Buyer Beware - End of Life
They're turning off a crucial part of the Seagate NAS May 15, 2021. This is precisely why I bought a Synology DS II years ago. Seagate's software was never up to snuff and they're giving up. Synology is still going strong, continually upgrading / updating. For those who need access via FTP, your lives are not changing. Yet. Same with those who access it via network protocols. For those of us who use the other functions, too bad so sad. Thankfully our Seagate became a storage redundancy for us with the purchase of the Synology. The Synology backs up to the Seagate via Synology's superior tools. I feel badly for those who don't have a contingency, which is why I'm posting this review. Trying to give fair warning a) not to blow $250 on something that has 3 months of life left and b) I never liked the Seagate NAS.We tried a WD cloud as well, and it was worse than the Seagate. Astonishing, I know. Anyway, wanted to post this information to save folks some money and headaches down the road. I really like our Synology and it is so far advance of my technological know-how that I Know techies will love tinkering with it. I wish I knew how to work everything it has - my own email server, for example . . ..
    Thank you for your feedback
