I have owned this for a few years now. I have used it on the grill and in the oven. I love that I can see the exact temperature without opening the grill or oven. It has alerts you can set to let you know of timers or temperature of the meat. I have even gave this as a gift. Most people are not sure if they will like it until they use it. I always get comments later how great the gift was.I would suggest to remove the battery when not in use. This will help you batteries last longer. Plus I keep at least one spare so I'm not let down on cooking day.

Product was received exactly as described. There was some concern with the length of the cable as that was not listed in the description or even the questions. After some digging, I did finally find that the length of the cable was 4 feet which was perfect. Long enough to get the base unit away from the heat as to not damage it during use. The magnetic base provides added convenience as you can mount it to any magnetic surface around the grill/oven and the magnet in the base is plenty strong to keep it secure. The associated app that is required to run this system is intuitive and easy to operate either using the preset standard settings provided in the app based on the meat that is being cooked, or you can set and save your own temperature setting. Notifications are automatically sent to your connected smart device to let you know what is happening with your food temperature and how close it is to reaching the preselected temperature. I had seen many reviews that people were not pleased that the range stated in the 150 ft. range for the Bluetooth connectivity. We did not have a problem with the range and were able to get the reading from pretty much anywhere in the house. Temperature seemed to be accurate with a couple of degrees F when compared to a separate oven thermometer when using the probe to measure oven temperature. Overall very pleased with this product and it appears to be a durable quality product and functional app.

I used a friend's version of this prior to getting my own. I was put in charge of grilling the meat for his birthday. I was handed 3 - 2+" Filet mignon, an 18" long salmon filet, and this dudad. I had never done this cut of beef at this size, followed by salmon, let alone using someone elses grill, or used this new device. A quick review of cooking beef of this size online, and knowing the beef would take longer, I started with them after the heat in the grill was correct. I set up the cook temp and time based on the easy doneness selections provided in the free downloadable app on my phone. Once the beef was done I quickly did the salmon while the beef rested. Very easy to use app and everyone stated the meats were perfect. This thing is a homerun for me and can't wait to use it again.
A few lessons learned:
Some quick Google-fu of seeing what suggested times, temperature, and direct/indirect heat source helped my confidence with this and any cook.
Ensuring the probe is put in an average thickness of meet during cook was crucial to attain desired doneness selected.
Insert probe horizontally and so it doesn't hit the grill grate below the meat (especially on thinner cuts) so as not to throw off the temp reading (false temp leads to a shorter and improper cook).

This is my second one. The first probe began after 10 cooks to be inaccurate. Example, meat temp to start was 54 initially. iGrill Mini showed 121. I had washed the probe in the past with soap and water but did not soak it. Also it takes awhile to connect, about 3-4 failures but in 5 minutes then connects.

What do I like? This is my second meat thermometer on an overnight cook. Once connected to my wifi, I can go to bed. Waking occasionally I can see the temp continuing to climb whether graph or just temp. I then take a screen shot and go back to sleep. Do not have to go outside in the cold.I maintained bluetooth connection the whole time from my patio, but it is not very fr. I think it is easy to get going once connected. Since I am using the iGrill Mini for meat, I do NOT want to answer yes to the question about if this probe is measuring the ambient temperature. the Mini is a one probe subset of the iGrill which I think has 4 probes, so that is apparently why the app asks about if you want to measure the ambient temperature, as it is a different probe from the meat one.Oh, the app is easy to install (iPHone user) and set up. .

I downloaded the app on both my iPhone and IPad. I do prefer the bigger screen on the ipad and just lest it in my coffee table which is about 15 feet from the grill on my back patio.

My wife is picky about her steak, medium well... :/ yeah, I know....

Normally I cook them medium or medium rare... cooking medium well has always been an issue, I either over cook them or there is just a tad red (more medium) and I have to put it back on... with this sensor, it came out perfect.

Pro tip.... pull it off the second it hits the correct temp, remember it will still cook out while resting.

I giving it 5 stars... however, if I had known it works this well I would have bought the igrill 3 that has 4 probes. The only problem with one probe is that you can’t see ambient temperature. The big brother to this unit will let you do three different items, plus use one for ambient temp so you can see what in the world is going on the entire time.

For those that are cooking single steaks, this is a winner!

I absolutely love this meat probe and honestly have no idea how I cooked steak before I owned one.

Setup was easy and intuitive. Just download the weber app, turn on the probe and the app will detect the probe.

To use it you put the probe in the meat. On the app you choose the cut of meat and how you want the meat cooked and your phone will notify you when it is done.

I love medium steaks and would always end up over cooking them because I was afraid of consuming raw meat. This probe takes all the guesswork out of cooking and your meat comes off the grill exactly like you want it.

Update: The igrill mini stopped working after 1 year. At first the range was significantly reduced to about 10-15 feet. I replaced the battery hoping this was the cause, but had no luck. Ok, not a big deal i just put my phone closer, however more recently the probe started reading 500+ degrees. Reposition the probe and get the same thing 500+ degrees. The probe is now useless and thrown in the trash.
