    Do NOT buy these cables
These cables fail to perform their most basic function - transfer audio and video signals between components. After hooking up these Monoprice HDMI cables (SONY DVD player to Yamaha receiver, and the receiver to LG TV), I powered everything up and saw...nothing. There was no video image on my TV. I tried bypassing my Yamaha receiver by hooking up my DVD player (using this Monoprice cable) to an in-wall HDMI cable (routed to my TV) I had previously installed. A video image appeared on my TV.OK that's strange, I thought. So I tried reconnecting the DVD player and Yamaha receiver using the Monoprice cables - again, no video image. By now, I was fairly certain that my new Yamaha receiver had a defective HDMI OUT port that was not sending a video signal to my TV.As a last resort before taking my receiver to my local audio shop for repair, I tried connecting a pair of Snowkids 1.6 foot HDMI cables I had previously purchased from amazon. Voila! A video image instantly appeared on my TV screen. There appears to be some odd defect in these Monoprice cables that prevents them from processing audio/video signals when routed through home theater receivers, since they do work when directly pairing a DVD player with a TV. The cable should be a simple dummy interconnect, so go figure. Also, these 1.5 ft. cables are ridiculously bulky, with TWO fat ferrite cores (?), one on each end of the cables. The cables themselves have NO flexibility whatsoever. No one needs an HDMI cable that can withstand a Category 5 hurricane. If you plan to use these for a home theater set-up, in which the components will be pushed back close to the back of a cabinet, fughedabboutit. You will likely permanently damage the HDMI ports on your electronic components since the cables have ZERO flexibility.I have had positive experiences with Monoprice products in the past, but these cables are a big letdown. The Snowkids HDMI cables cost twice as much as the Monoprice ones, but they are well worth it.
