Space Base is a dice game where players draft ships into their Space Base.

Every turn, no matter whose turn, players harvest rewards from their Space Base, whether those rewards are an increase in your baseline income, credits for the next turn, influence or some other powerful effect that will lead you to victory.

Space Base has you involved and engaged on every player’s turn, from the first roll of the dice to the last!

When any player reaches 40 victory points, you will finish the current round so all players have the same number of turns, at which point the player with the most victory points wins!

On your turn you will roll 2 six-sided dice. All players will then claim rewards from their cards, either for each individual die or for the sum of the dice. For example, if you roll a 5 and a 6, you could claim rewards for the 5 sector and the 6 sector cards on your board, or you could claim the reward of only the 11 sector card on your board.

Importantly though, if it is not your turn, instead of gaining rewards for cards on your board, you will gain rewards for the "deployed" cards above your board.

After rewards are gained, the active player may buy a new card to place on their board, causing the card currently in that sector to be deployed above their board.

As new cards are bought and deployed your base will get better and better at a faster rate. Don't forget to score points because in the end points are what matters!

    Machi Koro in Space!
This is a spectacular game. Essentially it's an engine builder style game. Easy to learn and easy to teach. One of the best aspects of the game is the other players turns. You still get to collect resources on other players die rolls. Virtually no down time. The mechanics of the game are great. It flows very well.It has interesting cards. They are long and skinny. I think the artwork is good, but could be better. The game uses a lot the same ship design with different colors.Would have been 5 stars, but one of the dice has some flaws. It's a cloudy color, and has a big white blob in the middle of the two pips on the two side, makes it look like a three.Great game!

The first game will take you longer bit once you get the rules down this will become a quick favorite, it has for us. The diversity of strategies and the lunch of the cards plus the luck of the dice make this game so varied and a bit unpredictable. Just when you think you’re doing well those dice turn against you out your opponent gets a great card and the tables turn. So much fun!

I picked up this game based on recommendations from some gaming podcasts. I had heard it compared to Machi Koro (in terms of gameplay). Although that is s popular game, I’ve never played it so I can’t really speak on the accuracy of that comparison. What I can say is that I have really enjoyed playing this game. I have played it seven times, now, and have enjoyed every play of it. I’ve played it with both friends and family members and everyone else has liked it, too - even my wife who was really apprehensive about playing it based on the theme.
Speaking of theme, the theme of this game is very light and has nothing, really, to do with the game play of the game, so if you, like my wife, see all of these rainbow-colored spaceships and cartoony-looking illustrations, don’t let it put you off.
Game play if pretty quick, regardless of the number of people playing. This is the case because everyone can be doing things and scoring points on everyone else’s turn. The game is essentially a card-based engine-building game. For anyone not familiar with the term “engine building,” that means that you are using cards that correspond to dice rolls to score points. By adding to your sets of cards or modifying your cards, you increase your opportunities to score points and start scoring higher amounts of points later in the game. The first person to 40 points wins.
I have not, yet, picked up any of the expansions to this game, but I may do so. I think the game is very good, as is, but may get an expansion just to add more players and cards to the game.

Now obviously with any game, there is a learning curve but this one is better than most and a quick YouTube video is all you need to get started. The art and game design are great and the gameplay is awesome and my family loves this game.

Other than changing your strategy appropriately, 2, 3, 4, & 5 player games are equally good. My 10yearold loves the spaceship artwork but doesn’t get distracted by it to the point of giving me an easy win. gg!

This is a very nice dice tableau building card thing, like Machi Koro, but the card combos interact more, and it is more fun. The theme and the artwork is really weak, however, and that detracts from the game. Some of the iconography is confusing and tiny. For example, a 1mm little chain link symbol is important. Some cards have small dots in various places that mean important things. The artwork is repetitive and boring, and the space ships are insipid. Some of the terminology in the rules is confusing, and beginners always have trouble with a few confusing points. However, if you can get past that stuff, the game is really fun for most people. It doesn't seem to have a dominant strategy, and there are several fun and interesting ways to win. It even has a "YOU WIN" card that is fun. It plays pretty quickly, drives to a conclusion, and it resolves very quickly. Overall, a very good game. If it had a rework on the presentation of the rules, the graphics, and the card iconography, it would be really excellent.

Space Base is a dice rolling game where on every roll, everyone might get stuff. This game is simple to teach and to learn. You have a base with 12 slots for ships, one through twelve, all of which are corresponding to two 6 sided dice. These ships all do a variety of things. End goal is to have the most victory points. One of the ships that you can get allows you to win the game even if you don't have the most victory points, though you'll need to activate it. I've played Space Base with 3 to 5 players and had a blast (pun intended!) at any of those player counts.

So on a buy, borrow, or bury rating scale, this is a buy. The one detractor is that the ship cards can be very busy with all that is on it which can cause you to put the ship in the wrong slot if you're not paying attention. The designers should have put the slot number that each ship has on the actual ship or next to the ships instead of the corner. I know that hardcore board gamers might not like dice rolling due to chance though you can manipulate this by the ships you purchase. This game will be a cheap steal that you won't regret purchasing.

    This is a fun game.

Ranked 191st out of all board games and ranked 30th for family board games on Board Game Geek. I'd give this game a solid 9/10.

Me and my partner regularly get this game to the table. It plays quite quickly 30-40 mins for a two player game. We also play this during our monthly game nights with friends. Larger games take a little longer but are always great fun!

This game is not complex. It's a simple engine building game.

This game is fun, easy to learn, and you can play it again and again.

It might be good for 11+ and older because of reading needed and to understand complex strategy.

One thing that I really like is that even on other players' turns you do things so it's not boring just waiting to get to you.

You have 12 bases, each of them gives you something when you roll the dice if you have the right cards. Your opponent(s) get things too, from your roll.

You save up point to buy cards for your bases that improve what you can get from your die rolls. You have different paths to victory so it suits different play preferences.

It's well balanced, funny, and we've really enjoyed it. We don't have expansions, but the base game is good as it is.

Would recommend as a group game but plays well as two players also.
