Straight up wasn't impressed when I opened the box. They are packaged just fine and I appreciate the use of paper and cardboard instead of foam or plastic. However, when I pulled the case out it felt somewhat cheap to me. The plastic of the case seems thin and a bit delicate. Same goes for the earbuds themselves. They don't have a substantial weight or heft - and I'm comparing them to my Sony XM3 wireless earbuds.
But then I put them in and fired up some music and forgot all about that stuff. They sound great. Like seriously, very good sounding ear buds, and the noise cancelation actually works quite well. I wore them while I was doing a little woodworking in the garage, using a belt sander, and shop vac. Please don't use these for ear protection, but honestly, they cut the noise down quite well without me having to crank the volume. These are nice and punchy, which I want from my earbuds, without being boomy, but probably my favorite thing about them???
NO APP!! I love this. Thank you for not making download yet another app to control these things. Simple gestures control the ANC, the 'latency' mode, skipping, pausing, etc. My aforementioned Sony's use an app and frankly I hate it. It's bloated and full of options I'll never use, but you literally cannot pair the buds without it. Anyway, back to these HyperXs. I also found that them feeling light turned out to be a big pro. They rest nicely in the ear, and I've even been able to nap on my side with them in and they're not pressing into my head. After a little while, you forget you have them in. Phone calls sound good on them and the far end tells me that I sound pretty good too. A charge lasts as long or longer as claimed too, so no complaints there.
If I had any negatives it would be the sound effects that I *think* are indicating that I'm losing connection. Every so often I'll hear a strange tone and I assume it means I'm disconnected, but I haven't heard the music cut out. Sometimes it is nice when you hear a voice say 'pairing' or 'disconnected' or something, just so you know what is going on. This is pretty minor though. Overall, I am very pleasantly surprised and I definitely recommend them!

Smarter than the average bud
I think the sound quality is excellent. They are comfortable, good looking and work well. Easy to pair and hold a solid BT connection. I really like that when only one bud is in your ear, both channels are broadcast to the single ear bud. Put the other one in and it reverts to stereo sound. Maybe this is a new standard for ear buds, but nothing I have owned.Descent bass, crisp highs, overall good, well balanced sound. Good battery life and charge relatively quick.For a moderately priced set of earbuds, these are a good choice.
