Upon receiving the iPhone 7, I was fine with staying with the stock headphones that came with the phone with the lightning connector. Except that they're awful. Unlike the pair I still have from my iPhone 6 (that came with the phone), I've gone through 4 pairs of headphones for the 7. They're incredibly cheap and very fragile. I decided to go with Bluetooth headphones after much debate, and bought a few pairs before finally giving up and spending the money on these. I bought them used, which is normally the kiss of death when it comes to electronics, but it was what I could afford, so I took my chances. It came with a few months of AppleCare and factory sealed ear pieces, original case, etc., so I went with them. They arrived promptly and well packaged. I charged them and used them on my commute to school the next day, which is around an hour, give or take how nice the trains want to be that day. My last pair (Skullcandy) had a decent battery life, but the connectivity was AWFUL. Literally every time I turned my head or put my phone in my pocket, I was greeted with horrendous static and choppy music or podcasts. The pair before that (JLab) had the most laughable battery I've ever encountered with Bluetooth headphones. I'd get about 2 hours out of those before they simply died.
Shockingly, these have been wonderful. I can clean around my whole apartment with my phone in the living room and I hear everything perfectly. I don't feel that these, unlike my wired Beats, have bass that is odd or too overpowering on audio that doesn't require or have excessive bass. The battery is great too, and they do last me my commute to and from school, as well as several hours walking around town or cleaning the apartment, which is great - I listen to a lot of music and podcasts while doing things around the city, and battery life is very important to me. The fit is a little bizarre - I'm really not crazy about the plastic piece that goes around the ear, but I've learned to accept it. For the battery life and connectivity, it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make. The earpiece that goes in the ear fits well, so while I do need to shift the headphones around every so often, they at least don't completely fall out of my ear. Again, for me, that's an acceptable issue. Perhaps in the future, they could make the outside plastic piece out of a more forgiving and flexible material - if I could bend it to actually fit around me ear, they'd be great.
All in all, I really like them - something I've never said when I owned my original Beats. I hope they last a long time, or at least long enough to have for the duration that I have my iPhone 7.
Anyways, I got mine and have tested them out.
Charge took 15 minutes and then I was up and running.
To pair them to my iPhone 7 couldn't have been easier. Hold the powerbutton next to your phone and boom, it asks you to connect and it did.
After that I would turn them off, and play music on my phone and then turn them on, and the music went to the headphones automatically. Perfect.
As for the W1 chip and the battery, I left them on all night playing music from my phone (phone was plugged in). I woke up with music still going strong, this was 7.5 hrs.
As for the sound, the bass is great. not to loud, but you can feel it.
And for other music without bass, I'm a big fan of musicals, it was all crystal clear. These are better than the air pods from Apple and actually better the my Skull Candy over ear headphones that I use for running.
The fit was good, but had to swap out the ear buds for a smaller size to fit my ear.
These are exercise headphones, NOT noise cancelling. And because of that you can hear some outside noise, this is for the safety of athletes (runners, like me who run in the city). If you want noise cancelling headphones, DO NOT get these. But they are solid, the ambient noise is minimal and does not affect the quality of these headphones.
The only thing I do not like is the case, but that should not make it lose a star as that is not the headphones.
These are great for running and last a long time and fit really good with great sound quality.

That said, I found that choosing the right size tips makes a huge difference to the audio quality. It's definitely worth playing around with the fit.
We do both have apple products so we’re not positive if pairing is different with a different phone than an iPhone.
