Awesome game, runs great on pc. The game has a pretty solid story and is genuinely interesting to me. The combat seems easy until you start encountering higher tier enemies on different floors. As for performance I'm getting 120 fps on 1440p 90% of the time. During some combat and really intense scenes I dip to about 95 to 100 fps with V-sync on and on very high settings. I am extremely impressed with the optimization of this game right out of the gate. Unlike some others that have come out recently. I am running a I-7 6700k with corsair h60 and evga 1080ti founders with 24 gb of ddr4.

Really good game in cool space sci-fi setting. It is hard to find any parts of it where you can really complain, may be inspired by Half-Life I expected to have more weapons but this is compensated by a variety of skills. Although ones you figure out main rules game become relatively simple even on a higher difficulty. There is a specific mod that can fix it but I didn't try it yet. I really liked cafeterias which are used for ending selection, it's one of the rare games where they make total sense in my opinion and also don't require to limit hardly you play style in case if you want to get a good one.

Prey is the best and worst of recent PC games combined. The best in that it takes proven assets and an engine that have been designed and perfected over the last 20 years and presents them in one game. The worst in that any avid gamer of this genre will have that "I've played this game before" feeling as they fight the same enemies in the same environments with the same basic story-line as other previous ground-breaking classics. Prey has virtually nothing new to offer unless you are relatively new to gaming and/or this genre. It is obvious that many assets, even some more than 20 years old now, have been tweaked, reskinned and mishmashed together into an often-times incoherent glob of environments, characters and creatures. Even basic sounds are clearly lifted from games two-decades old. This mess is weakly held together (if you can say that at all) by an utterly confusing and incoherent "task and quest" system that leaves you wondering why the heck any of this is important. Making the game ultimately an insult is its pointless "I'm so woke" dialog between characters. Everyone on the space station is apparently gay and they love to talk all about it. The dialog is so cringy it completely makes a mockery of the "serious" situation you are supposed to be in. The game clearly more of an effort to indoctrinate young gamers into the "woke" way of life rather than to present anything unique and engaging for avid players who don't want social justice force-fed to them while playing. There should be a warning label for "woke content" so these sneaky disasters can be avoided.

This is nothing like Prey that appeared a number of years back. Game mechanics are fun and the story is interesting enough. I love being able to customize my character to fit my style of gameplay. I started out the game on harder than normal difficulty and you really feel it. Game doesn't pull punches and you have to be really strategic in how you approach a situation. Running in guns blazing is a good way to waste your limited ammo and end up dead anyway as it can only take a few hits to drop you without some health upgrades. Take a moment to think a bit and position yourself well or draw the enemy into a poor location for them and you'll have a much better experience with the combat. Learn to anticipate and dodge attacks. Immobilization and shotgun blasts, or explosive canisters and gas lines can really save you.

Just remember "He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee." You can make use of some fantastical abilities in this game, but as you become more 'other', the game will interact with you differently. I think that's fun, but annoying to other reviewers I've seen. It makes your choices have more impact and brings another level of depth to the narrative.

I've not yet finished the game, but it runs beautifully and playing with a Xbox gamepad is very enjoyable. My system is an i7-6700K, 8 gigs of RAM and 23 inch, 1980x1080 screens running off an Nvidia 970 GTX. I'm going to enjoy running through again on other difficulties and going after other builds.
