Product Description
The SoundTouch 300 soundbar delivers clear, spacious sound. Every cubic inch of this speaker is packed with technologies that bring your music and movies to life. It starts inside with custom shaped speakers that keep the profile low and pump out big sound. Quiet Port technology virtually eliminates distortion so you hear surprisingly deep bass. ADAPTiQ audio room calibration ensures the soundbar sounds the best it can in the space you put it, while PhaseGuide technology makes you believe you're hearing sounds where there are no speakers. On the outside, the glass top and perforated wrap around metal grille make the soundbar look as good in your room as it sounds.
Bluetooth and Wi Fi technology are built in, so you can wirelessly stream music any way you prefer, while NFC provides quick and easy pairing. The SoundTouch app gives you simple control over your favorites. And the SoundTouch 300 soundbar works together with other SoundTouch speakers, like a family. You can start with the SoundTouch 300 and add other SoundTouch speakers when you are ready. And while the SoundTouch 300 soundbar sounds great by itself, you can add the Acoustimass 300 wireless bass module and/or Virtually Invisible 300 wireless surround speakers at anytime to get even more performance and a full 5.1 experience. Place the soundbar on a table below your TV, or save even more space by using the optional wall bracket. It's all run by a universal remote, so you can control your other devices, too.
Enjoy hands free voice access to your music on SoundTouch speakers using any Alexa enabled device—like the Amazon Echo Dot. Just open the Alexa app. Search for “Bose” under the Skills menu. Then follow the simple one time setup.
Common commands:
Alexa, play Niall Horan in the Living Room.
Alexa, turn up the volume in the Kitchen.
Alexa, pause the Office.
Alexa, next track in the Bedroom.

This soundbar is a true bargain at nearly $400 (as of this review). Upon looking at the negative reviews, I've noticed ample technical issues concerning the quality of the cords, compatibility, and/or lack of easy installation instructions. I currently have this soundbar connected to a 2019 Samsung QLED TV (65'') via HDMI ARC, and have thus far experienced none of the aforementioned problems that others have experienced. I'd highly recommend using the HDMI ARC input if your TV is compatible. Then, make sure you run through the AdaptIQ process upon after making the power cord and TV connections, it will make a significant difference in the sound signature. When connecting it to the Soundtouch application (on your phone), be sure to apply any updates first (follow the on-screen instructions), and always turn your device's WiFi on if you want to sync music to the ST300 - this is evidently a common mistake among many owners, as the app will not detect the soundbar otherwise.
As far as overall quality is concerned, the ST300 both performs remarkably well and looks great for the price. There is clear audio, plenty of volume output, and ample sound settings (bass adjustment and dialogue mode preferences are most welcome features since I have family that prefers various listening settings). If you have a small to medium-sized room with 4 obvious corners for the sound to bounce off from, this is the soundbar for you. If not, the additional bass module and/or surround sound speakers offered by Bose may become of gradual interest to you over time.
My only minor complaint with the ST300 is the fact that it uses a limited Alexa platform - you can designate pre-sets in the Soundtouch app and use voice commands to summon a given pre-set (e.g. pre-set 1,2,3, etc.); ask it (Bose) to pause, stop, resume, turn off/on and skip music; however, you cannot ask Alexa to play a song on the soundbar with your voice alone. When you look at the ridiculous price difference between the ST300 ($399.99) and the fully functional 700 series ($799.99), I'd argue this limitation is justified. Treat yourself, it is absolutely worth the money if you are in the market for a great and semi-affordable soundbar.
UPDATE: 1/23/2020
Using the Bose skill (not the Soundtouch skill) in Alexa's skill store will enable you to vocally specify which songs you would like to hear, although this feature is NOT available for Spotify Premium owners like myself. It will, however, allow you to do this with Amazon Prime music. A strange observation, but absolutely not a deal-breaker. I'm also happy to report that the Soundbar continues to work optimally after roughly two months of relatively moderate usage.
- Powerful- this thing gets very loud in my opinion, I have been keeping it at 50-75% and thats more than loud enough for movies and music filling a good size room. I was surprised at this considering it's not your typical AVR amp that was like a space heater in the TV cabinet. Somehow they get plenty of power out to the unit.
