Excellent Smart Doorbell with minor issues
I have been using the eufy Video Doorbell for a few weeks now, and I find that it is an excellent product overall for the price. There is definitely room for improvement, so I have provided a list of pros and cons below, but for this price, it is a great bargain. If the missing video clip bug and false person alerts are fixed in a firmware update, I can give this video doorbell 5 stars... until then, it gets a respectable 4 stars from me.Pros: - The video quality is good (although, the HDR quality is not great... see cons below). - The doorbell recognizes people extremely quickly and sends me an alert almost instantaneously. - Notifications on my iPhone are accompanied by a photo of the person at the door. - Looks sleek. - Comes with an angle plate. - No subscription cost!! - Inexpensive. - Really, really fast startup time. I quit the eufy app, then re-open it and the video from the doorbell starts streaming in seconds -- like 1 or 2 seconds. Even the app launches very fast.Cons: - Documentation mentions that if the doorbell glows yellow during the setup process, it is receiving sufficient power and I do not need to bypass the existing doorbell chime with the included bypass wires. However, I noticed that after it had been setup and I tried ringing the doorbell, the doorbell feedback chime (the "ding-dong" sound that the video doorbell makes to let you know it is ringing) would cut out immediately after ringing for a fraction of a second. This issue was fixed when I manually bypassed the existing doorbell chime despite the video doorbell receiving power, which tells me that it was receiving power, but not enough. - The doorbell keeps recognizing a tree in front of my house as a person and sends me false alerts multiple times a day as you can see in the the attached screenshots. I had to create a detection zone and exclude the tree in order to prevent the false alerts. - HDR images are not very clear... the HDR video looks fine, but the photos it captures and sends to my phone when it detects a person could be better. - When I answer the doorbell from my phone, the video is sometimes not recorded and saved. The other day I answered the doorbell, and afterwards I went back into my history to try and download the video clip, but it was missing -- no one deleted it... it was just not saved. - The doorbell is easy to detach from the wall if you have a thin metal rod... no special tools required, so I am afraid it will get stolen some day. - It needs multiple detection zones. The single detection zone is very prohibitive. - It needs an "ignore zone" in addition to the detection zone so I can exclude a section where my street is visible. - It needs a way to indicate which video clips were a result of a person appearing in front of the door vs. ringing the doorbell. I just see a list of video clips without any indication of whether the doorbell was rung or not. Also, it needs to indicate whether I answered the doorbell, or if it was a "missed" ring.EDIT [2019/09/16]: After having used the doorbell for over 2 months, I have one more complaint. The eufy Security app logs me out if I don't use it for more than a few days, resulting in me missing notifications from the app. I wish there was a way for the app to tell me that it has logged me off so I know I am no longer receiving notifications.

    What a fantastic doorbell!

Prior to purchasing this one, I had a Honeywell SkyBell. My requirements for a video doorbell were always one that did not require ridiculous monthly fees (ie, NO fees), solid motion detection and an intuitive app for viewing prior recording and live view.

The SkyBell checked the first box, but failed on the second two- motion detection was terrible and the app was very clunky. Pulling live video from the app was impossible unless I was on local wifi.

After tolerating the SkyBell for a few months, I saw the Eufy doorbell for only $99- and I took a leap of faith based on my prior experiences with Eufy products. I sold the SkyBell on eBay and fully recouped my cost and some (the SkyBell retails at almost twice the cost).

So what do you get for this doorbell that’s half the price of the SkyBell? Superior image, motion detection and an excellent and beautifully designed iOS app with ZERO FEES TO USE! In all honesty, I don’t know why people are buying Ring and Nest doorbells for more money and then tying themselves into a fee based model. This doorbell does everything they can do! Eufy keeps cloud based recordings and can also store video locally. Video fidelity is excellent- up to 2K. I can clearly make out details from up to 20 feet away. Night vision is very good, though I’ll admit my Arlo night vision is better and SkyBell was slightly superior. Details are a slightly lost, but I could make out faces within 10 feet- more than enough distance for anyone with ill intention.

