    I researched A LOT before buying this, cause I am very particular about the quality of what I watch. I've always had Samsung but TCL kept coming up on every research and an amazing budget TV. So far I would say it's amazing. It's a Google TV, so connects to your Google Home if you have it. You can connect your Bluetooth headphones to it - I am amazed by this. The remote is this and cute and you can also use your Google home app as a remote. Good amount of HDMI plugs too.

    The TV is excellent as far as picture quality goes. The dark colors and contrast look amazing. My problem is the software. The TV is super buggy and slow. It feels like you're on a computer with dial up internet. It is so slow to respond to any remote commands. You must hit a button then wait a few seconds. It also has unreliable internet connection both on wifi and on LAN. It will drop the connection and force you to set it up again multiple times. I occasionally have to restart the television to get it to work because of buggy software updates and lagging. The quality of picture is great but you definitely pay for what you get in the software.

    I bought this TV for a spare room, not expecting anything of quality. Seriously, when you buy a 55" TV for $350, you have to come in with low expectations.

    Truly a zero star review. Dead annoying bright green pixel after 2 months. This is the first and last TCL. They are CHEAP for a reason. We have owned LG, Samsung even a GE and never had a single pixel go out. Horrible service. Worse quality.

    This TV is cheap features a really bright screen (the room we have it in is bright with a lot of natural light). Google tv is nice, gaming response time is one of the best features TCL works hard to make their tvs good for console gaming. Remote control looks like it should cost the same as the tv lol...

    CONS: the software is SOO SLOW (so just get a roku adapter for $40 bucks or less that makes it much faster and you get apple airplay). also in the bottom corner there's light that kinda shines through but that doesn't seem like a big deal --you don't see it when the tv is on.

    So a bit of a tech nerd here, I have an LG OLED and a Samsung QLED for reference. I wanted a nicer newer tv for the basement for my kids and their PS5, Plex, Netflix etc. This tv fit the bill for price while still offering dolby vision, which many budget tv's don't support.

    Hooked it up to a vizio soundbar and it's a nice setup. The picture is pretty good for a non-OLED and most users will be happy.

    Here's my issue. It's slowwww. I also have an nvidia shield pro, so I'm used to the google tv format, but loading every app and navigation is painful. I have a wifi6e mesh system, but that's not even an issue because I have this hardwired through a gig network. There's no excuse for the sluggishness. My kids don't seem to mind, but it's annoying that a cheap roku stick on my older vizio via wifi is light speed compared to this tv. Also plex doesn't seem to work despite a bunch of troubleshooting.

    I'm holding out hope that some more software/firmware updates will remedy this, but I can't give this tv more than 3 stars and I'd caution most users who are used to quick smart tv response.

    Will update later if it improves.
