probes

High Performance Thermomenters

Barbecue to a new level with accurate temperature monitoring

The CyberQ Cloud is equipped with a robust digital thermometer probe that is not only simple to use, but is engineered to the highest precision standards. The probe gets placed on your grill's grate using an alligator clip extension and accurately measures your grill’s internal cooking temperature. It sends this reading back to the main control unit and the CyberQ Cloud then evaluates all temperature changes and adjusts the heat as needed. The probe is rated for temperatures up to 500°F and the sturdy sheathed wires are used to protect against breakage, heat, or errors while cooking.

I’m a newbie on the Green Egg and this is exactly the tool that I need. A little confusing to get set up, but I’m not sure what could be done to make it better unless someone came and set it up for me. Has worked extremely well. After about 3 months, the clip on my cook temperature monitor broke off and I do wish it came with an extra. Would definitely recommend.

Works very well but we’ve had to replace ours after 2 years. Not even two years later, the second one also doesn’t work anymore. Each time the control box broke and it’s expensive to replace. For the price, I’d expect it to last longer, esp as it’s used maybe on average 2-3 times a month.

Bought to use for Thanksgiving turkey on BGE. Issues getting pin to take. Used the hot spot option. Setup inside then moved outside after putting turkey on the egg. Unit will not power up! Took back inside and again no power. Sent email to Custer Service for return replacement. Will leave 1 star until I get a replacement and see if it works. Right now disappointed.

This is my initial review for the CyberQ after one slow cook. I gave it 4 stars since the internet connection was lost after 4 hours (of a 12 hr smoke) and I was never able to get the connection re-connected. After the cook, I had to reset the CyberQ and go through the connection process again. I will attempt a second cook and see if the CyberQ can maintain its connection. If that works, then perhaps a full 5 stars will be warranted.

I do long cooks on my Big Green Egg (BGE) and wanted to better control the temperature since I sometimes ran out of fuel during these long smokes. I have been evaluating various termperature controllers for some time and decided to take the rather expensive plunge. The CyberQ did not have any reviews but the other models from BBQ Guru appeared to suggest they have experience in this area.

Attaching the CyberQ fan to the BGE is very easy. The instructions suggest you don't need to remove either the screen or solid door on the intake, but I went ahead and removed both, installed the CyberQ fan adaptor and then replaced the solid door and snugged it up against the fan adaptor.

The controller was also easy to attach and if you don't want the internet connection just yet, you can easily set the smoker temperature and food temperature and start cooking right away. The internet connection was a bit involved as you need a smart phone or tablet which you can direct to the "hotspot" created by the CyberQ during setup and there are several steps you take to connect, register, and configure the CyberQ.

Once this was connected, I took the CyberQ to my BGE and started a beef brisket slow cook. During the initial stages of cooking, I was impressed with the ability to monitor the cook from my Apple 6S phone. Both the BGE temp and the brisket temp were constantly reported and there is even a line graph over time showing how these temps are behaving over time. All was great and I left my home to run some errands checking on the temp while I was away. All was great!

Then, after 4 hours, the connection was lost and after I returned, I could not get the connection to reestablish. However, the CyberQ continued to operate as designed and maintained the BGE temperature. It does this by "pulsing" the fan motor attached to the intake so that it can measure the temperature and keep the overall cook within 5 degrees or so of the set cook temperature. I was able to complete the cook successfully and never had to make any adjustments to the BGE cooking temp. However, was not able to monitor remotely anymore with the lost connection.

A couple of missing features on the CyberQ could make it even better in my mind. One would be the ability to see the signal strength on the CyberQ controller itself. On the website ("sharemycook.com" hosted by BBQ Guru where you establish an online account and register your CyberQ) I was able to see that my connection was shown as "good" which meant to me that I had an adequate connection.

Another would a simple feature that resets/reconnects the internet if lost.

Finally, an on/off switch instead of having to plug and unplug the CyberQ.

Hope to be back soon to update my experience.

Good product let down by very poor software. The product functions as designed and, with the exception of one open lid incident where it overshot, kept my Big Joe within 5 degrees of the set point on the first cook. What lets it down is the software. The sharemycook site has a really poor interface that's not intuitive to use, has poor graphing, and doesn't adapt well to use on a mobile device. Why are the set points on one page and all the cook data on another? Why isn't the fan speed charted? This product also really needs a well written native mobile application. The setup process is OK, again it could be improved, I've worked in IT for 20 years and it wasn't particularly intuitive and again, some work on the interface would make a world of difference. On the plus side, it's great not to have to worry about bluetooth range and be able to look at the cook anywhere.

The main unit seems pretty solid. I did have an issue where it lost settings after being unplugged but I'm hoping that was a one-off. The fan is really well constructed and the adapter into my big joe works really well. A bit fiddly to get in, but once there is staying put and is airtight. The fan is audible, particularly when pulsing and if this bothers you it may be better to look at a variable speed controller instead.

In short, it does the job, so three stars, but could be 5 with better software.

Lastly, this is great for overnight cooks, but I felt a bit disconnected with nothing to tweak on the BBQ. Not sure how I'm going to justify sitting there with my beer now! :)

So after many reviews of many bbq controllers I picked this one due to the construction, the excellent reviews and the long time the company has been in business. I installed this on my big joe kamado grill. Installation was easy. This thing is amazing my first q was pork shoulder I set the temp at 230 and it kept the temp within 2 degrees all day long. It would send my phone updates with a graph of the cook in progress LULZ it was awesome. Next I cooked a whole turkey. Set the temp at 325 and it held that temp perfectly. My first time cooking a turkey in the grill and everyone said it was the best turkey they had ever eaten. Next baby backs. Set the temp at 210 it held 210 till the ribs were done. I love this thing. Get one, its a blast ( it just tickles me pink that this thing was sending me messages about my cook while I was at the swap meet lol) and makes for perfect Q.

As I have read, the software has much to be desired. It would be much better if they had a proper app to go along with the unit. HELLO. The unit seems to do well at raising the temperature however not so well at lowering. That remains a manual adjustment. I feel I can control my grill fine enough without the added expenditure of this product. I did have a higher hope after reading many favorable reviews.