The app is phenomenal- I mean really well done; kudos to the designers, they’ve made a very user friendly interface that’s extremely intuitive and responsive.

One of my favorite features is the motion detection. It only sends motion notifications if it recognizes a person that’s making the movement, and it’s approximately 95% accurate at doing so. The SkyBell constantly generated “false” detections from a bush blowing in the wind or the USPS truck delivering mail. The Eufy does not do this- it only detects motion for people delivering packages at the front door or annoying salespeople. The settings can be changed to have any motion detected for recording and notification, but the facial recognition works so well, I don’t know why anyone would want to change it.

Installation (probably the first thing I should have mentioned) was a breeze. I was done in less than five minutes, including removing the “dumb” doorbell. Unfortunately the builder installed door chime cannot be used, but instead you have a wireless AC chime that can be put anywhere in your home that’s within range of the doorbell- which I discovered is about 50 feet through 4 walls- pretty impressive!

All in all- I’m extremely pleased with this product! Eufy delivers again- before subscribing to a Ring or Nest for the foreseeable future, I’d strongly urge anyone to try the Eufy first and save yourself tons of money in the long run!

I did my due diligence on the Eufy Security doorbell, and *almost* pulled the trigger on the Ring (due to its popularity, and generally positive ratings). However, the Eufy appealed to me because of its internal storage, high resolution, and other very competitive features, at no additional cost or subscription.

Installation was a piece of cake. They clearly package all the individual parts, and match them up to the Steps in the installation guide. Additionally, they provide for different contingencies with installation (into different surfaces, flat or angled installation, extending doorbell wires, etc.). Everything snapped together with none of the usual surprises you find with an electrical/mechanical installation. Once you have the app downloaded, your account created (also very simple), and the doorbell installed and connected to your network, you can add it, as a device, to your app and account, where you have multiple options for customizing how you want it to work, sound, scheduled, etc.

I only had a single issue during installation. One of the final steps, is updating the firmware. My update failed multiple times. I contacted Eufy Support (by e-mail) and the response was almost immediate. They assured me it would auto-update overnight, and this morning, there it was -- updated and ready to go.

The video is insanely clear, both day and night, and defaults to a fish-eye view, which you can straighten out as an option in settings (see attached pictures). Pairing with the included electronic chime took seconds, and worked flawlessly. The chime volume (both doorbell, and paired electronic chime) are adjustable in volume, and you can change the chime sound right on the chime itself.

Other on-board options allow you to set the motion detect zone, type and parameters of notifications, set volume individually on chime and doorbell, set multiple parameters in video quality (including the distortion factor I mentioned above, as well as night vision, HDR, etc.).

I've found the sensitivity for motion alerts is perfect right out of the box (although it can be adjusted). Its AI does recognize "humans" as opposed to other possible factors I've heard set off alerts on other systems, such as rain, birds, etc. There are many other adjustable and customizable options too numerous to list here.

Obviously, I've given the Eufy doorbell a well deserved 5 stars. I'll update in a few months as to long term functionality.

I would certainly recommend this as an excellent (and price competitive) buy.

I've only had the Eufy T8200 doorbell for a day, so can't evaluate it on long term yet, however, initial

Works great and good value. It doesn’t do head to toe but if you only want to see who is at ur door. It does the job. Very clear and easy to install.

Somewhat easy to install. only issue I ran into was having to bypass the doorbell chime as when i did this the new wireless chime seemed to get messed up and kept chiming every few minutes.
I had to disconnect the the door bell again, and reinstall it to reset everything. now it works fine.
Overall the range of sensitivity is great, and you can select zones as it may recognize an emerald cedar off to the side as a person when it moves in the wind.
Good image quality, good notifiaction settings too,

5.0 out of 5 stars Great picture and build. Watch out for power issue!

I really like the high res 2K camera, best on the market and the build quality is pretty solid. Installation was easy, but I had to do some chisel work as my old doorbells were installed on slightly angled finishing trim around the door.

Still fiddling with the zones and motion sensitivity to get that right. Really like the audio options and loudness and quality of the plug in chime unit.