- Clear dialogue, easy to understand, a big improvement from the TV speakers. They do have bass ports on the back of the sound bar, and I felt the sound was very good for movies before I even connected the sub. I'll get to that later.
- Surround effect is ok, you can hear sounds bouncing off the walls as they say, but it's not a true 5.1 or 7.1 system obviously. I didn't buy this for the simulated surround, it sounds good enough to me but there aren't going to be any speakers behind you, so it's hard to simulate that.
- Subwoofer, or acoustimass 300 is a nice addition, but to be honest I'm more impressed with the sound bar itself than the sub. The sub is strong, but it comes and goes with music and certain scenes in movies etc. It adds to the system nicely, but I just don't see the price being equal to the sound bar. I need more time listening to it to really review this- so I'll update the review at a later time.
- Soundtouch app is fine, but I found I can bluetooth connect to the sound bar and play music from my iPhone without going through the app (though I used the sound touch app to pair the phone with the unit, so I guess I partially used it for this! The unit did update the firmware once I connected to the wifi, so that's a good thing.
- Music is really impressive to me on this system- I have been streaming music for a few days now, and it really is a great sounding system. Power wise, I keep the volume at 50% or less, and it's plenty loud and clear.
- Bose offers the rear speakers as a $299 ad on, but they are running a promo where they can be had cheaper for a moment, but I don't see adding them. I like the simplicity of this system. The sub even connects wirelessly, so theres minimal wires which after my big 7.1 system I had is a relief.
- Build quality is solid as expected- the unit's have good weight to them- the low profile of the sound bar means it can sit in front of the screen and not interfere with viewing which was a concern I had with larger sound bars as I wanted to place it on the stand in front of the tv at the same level.
- I managed to connect it via HDMI ARC, which is the "preferred" way Bose says to connect it- but only newer/some TVs have that option apparently, and the optical audio out to the sound bar was the other option. Both HDMI and optical cables were included, as were power cables.
-Shipping was fast with prime- the products ship in their original boxes, so no amazon box at all.
- Overall I really like it so far- very solid choice for a 3.1 home theatre if you add the sub, and maybe the surround speakers. I can't see going back to the big 7.1 system from the simplicity of this.
I like that the soundtouch remote along with the app provides the ability to adjust audio settings for each component (soundbar, bass module and surround speakers). For instance, when watching the news or TV program, I leave the soundbar center level, surround speakers and bass module at the default level. When its time to watch a movie, I tweak the settings as appropriate -- most often, using the app, turning up the soundbar and surround speakers level between +5 and +10 and using the remote, adjusting the bass setting to +3 or +4. When doing so, dialogue is clear and the sound is immersive and theater like. This system also allows you to pair an additional bass module which can only enhance the overall theater experience.
In summary, if your looking for a home theater system without all of the heavy speakers and bulky receiver and wiring all over the room, I would highly recommend the Bose soundbar, bass module and rear speaker set up. It produces amazing sound for such a small footprint!

It may take a little time to initially adjust to how the sound is emitted from the soundbar, as it seems to project the sound much more horizontally instead of vertically. The treble level is also a little high for my tastes even after completing the adaptiq audio calibration.
The SoundTouch app is very basic but works well enough, but the newer Bose Music app only works with the newer 500 or 700 soundbars. It is frustrating that the SoundTouch app only allows the center channel level to be adjusted, but the Bose Music app, in addition, provides treble and bass level adjustments.
DTS support is very much appreciated and helps with movie/tv rips that use DTS, or default to DTS as it does offer a nice improvement over Dolby Digital.
Please note that the SoundTouch 300 is essentially identical to the Soundbar 700 except for the lack of integrated digital assistants (Google or Alexa), HDMI eARC, and the lack of Bose Music App support; for some reason, on the new Soundbar 700, Bose decided to remove the HDMI input.
At $499 the SoundTouch 300 is a solid buy and is the best bang for your buck out of the soundbars that Bose offers.
