Damaged our Silk Carpets, iRobot has NEVER contacted me after openeing a support ticket on July 11th
I've always wanted a robot vacuum but didn't have the space for one until recently. We purchased a new 1800 SF home in June of this year. Our home has LVP flooring in most of the areas, with the bedrooms having carpet. In our "Dining Room" and "Living Room," we have large silk rugs that define the associated spaces. Flooring and lighting are different in every home. Our new home seemed to have conditions that made an insignificant amount of debris highly noticeable. Basically, we feel like our home needs to be thoroughly vacuumed every day. Perfect for a vacuuming robot, right? When I saw an Amazon Treasure Truck deal for a genuine Roomba, I jumped at the chance to own the original, the best, or so I thought. I read the directions when I received the unit as I always ready product directions, regardless of the simplicity or complexity of the product (thanks, Dad!). I charged the unit for 24 hours and "let'er" loose! I was amazed at how quickly the debris reservoir filled with dirt, debris, and carpet fibers. My wife and I are borderline OCD when it comes to cleaning, so our home had been vacuumed multiple times before starting the Roomba. After several days of "manually" starting Roomba using the app, I decided to create a schedule. I decided 2 am every morning, it would run. The first morning when we awoke, we found strange items lying randomly on floor surfaces around our house. Upon close inspection, I realized they were balls of carpet fibers, silk fibers to be exact. I checked the Roomba reservoir and found it was overflowing with dirt, debris, and, of course, carpet fibers. I thought to myself, "Wow, I guess moving the silk rugs from NJ to SC really caused them to shed." Well, after 3 or 4 days of this cycle, I knew something was wrong. My wife and I walked around the house closely inspecting the floors, carpeting, and rugs and found the corner of our dining room silk rug had been damaged. I immediately discontinued the set "routine" and contacted iRobot Customer Support. This was July 11th, and I requested a call as I really didn't feel like typing the amount of information and disappointment that needed to be conveyed. I truly hoped iRobot support could help us resolve the major issues we were encountering. Unfortunately, they've never responded. Today is July 29th, and I have yet to receive a phone call, an email, a text, or even smoke signals. I returned the Roomba to Amazon about a week after I opened the ticket. I really had hoped, and still, hope support contacts me. I am stunned and bewildered that a company of iRobot's size, stature, and reputation failed to contact me. I still want and need a vacuuming robot, but this particular unit was definitely not the one.
