Pro tip, make sure the power cord clicks into the back of the laptop. Had a bit of scare initially because it wasn't pressed in enough.
Bought this for the express purpose of gaming on the go. Pretty impressive how much power they fit into such a compact machine. In my opinion 1440p is the sweet spot for gaming, and this machine will not disappoint especially at 165hz.
GTA V at max settings (no msaa) with extended shadows I netted between 90-120 fps on average. Rocket League a nice smooth 165fps most of the time. RDR2 is a monster but it gets around 40-60 fps at ultra which is still impressive.
Time will tell but first impressions I'm very happy with the performance out of the box. Look forward to many hours of gaming with this thing.
Edit: After about a month of use couple things to keep in mind. Despite every setting I could possibly find to disable it, even the GPU 3D settings, ACER settings, power settings, everything, I can not stop this laptop from cutting it's performance when unplugged. When the laptop is not plugged in it will cap your FPS and you will lose overall gaming performance. From what I can tell there is no way around this unfortunately. Not uncommon in laptops.
As you can imagine things can get pretty hot when you are running high end games. Auto fan doesn't run high enough IMO. I had to manually adjust the fans to keep temps optimal. Acer has a built in software for easy adjustments. I also purchased a $30 laptop stand with built in fans. A little extra cooling won't hurt.
