrading my display another year or so. Maybe pick up another used one to replace that ASUS which I use as a 2nd screen for in game instructions and basic functions like news and quick net searches. Not a fan of their pricing. It came out at 1500 and went on sale for sub 1k which was were is should have been priced from the start but it is worth every penny of that 1k price in my book. Just missed the good sales but what can you do when your not shopping for a new display. Overall I think this is a fantastic choice for gaming and movies. No HDR or sky high HZ options which is what I was waiting for to upgrade but at 120hz native it's ripping it up. Oh ..Good packing job with the Alienware box. It's the Xmass rush and Amazon has falling a little short on the packing jobs this month. Normally you get tons of air bags and what not. All this had was a bit of brown paper tossed in which did absolutely nothing in the slightly larger box it shipped in so the Alienware box had a few dents in the corners but not a single thing was out of place in the factory box. Normally Prime does a better job. I once got a pack of cheap metal paint brushes that was packed up like the most fragile object ever shipped. If your on the fence with this one go ahead and get it. Good price for the spec and looks amazing.

Ok, I'm totally blown away by this monitor, and there's a few things I really want to hightlight about it.

    1. Refresh Rate: First, only because it surprised me so much, was the 120 Hz refresh rate. I just switched from three 1080p, 60 Hz monitors that I've been using for a bunch of years. Having never used a higher refresh rate monitor, I thought "how could that possibly make a difference? Who cares? I just want a pristine image." Well, let me tell you it does make a difference. The second I change this display from 60 to 120 AT THE DESKTOP it was a major improvement!!! I can't get 120 in games yet until I update my GPU, but so far even just everyday tasks are benefiting in a huge way from 120Hz. Note that as you go up in frame rate there is increasingly diminished returns....the jump from 60 to 120 WILL be extremely noticeable; the jump to 144 less so, and the jump higher than that will be subjective on whether or not its worth it. So keep that in mind if you're torn on this or a display with a higher refresh rate than 120.

    2. Productivity: I was so close to getting a work monitor and a gaming monitor because I wasn't sure if I could get used to ultrawide. After spending all day yesterday gaming, watching movies, and trying out multiple applications I will never, ever go back to my old set up. This thing is wide enough and has a high enough resolution that I can view between two and three open windows at once, which is far nicer than my old 27" 1080p, where just two often got squished and weren't full.

    3. Immersion: The extra immersion provided by the wrap-around view of 21:9 truly cannot be understated or undersold. To understand, try to imagine what it would be like going back to watching full-screen movies on an old 4:3 standard def tv. You know how you'd be missing a ton of image on the left and right? This is kind of like that....when jumping up from a regular "wide" to an ultrawide, you gain a lot more image on the sides, which makes everything seem more natural and immersive. And not just games....a lot of movies are shot in 21:9, so when you watch something, it fills the whole screen and there aren't any black bars. Seriously....once you try an ultrawide you won't go back.

    3. Image: The image and color quality are very good, for my eyes anyway. I haven't color-calibrated the monitor yet, but it is already a massive improvement over my previous monitor. Blacks are deep and colors pop. No complaints here. I dig the IPS thing.

    4. Build quality: Another ace here. Dell/Alienware did a great job with aethetics. This monitor has a beautiful finish, nice bezels, a nice not-too-much level of curvature, and a really cool port hole in the stand that you can rout your cables through. The stand is also a really big, sturdy thing that lets you raise, tilt, and turn the monitor, which again was well thought out and executed nice. It even has a blue under-glow light in the center under the logo that shines on your desk, and you can turn it on/off by swiping over it with your finger! Lastly, mine arrived in good condition; no dead pixels or anything. Based on the other reviews here, I think Dell is great with quality control.

Overall, I highly recommend this monitor. I just did a significant overall of my whole PC and setup, and this was the best upgrade I made.

Cons: there is something I see no one talking about in regards to HRD monitors and older intel CPU, Video playback is horrible I haven't tested newer intel CPUs but anything launched before before 2018 from intel has bad video on a HDR monitor from my testing and analyzing got a AMD CPU and video playback was perfect I suspected this which is why I kept the monitor but I'm happy I did...: Next is the RGB is a joke is not bright enough and for over thousand dollars I feel it should have a music mode and video visualizer also only has 1 RGB mode ???....: also is pretty pricey.....: and last is not just this monitor but I feel like all monitors should have and auto color calibration feature :P....: due to the size most sites have big black or white borders which feels like a waste of screen BUT it is a marketed as a gaming monitor so i guess it gets a pass also to combat this i just have two applications side by side makes it a much better

Pros: Videos Playback is super smooth and colors are pleasing to look at had and HRD monitor and honestly is the same HRD is mostly hype...: The Peripherals amount of connections are great...: input lag is perfect...: and gaming is where it really shines as is ultra smooth...: and last the aesthetics are really nice looks good in pictures but in person it looks perfect.... i know i wrote a lot more on the Cons but i feel like this does have more positives than then negatives if you can you're able to spend the money

This monitor is beautiful. No dead or stuck pixels. Easy setup. Picture quality is fantastic. If you are on the fence, you will not regret it.

One small thing is that the power button glows, so you manually have to turn off the monitor to stop this behaviour (if you leave it to sleep it will slowly glow on and off - which can be bad if in the same room as you sleep in).

The box it ships in is MASSIVE and not discreet, so make sure you opt for amazon packaging if you live in an area susceptible to thievery.

I am running a 980, i5 4690k, 16GB DDR4...etc. it's running just fine. Unless you're looking to absolutely max out every game, you should be OK if you have the specs above or better. However, to fully realize the potential of the monitor, you would be foolish not to have an Nvidia card that can push the frames and utilize the GSYNC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't dare to look anywhere else... This is the monitor of 2020 (and for 2021 possibly).

I just received this gorgeous beast of a monitor, and I am over the moon. I haven't been this happy about a purchase in along time.

I had the previous AW3814DW model, and the picture quality on this newer model is vastly better (and the previous generation was great!) The colours are saturated, punchy, and the response time is amazing. I mainly play COD Warfare, Madden 20, and Apex... it's like having a third set of eyes (seriously).

Important notes: My particular unit has absolutely no backlight bleeding, no dead pixels and very minimal IPS glow. I hear the AW3420DW quality control was a lot better than the previous generation and I can certainly attest to that.

This has easily been the best investment I've made in 2020. I also work from home so this is a win-win situation on all ends. Go buy this now I've you've been thinking about it... Now.

PS: If you have any particular questions about it let me know!
