Olympus TP-8 Telephone Pick-up Microphone

Ever need to record an important telephone conversation? The TP-8 (Telephone Pickup) is ideal for recording both sides of the conversation.

When speaking on the telephone, the TP-8 acts as a microphone to capture both sides of the dialogue onto a voice recorder. Ear pads in three different sizes (S/M/L) are included to ensure a long-lasting comfortable fit.

To use: Plug the TP-8 jack into the "MIC" jack of your recorder and the in-ear headphone into your ear.

The TP-8 is recommended for both cellular phones and landline phones, including DECT standards.

Major PROs are:1. Nothing complicated (no software, no battery/power).2. Works with pretty much any phone.3. Works with any recorder (voice recorder, PC, etc.) as long as it can provide phantom power to the microphone. One tiny CON I can think of is that you can't switch ears while using a normal handset/phone with this. However, you can use it with a stereo headset, like the generic "call center headset" in the photo (obviously not included) for long calls. You obviously can't use anything that will go into the ear canal, such as an earbud.I'm using mine with an old Roland R-05 recorder. Back in those days, devices used standard batteries (AA batteries), rather than built-in rechargeable battery, and I liked that.

Works great, but needs an adapter to work with any device that has a combo audio input/output jack.
Most cell phones, tablets, and some laptops have this type of jack now.
So an adapter that has a four contact male 3.5 mm plug to separate audio input and output sockets is needed. Adapters of this type are available on Amazon for little money. Add a voice recorder app and your all set.
The Olympus and other dedicated voice recorders as well as some computers that have a dedicated audio input jack and will not need an adapter.
