    I love the audio from these headphones. I don't even have the MixAmp Pro TR which supposedly gives them an even better sound. I personally keep the customizable backplates off because I think they look better without them. They are very comfortable, adjustable and I love being able to take the ear cushions off for cleaning.The only problem I have with these headphones is their build quality. The soft plastic coating began to rub off almost immediately. This mostly happens in the spots where it contacts my hair. There is unavoidably some amount of oils that cause the coating to degrade and strip off. Unfortunate, but not a deal-breaker. It just makes them look old and worn out within a few weeks of use.

    I bought these looking to replace my “Logitech Pro X (wired) and it was the BEST decision ever! I purchased the Logitech headset thinking it would be great for the PS5, but when I received it the microphone never worked… the sound was great for them, but the lack of a working microphone for a ($130) headset at the time, really upset me. Also Logitech Customer Service was terrible.

    I bought the Astro A40s recently, and was skeptical at first, given that it’s parent company is, well Logitech. Oh was I wrong though, when I finally got them in the mail, it was fast shipping. Once I plugged them in, it sounded like a home theater, but on my ears! I also tested the microphone, and everything worked like it should have, and people say I sound good on their end too. I highly recommend getting these, especially for next (current gen) consoles. They sound superb! Especially tuned with Astro Audio V2, made for next gen.

    I have only had this headset for 2 days now so please keep that in mind as you read.

    My Astro A40 TR came well packaged and undamaged. As soon as I opened the box I already fell in love with just the look and style of the headset. Black and blue with silver trimming is my favorite color combination and thus why I purchased. I have an older Astro A40 headset that was given to me as a gift but it was in a camo brown and green pattern for Xbox, which I wasn't quite as fond of but still greatly appreciated. So in light of me buying a Ps4 pro I decided to pick up a new headset to match. As soon as I put on the headset, booted up the Ps4, and listened to just the menu background I was already feeling satisfied. Very clear and vivid sound as expected. I actually took my headset off at first because I thought the sound was coming through my speakers in my room but it was just that the headset did such a good job making me feel encircled in just the "set up menu" music for the Ps4. I played some games such as Spiderman and Apex (Got 3 wins btw). Thoroughly enjoyed listening for footsteps and felt very comfortable and engulfed in the gameplay. Like I said I have had an older A40 headset before and it still functions great to this day, so I already knew Astro was a reliable brand, I just wanted another for my new Ps4 pro that was also more of my style. I take good care of my electronics so my experience with them breaking due to my own fault are few and far between. If this headset were to show any issues, it would likely be due to manufacturing error and I will update my review here detailing it. I personally don't feel I will have any issues with these though, I am very pleased with them.

    Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I believe the headset delivers high quality audio and would certainly recommend to friends in need of a good headset that have some extra change to spare.

    (Note): I used this headset with the same Mix Amp Pro TR that comes in the bundle.

    I will update if any issues or anything of that sort occurs, but otherwise I stand by my review. Hope it helps and happy searching!

    Ok, There are some reviews here that trash this device, after playing around with it and adding the mix amp heres an honest assessment. Let me preface this by saying I've used this on a PS5.
    The headset is light, comfortable, the sound is amazing (if set up properly) and microphone is clear and responsive. The addition of the mix amp improves the functionality and gives much needed simplified control over the game/ chat volume. When I initially tried just the headset connected to the controller, I was underwhelmed to say the least. There aren't any volume controls on the headset itself. So any adjustment needed to be made though the system settings. Plus the mic did not work. only the controller mic would pick up sound. After picking up the mix amp I found a video on Astrogaming website that explained the set up process. (honestly some literature included with the packaging would save a ton of hassle) The problem was there are system sound settings that have to be made on the PS5 itself to get the most out of the headset. Once I changed those settings it was night and day. Dolby sound, loud footsteps, deep bass, excellent voice..really really really huge difference. Even with out the amp, just plugging the headset directly into the controller sounded different (you still have to change volume through the settings though (inconvenient) but mute on the controller does mute the mic)
    if you want to know what to change: (if you have the mix amp most of these will change on their own) go to sound > mic > input: mic on headset
    audio output: device = headset (mix amp itll say AV something)
    HDMI type (if you have the amp) AV device
    Number of channels (with amp) 5.1 ch
    Output to Headphones (with amp) CHAT ONLY *super important without Amp all audio.

    As a whole these are great headphones. I would recommend but for a few inconvenient choices I would have given a five, but lack of set up information and inability to change volume on the headset brings it to a 4.

    Bar none it stands the test of time, you can drop it and it still works. I had a couple logitechs and if you dropped them too much it would be broke in no time and then make weird noises.

    This A40 headphone does none of that and just works time and time again. MIX AMP recommended if you want surround sound and just better audio in general.

    Absolute disgrace that a product is of this quality is listed for 130$. I haven't even owned them for 12 hours and they're already broken! The right ear piece is constantly disconnecting, I try to plug and unplug the cable to get it to work but it just keeps randomly disconnecting. The headphones themselves are great, very comfy and good sound quality but when the right ear piece doesn't work none of that matters. STAY AWAY unless you want to risk getting a faulty product.

    I purchased these Astro A40 TR to replace my original A40’s that i bought 10 years ago, A40’s are great for gaming, movies and pretty good for music. If you’re considering buying A40’s - do it! They are well worth the money, and if you also consider picking up the TR mod kit, these headphones will last a long time

    I use Astro headsets for gaming. Imho they are the best headsets for this purpose. Well built, comfortable, excellent sound. Only downside is their microphone.
