I picked this game up on a random whim and, boy, did I luck out.

Admittedly, I was a little underwhelmed for the first few minutes as the initial story got underway, but within a couple hours I discovered just how interesting and fun the environment, characters, and action were. I played a little every few days, until I eventually made it about 70% of the way through when the complete addiction really kicked in with explosive action.

From that point onward, I logged a ridiculous number of hours (for me) every night until I reached the crescendos of riveting excitement in the final final final stretch of this rich and deeply rewarding game. I had an involuntary smile for days afterward.

My husband and I play this together and it is a great game for us. We are able to play cooperatively as opposed to competitively. I'm not a long time gamer so that is a particular bonus for me! The fighting mechanics are easy to understand and turn-based action means you can take the time you need to figure out what to do. The good plotline and the many side quests keep it from being a forced march through objectives. If you liked Divinity 1, you'll like this. If you happen to have a non-gamer that you would like to game with or are a non-gamer and would like to figure out what all the fuss is, this is for you!

This game is very very very good. But it's really old school in how you progress. Doing the simplest of tasks could take you hours. Leveling up once takes an eternity, but the thing is you won't care. The game is that engrossing. You will turn this game on in the morning & suddenly, it's midnight. I've never had a game enthrall me as much as this one to where I just forget about everything else. But that's why I'm docking it one star, because it's almost impossible for me to put down. I have a life, you know... But this game sucks you in and you just wanna keep playing, for eternity...

This game is definitely a huge improvement over the first one in pretty much every way possible. The first game was fun, but definitely had its problems (I could not get into the plot at all). This game does a great job of worked in the first game and refines it. Highlights include the fact that the plot is more in depth, the character interactions are better, and the combat is more intuitive. Other aspects such as a more indepth character creator and better multiplayer are just icing on the cake. If your a fan of old school bioware games (ie Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights) do yourself a favor and buy this game. You will not be disappointed and it may give you faith in the video game industry again.

What an incredible game. I’m playing it couch co-op with a friend and the system is so easy to use and we haven’t had this much fun playing a game in a long time. This port has clearly been thoroughly redesigned with co-op in mind, and it shows.

Load times are a little long, but I have the first generation Xbox One so I don’t think it’s as big of a problem on the beefier systems.

The world is beautiful and interesting, and the storytelling is top-notch. I think this is the best combat system in any RPG, and it’s still a ton of fun to experiment with spells and skills, even 40+ hours into the game.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game, just don't play the PC version before playing it on console.

The game is as close to RPG perfection as it gets. The only knock is that it's a game made for mouse and keyboard in mind and a controller just doesn't do it much justice. I've had issues clicking on smaller characters, for instance, my character with the summoning skills often suppons an imp, but clicking on it after to infuse it with additional buffs can be a nightmare if that tiny character is on a crowded battlefield. It's a same this game does not support mouse and keyboard on xbox. I read somehere that it was too far in the development process when mouse support became a thing. It's really a great game though, even with a controller and no mouse support. It can be insanely hard because there are limited enemies, you can't just go off path and grind to level up. How you distribute your skill points and attributes is crucial, luckily if you mess up you can respec after Act 1. Larian Studios is the new Bioware in my eyes, they polish their games to the point where you can see your reflection. I am eagerly anticipating Baldur's Gate 3.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good game but not a great game

Older games will probably remember Baldur's Gate, and this game is quite similar in a number of ways. Pros: it has a great class system and the combat mechanics are terrific, probably among the best of any game I've played. Cons: It's quite challenging, even on medium difficulty, and the difficulty isn't helped much by the fact that it's quite buggy. If you choose poorly in character creation, too, it can basically make the game unplayable, forcing you to start again. In spite of these problems, I'm enjoying it right now, even after ten hours of play.
