About this item

  • The Neato D9 has 200 minutes of runtime and can cover up to 1,600 square feet on a single charge, but if your robot needs more time, it it can also auto-recharge and resume to finish the job. Neato works smarter so your floors get cleaned faster.
  • Neato's D-shape design reaches dirt where round robots can't—in corners and along walls with its LaserSmart LIDAR technology, the same technology used in self-driving vehicles, to map and navigate your home with precision, leaving your carpets with those satisfying straight vacuum lines.
  • Customize your floor plan with Zones that define areas to clean more frequently—or No-Go Zones to identify areas to avoid (like a child's play area or pet food bowls)
  • Clean with a Helix Multi-Surface Brush that’s up to 70% bigger than those round robots and 50% quieter on hard surfaces. It’s effective on any surface—hardwood, carpet or tile—so it’s great for any home. Neato’s industry-leading dirt bin, at 0.7 liters, means less frequent emptying.
  • Go beyond Eco and use Turbo mode for a deeper clean—Neato D9 offers 40% greater dirt pickup than D3 & D5 (tested in internal labs).

Product Description

Neato D9's 200 minute runtime, covering 1,600 square feet on a single charge, makes it ideal for medium to larger-sized homes. You can't use circles to clean a square corner. That's why Neato's D-shape allows for a 70% larger brush than those found in round robots along with an industry-leading 0.70 liter dirt bin that holds more dirt between cleanings. Neato's D9 offers corner-to-corner and edge-to-edge cleaning in a short amount of time and its unique Helix multi-surface brush is now 50% quieter on hard surfaces. Neato's D9 also offers 40% greater dirt pickup than D3 & D5. The powerful performance combined with an easy-to-clean Ultra-Performance filter traps up to 99.5% of allergens and dust. Equipped with energy-saving Eco Mode for general vacuuming to high-performance Turbo Mode, Neato gets the job done. The Neato D9 uses LaserSmart powered by LIDAR, the same technology used in self-driving vehicles, to map and navigate your home with precision, leaving your carpets with those satisfying straight vacuum lines in no time. Because it uses lasers, not cameras, to navigate your home it works just as well in low light conditions like under furniture and never records images of you and your belongings. It also doesn't have microphones on board and features state-of-the-art encryption both on the robot and in the cloud. With regular software updates sent automatically, you can feel confident you're getting the latest features as soon as they're released. Get cleaning in minutes with Neato’s hassle-free setup using the MyNeato app. Create Zones to target trouble spots more often—like crumbs under the dining table. Create No-Go Zones to avoid spaces such as a pet dish or child’s play area. Clean where you want, when you want—on demand or scheduled in advance. Available in a premium, brushed black finish that fits in with any décor. Let Neato D9 take care of the dirty work. You've got better things to do. The Ultimate Cleaning Machine.

UPDATE: Neato is closing shop, won't support existing models
    1 Star
UPDATE: Neato is closing shop, won't support existing models
UPDATE: Well it looks like my robot is dead and Neato's phone numbers are cancelled, tech support won't return emails, and now I've got a 4 month old $500 paperweight. I wonder if they killed it remotely. It was working until about 2 weeks ago and just won'd do anything now. A quick google shows they closed shop May 1 2023 and apparently nothing works anymore. We had a Neato Connected for years, basically bought it as soon as it came out. It was the first one with room mapping and actually felt like a smart vacuum, finally. It replaced an older neato that didn't do any mapping (although that one still runs fine). Well, the connected bit the dust (won't charge, won't run, won't do anything). I was looking at my repair options, saw this D9 on sale and thought it was time for an upgrade.Except it's a downgrade. The newer mapping is worse. The old mapping gave you a nice square grid with dots, you could draw no-go lines wherever you wanted to account for weirdly shaped objects to avoid. The newer mapping, you can tell it's trying to be more accurate and detailed, the map it creates is more free form- except it's not accurate. When it goes through a doorway into another space that second room gets rotated just a bit. And then the next room gets rotated a bit more, and after mapping our our first floor we have a weird curved abstract map of our house that's not accurate. I've tried it twice with the same results. Then, the no go lines have been replaced by no go squares. You can only create a square, not a line, and the square is locked in one orientation. so when your room/couches/etc have all been rotated by the poor mapping, now your no-go squares don't line up with the items on the map.Which results in worthless cleaning by zones. Today we had a scheduled clean of the living room, robot woke up, cleaned the living room, and then was clearly lost trying to get back to the base. It wandered all over the first floor of our house, repeatedly running into closed doors, and finally, I thought, found its way back to the family room where the base is. Except I got an alert on my phone that it was lost and couldn't find the base. I attached a pic, the robot was 6 feet from the base and pointing right at it.This series is a major step back from the prior one in terms of mapping. Very disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too many problems, unhelpful customer support
Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2022
This was my fourth Neato vacuum, so I generally know what to expect in terms of issues. I pick up all the chairs and dangling cables before running them. This one had all-new issues:

    1. Vacuum and app wouldn't connect to one another. This was due to a firmware issue with the vacuum connecting to Android 13. I had to do a firmware upgrade with computer and USB to get it to work. At the end of this it worked, though the vacuum again said it was updating its firmware, and a half hour later said the firmware update failed. I'm guessing it didn't understand it had just been updated, and failed because it downloaded the same version of firmware, but I don't know for certain. In any case this was rough around the edges and perhaps not for novice computer users.

    2. Vacuum stopped, no notifications, just stopped. Not asking for help, just...stopped. This happened the first 2 of 3 runs I did with it. Customer service claimed it could be that if you start it from the app, it depends on its base for navigation, and if you start it by pressing the button, it doesn't. So losing track of its base totally hoses it up. That's either a defective product or a serious design problem.

    3. It got stuck where it just kept ramming into a wall. I kept pushing it back from the wall after it did this for a couple minutes, and it persevered forward. I had to stop it, move it backward a couple feet, and turn it around to resolve this.

Customer service wanted me to move the vacuum, but there were several feet clear around it and all previous Neatos have done fine with this arrangement, even when I had furniture closer to it. They were unwilling to do a replacement or repair either, so I returned it to Amazon the same week I got it, and ordered another brand. Finally ran out of patience with this brand.
