TL;DR 2 -> Buy this and a power delivery capable USB-C to USB-C for a more portable Nintendo Switch charging option
Edit (14 Dec 17): Still working great, and now that I have a Nintendo Switch, this adapter charges it well with this USB-C to USB-C power delivery cable [USB-IF Certified] Cable Matters USB Type-C Charging Cable with Power Delivery up to 100W in Black 6.6 Feet / 2m
Edit (4 Aug 17): Just picked up a 2nd Gen 12.9" iPad Pro, and it seems to charge this one even faster than the 1st gen, which is cool with me!
Since purchasing my 12.9" iPad Pro over a year ago, I've been on the fence about purchasing Apple's 29W USB-C charger along with the USB-C to Lightning cable, mostly due to the high cost; $50 for the adapter and at least $35 for the 6ft cable. When I saw Anker had released this adapter at a much lower price, I was still waiting to purchase it, because I figured I usually worked until the battery was almost depleted, then charged it and came back hours later to work again.
I use my iPad Pro solely for the use of art and design work, using apps like Procreate, Autodesk Sketchbook, etc. Recently, a piece I was working on necessitated heavier use in Sketchbook. The pitiful charger that the iPad came with couldn't keep up with the power demands of the iPad running Sketchbook. I started drawing with about 80% charge, after about 2 hours, I got the "5% battery remaining" notification. Even while plugged in, I lost 75% battery charge. This was the last straw. I instantly hopped on Amazon to purchase this and went to the Apple website for the cable (many have claimed the cable on Amazon is not a genuine Apple product).
I was working on a piece last night, and to my pleasure, while plugged into the charger, the iPad was ACTUALLY charging! Amazing!
Realistically, this type of charger and the associated cable should have been included with the iPad Pro... at the very least, the 12.9" model. If Apple is going to tout this device as a near-replacement for a laptop, they need to ensure it comes with the necessary power delivery to charge WHILE working.
Pros:
Small-ish
Works as it's supposed to
Price compared to equivalent Apple offering
Cons:
None
Generally, I’m hesitant to use third party chargers with my Macs – some years ago I had a malfunctioning charger fry my motherboard. However, Anker has, time and time again, delivered good products and I haven’t had any failures (or heard about any failures) which have damaged products. So, I thought I’d give it a try.
This charger has a nice, solid feel to it. It has a matte finish that is a lot like the Anker 10 port USB chargers. The electrical prongs flip out like other Anker adapters. There’s a blue light on the front of the adapter that lets you know that it’s powered.
I was curious to see if the adapter would charge quickly unlike the USB 2 to USB-C adapter I usually use to charge my MacBook overnight. It didn’t disappoint. MacOS projected just about an hour to top off my battery at 90% (it usually takes longer to charge the last few percent of most batteries). My MacBook seemed to have no problem charging while I was completing tasks (i.e., high CPU utilization). By contrast, an underpowered adapter will show “Battery is Not Charging” when the MacBook’s CPU is under load. So, test 1: passed!
I also tried the adapter with my Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. It worked and charged my MacBook at the same time. (Some other USB-C chargers don’t do this.) This means I don’t have to choose between powering my MacBook and USB 2.0 and HDMI outputs. So, test 2: passed!
At this point, there seems to be no reason to prefer the much more expensive Apple adapters to the Anker product. The Anker might even have a slightly better build and, due to its black color, is a bit more discrete if you keep it plugged in all the time.
Unlike some other competitors, this adapter supports USB-C with power delivery. That means that it should charge my MacBook 2015 and my iPad Pro 9.7” at full speed.
Here are the following adapters you’ll need:
USB-C to Lightning -> For iPad, iPhone
USB-C to USB-C -> MacBook or another USB-C Device

It's exactly as fast as Nintendo's Switch charger, which means it's also about twice as fast as USB-C chargers that don't support Power Delivery. Unlike most other 30W USB PD chargers I've seen, these speeds are consistent. This is only slightly smaller than Nintendo's charger but it's more portable because the prongs fold in and the cable is removable. This is cheaper but bigger than Google's 18W Pixel charger which works just as well with Switch.
This works with my Dell XPS 13 (9350) laptop, but because it's 30W instead of 45W, the laptop shows a warning at boot that says the battery may drain faster than it charges during high-load situations. It works fine for me but it definitely charges a lot slower than a 45W charger. At half the price of a Dell charger I have no complaints. I hope Anker revises and re-releases the 60W version of this charger at a good price.
It works just as well with Nexus 5X and Google Pixel as their OEM chargers. This charger has excellent USB-C and PD compliance so it should work well with basically every USB-C device except OnePlus.
I don't like the light. I keep it plugged in next to my bed and feel the need to cover it with tape.

the adapter stopped working 6 months in. I thought it might have been the cable so tried it with a couple and also got a new one still no good. It started charging devices very slowly and then just stopped. Used to have an high opinion of Anker hence always prepared to pay higher price than alternatives available on amazon. but this is a second Anker product that has broken for me in a couple of months, the other was an Anker power bank. Very dissappointed in the quality. was great while it worked.
Original:
Works pretty well. Don’t like that it does not have Indian pins or an adapter. The pins can sometimes cause loose connections.