Bought one Eufy wired doorbell unit originally and it allowed me to set up no problem. The app indicated I had enough power. Everything seemed OK, except for a couple disconnects, which I restarted the unit and solved each time. In hindsight I think my power was a bit low.

I liked the first one so much that I ordered a second wired cam, a reconditioned one (which seemed good as new) for my back doorbell. One bit of advice is the install ID, serial number on the box of the reconditioned unit is likely not correct. Took me a few tries to realize that it was wrong. I scanned the code on the back of the actual unit and it installed correctly. Another bit of advice is to take a photo of the install QR code on your device so you have the unit number for any future unit resets as it will ask you to take pic of the QR code (hard to do once unit is installed) or enter it manually.

Installing the rear doorbell was a bit more finicky. I noticed I was having detection issues on both the front and rear door bell cameras and sometimes one or the other failed to pick up the motion. I also noticed either the front or back doorbell cams kept disconnecting, losing power.

The issue was I had enough voltage for one camera, barely enough. I was getting about 10V (see old transformer above) which seemed to allow the cam to work,, but ideally not up to the 16 volts I really needed. If you experience any issues with your cam likely the first thing to blame is power.

Once I added that second cam the draw on the power was too heavy and the camera connections kept failing. I ordered this (see red transformer above) off Amazon, of course, and even though Eufy recommended, 16-24V at 30VA I installed the 24V 40VA as I found another thread where Ankur said the larger size transformer would also work. I went with the one noted below because I have two cams and I wanted to ensure I had enough VAs for the heavier draw. Anyhow, the transformer was located outside my fuse panel and installation was quite simple to replace old underpowered unit with new 24V unit. Some transformers are located in the wall behind the old doorbell chime unit.

If you are comfortable with electrical, you can easily do this yourself, but please make sure you shut off the correct breaker that feeds your chime’s transformer unit before you touch any wiring.

Got this based on reviews and am pleasantly surprised by it. The instructions were very simple and easy to follow, set it up quickly and without issue. Picture quality is really good, both day time and night. Slight lag in video but that might very well be the wifi. Overall for the money (on sale) I highly recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Chime Voice is too low

The bell was easy to install and works with your home base.

It at one instance did not provide notification and someone was at my doorstep so not so sure as to how well it performs. Plus the voice of chime is so so low that we usually miss visitors. The bell was working loud and clear before installing this video bell.

I kind of regret installing this bell to be honest. Not a satisfied customer.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best doorbell for value.

If you have WiFi issues, including lag and latency when using this doorbell, or if you have hardware issues with the chime emitting a constant buzz, READ this.

General summary: 5/5 recommend this doorbell.
No subscription is a huge selling point. You don’t need a micro SD, though I wish internal storage was a bit larger- but it’s ok. Quality is really really nice, both day and night. I find communicating to work fairly well with minimal latency - make sure to speak up and be clear !

    WiFi Issues?
For a couple months after install, I was so upset that the latency was SO bad. It would rarely connect, take forever to review footage.. live view was so slow- it made it pointless to be honest. But I found out a couple things. The obvious is that you need a connect to your router fairly close by or a good router in general.
The second and IMPORTANT part is a bit more complicated for some but there are many YouTube videos that make it easy. This doorbell only connects to a 2.4 network. Go to your routers login page, and go to the 2.4 network settings. Make sure you set a dedicated channel: either 2, 6, or 11. 6 can work most of the time but you can try the others if you have issues. The reason for this is because the lag you’re experiencing is from conflicting neighbouring networks. Interference. Setting a dedicated channel fixed my wifi issue immediately. It works flawless now. This is a must if you have issues with wifi and live in a crowded network area.

Hardware Issue with chime buzz? READ:

It’s very easy to install this doorbell. I even did it at night with no experience prior. However, my chime was buzzing and vibrating a hum for some reason after my install. This is likely due to the voltage of the doorbell drawing more power. I used one jumper but it had this issue. I will note that I have two doorbells at my home, so I just installed the second jumper in my old chime and the buzzing went away instantly. This might be obvious to some but wasn’t clear as my system has more than one doorbell :)

    Cheers.
