Outriders a near-future Action Adventure title where looking for a new home planet goes very wrong (I'm not going to spoil the story).
Beautiful surroundings, but danger all around, gives plenty hours of gameplay (At least 40-50 hours to complete, more if you love exploring, like me).
The story is rather generic--a group of survivors looking for home on a new world after Earth becomes uninhabitable--and the characters are pretty cookie cutter. One surprise was how many characters are introduced only to be killed off mere minutes later. You start to forget their names. Sniper girl. Cowboy hat guy. They just get killed off so quickly, they don't really have any time to shine.
The gunplay could be tighter. In fact, before I even began blasting away, I had to go into the settings and change some things about how the character looks around and how fast the reticle moves while aiming. Though this game steals a lot from the Division 2, the gunplay never feels as tight. The powers work well, but the guns are only so-so.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed big battles with many foes. The boss battles left a ton to be desired. Most of them are bullet-sponges and have area attacks that serve as nuisances, which wouldn't be as bad if they were even remotely avoidable at times. Also, playing as a class that relies upon close combat, I find it annoying that every powerful enemy has an attack that seems to do a ton of damage and hit you if you get too close.
The world itself might be the biggest letdown. It's a series of interconnected maps, which are pretty much dead, unless you have an an active mission.
The superpowers are great and I wish that you were given more points to improve builds. However, it steals a lot from the Division 2, which does pretty much everything better than Outriders.
