I have been using Wyze products from the beginning and this has to be one of their best. Picture quality is great and setup is quick and easy. Have one indoors and one outdoors. Night vision is great on both. Don't know that I like the zoom to motion feature, but it is easy to switch off. I would highly recommend it as an indoor or outdoor camera.

You CAN watch past footage without any subscription - as long as you’ve inserted an SD card.

I’m not sure why so many reviewers here are complaining about not being able to see their footage without a subscription. I can view my vids just fine. You just need to click on “SD card” and you can see your events that were recorded onto your SD card. Don’t scroll on the timeline on the main window otherwise you’ll just see your thumbnails and prompts to upgrade.

Aside from this UI annoyance (well - it’s an annoyance if you don’t know that you have to click on “SD card” to see your SD card footage…) everything else is good. I used to own several of their v3 cams and I like the addition of the spotlight and faster response times in this version.
The increased resolution didn’t seem like much of an upgrade to me. 2K looks much the same as HD on my screen…

I’d still say the cam is very good value for money though.

The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because of the company’s security incidents affecting previous models. I really hope we won’t see any more terrible responses to security incidents in the future…

OVERALL…
Hardware: Very good. Fast response and feels sturdy.
Software: Very good (but may not be intuitive enough for certain people…)
Security: Yet to be seen with this model. And unsure as to whether the company on the whole is improving in this area.
Aesthetics: A Borat “very nice”.
Value for money: Very good.

Night Performance good, barely useable without Subscription.

I've had every version of Wyze camera monitoring my home and rural cabin property. unfortunately in area wirh unstable power, where my DSL service is often interrupted, the cameras fail to re-acquire new IP address and remain offline until manually power cycled. issue with DHCP when router power lost but camera power from battery is ok, present in ALL 25+ Wyze cameras I own. Everything else on my network supports static IP and functions perfectly after internet or power outages and I am sure these cameras would also be more stable if I could set static IP. Tech Support saus to power cycle camera and router to fix the offline - so Im supposed to drive 740 miles to the cabin, flip the power off and back on, and return home because their SW fails to follow the DHCP standard. I have done embedded software implementing the protocol and can see what they are doing with wireshark, they cant handle cases where their device retains power or comes online faster than the internet so they just go offline until next manual reset.

Have also had hacker neighbor WiFi jam to shut down cameras at previous home.

unfortunately the camera & software appear to require cloud subscription to be useful, and while the latest camera Hardware is very sensitive and high resolution any feature I try to use tries to get me to enable by buying subscription and i get lost in the online store while trying to check video.

To look at camera from Windows with the previous camera I bought I had to load an android emulator and support software and run mobile app in a emulation window which crashed frequently. Nothing in documentation for this latest camera offers anything better.

The video is in a non-standatd protocol so not compatible with RTSP or any other standard I could use with the DVR I have for my wired IP Cameras, while a previous Wyze camera had a RTSP firmware option that was removed and no RTSP is available for any cameras now.

After several security incidents on the cloud side, which took days to weks to receive email informing me, plus lack of rtsp and features requiring cloud that cant be reached frequently, I am going to transition back to POE IP cameras that use a non cloud DVR and will work when the internet is down but my network is operational.

If you live in area with cell coverage and fast reliable iternet and can afford $10/mo or more per month for a camera to get features I can host on my DvR for free and access without cloud access, then you will like this camera

I have had a wyze cam v3 for 3 years now and love it. I got the v4 to replace the v3 I have on the front of the house so I could put the v3 in the back yard. The v4 is a big picture quality differents for the v3 but I notesed that the feild of view is a little smaller than the v3 it is not a big deal but I figured I would mention it. All and all I love the build in light and the better image quality from the 2k sensor makes up the the smaller feild of view but so if you are looking to upgrade for a v3 or older or just looking to get your first security camra I would buy it again

So for about a week I was debating what system to get. Dufy, blink, ring, etc... the lower prices of this cameras is what attracted me (besides ring). Eventually I got to the point where it was Blink or Wyze. I like the look and style of Wyze but was hesitant as I'm a smart home lover and "Alexa" would have been mad. I said screw it and spent $40 on this camera. Let me tell you it's incredible. It has all the cheap gimics I've had in cheap cameras (light, 2-way, siren) but here they aren't gimmicks because they're developed and capable. I am incredibly impressed. I would say it was perfect but there is the subscription issue...
If you not a mindless camera starring drone these will completely satisfy you. If you get stuck staring at the feed though, without a subscription you will be disappointed.

I still give it 4.8/5

I am replacing all of my Wyze V3 cameras with V4 cameras because of the significantly increased resolution and color accuracy. The V4 has 3.6Megapixels, versus 2Megapixels for the V3. The difference is clear. I cropped a small portion of the image from each camera and it's easy to see the improvement with the V4. For $50 CDN, I think it's a good deal.
