    Currently using this NVME SSD as my main storage and i am impressed for the price i have purchased it.Came from a very known brand but after a couple of years of being a loyal user i started to feel that i was only the loyal one and quality started to deteriorate, slow through the years. I had a failing 980 pro and a constantly 970 that kept becoming invisible within my computer setup. Therefor i started to shift my focus on other brands that also give you the same performance and cost less. Don't mind the setup. its a working progress :-)

    Hynix has been making reliable, and professional PC memory cards since the early
    80's.

    I know this statement to be true, because I'm still using some of their Hynix
    memory cards made in the 80's to run some of our old IT legacy Windows XP
    computers at my work and on the job everyday...

    Hynix makes some excellent SSD storage cards as well. I bought one of their
    high performance SSD cards earlier this month and I put it straight into my
    HP Omen 16 gaming PC at home, with no problems this SSD card works
    like a charm and read/write access speeds are indeed much faster today
    than any other SSD card that I've bought here on Amazon in the past year
    or two...

    So, if you want an extremely fast and reliable SSD card, then buy a Hynix
    brand SSD card and you won't ever be sorry that you did... I'm not sorry
    that I did at all!

    Capacity: 2TBVerified Purchase
    Was previously using sk Hynix's 1TB P31 Gold SSD.
    Cloning: Used the standard Macrium cloning software from the sk Hynix web site (SKHSSD.exe). Same version as before (V2.0.6896). No VSS errors. My primary data partition was last, so extending that was a breeze.
    Installation: No issues. I temporarily installed it in my 2nd M2 slot for the cloning process, then simply replaced the old SSD with the new one. I have it installed under my GPU so it pulls the heat away from the SSD.
    Temps: Located in the lowest M4 slot. Note: ensure this thing gets plenty of air. Uncovered (no heatsinks) it will idle around 48C; with a good airflow that drops 11C. I will add an internal fan to ensure it gets lots of air so no heatsink is needed.
    Bottom line: Good performance and capacity for the price. I'm sold on sk Hynix. Plus, the heat spreader looks nice in the case.

    I bought this version for my os drive and a P31 2tb for storage and games in my new Windows PC build. And like every SK Hynix SSD (I have bought 5 in the last 4 years), it just works, and at the advertised speeds.

    I am a customer for life, I will always buy SK Hynix, they cost a little more, but the little additional cost is well worth it! Never cheap out on PC parts you rely on, and these, you can rely on!

    Ok I did quite some research on a new gen-4 nvme drive, 2TB.
    My options were among the WD SN850X, the Crucial T500, Lexar NM790 and this Hynix Platinum P41.

    As far as speed concerns, all of them are in the same range. I wanted good random 4K performance and a drive that doesn't run too hot. The Crucial and the WD get quite hot, the Lexar seems a bit better in that regard. But I ended up buying the P41 primarily for its efficiency.
    Also, the drive has its own Hynix controller and Hynix flash memory as opposed to the Phison controllers and Chinese flash memory found on a lot of drives these days.
    Anyway, I'm very happy with the P41. Got 7400 MB/s read, and 6600 MB/s write. Temps are 56 Celsius idle, 63 Celsius under load, with heatsink that is. For comparison, the Crucial T500 reached 80 degrees Celsius under load! So yes, I would definitely recommend this drive.
    Note: Because of price fixing I got this ("on sale") for 139 USD. Nvme drives were a lot cheaper last year.

    I have a high power pc and was using a 970 EVO as my c drive, it worked until it failed. Despite Samsung Magician this thing died giving no warning, but that's the way of things now. Got a 990 and noticed the entire system was a bit more sluggish then the 970. I swapped out the Samsung for the Hynix and the system is significantly faster and more responsive. I will keep the 990 as a backup (I use Aomei as a back up solution) but would suggest you try this NVMe M.2 definitely much much faster.

    I strongly feel that price informs value, so I try to include the price paid in all my reviews and suggest everyone do the same. In this case, I paid $114.60 on 1/2/24.

    The Samsung/Hynix price fixing means that you really shouldn't buy a SSD in 2024. But I had gift cards to spend and the depredations of the these companies hadn't fully hit by the first of the year.

    Hynix drives an easy choice for me. They use less power, generate less heat, and perform as good as, if not better in some cases, than a comparable Samsung SSD. I have been using several of their P31 drives for years w/o any issue.

    If you absolutely need a Gen4 SSD, this is still the way to go. the gen3 P31 would probably not be noticeably slower to most use cases and it's possible there will be better deals on the older generation. But if you don't "NEED" an SSD, use that money elsewhere in 2024 and maybe we can reverse this awful trend.

    The rule of thumb for 2023 for NVME SSD was $30/TB for Chinese Drives and $50/TB for premium Korean Drives. As of the time of this review, the P41 2TB is listed for $160.
