A Great Solution for Health Metric Tracking
I just replaced my Fitbit Charge 2 (after 4 years) with the Charge 3 and I love it. I read the Amazon reviews before I bought and I found some of the old reviews (2018) are simply NOT correct. Several say the face clock doesn't provide the date - incorrect! I provided a picture to demonstrate this is false. The battery is longer on the Charge 3 and has lasted up to 7 days, although I typically charge it while I'm in the shower when I want to juice it up. Several other reviews give lower stars because the Charge 3 is not like their previous Fitbit (diff model) - well guess what, that is why they have so many different products to choose from. The best way to find the Fitbit product best for you is to go to Fitbit.com/compare and use the "Select top feature" drop down and select the most important features you are interested in having... this will show you which product to choose. Here is what was important to me... 1) Steps 2) Sleet tracking and stages, 3) Reminders to Move, 4) Hourly activity, 5) Swim proof and tracking, 6) Cardio Fitness Level, 7) Call, Text, calendar, and smartphone app Notifications. With these features, I had 4 products to choose from. I went with the Charge 3 because I really liked my Charge 2. Charge 3 has a longer battery and other additional features besides what I already listed that I'm sure I will learn to use. One of my favorite features is the ability to set how many steps you want to get in each hour. If I haven't completed my steps each hour, I get a notification that I need 52 more steps, etc... to meet my goal. It's so easy to get busy that this is simply a great reminder! It is so much easier to meet my daily goals when I start early each day. My other favorite thing is the Fitbit app, website and health tips newsletters via email. These tools unlock insights and inspirations. A friend told me she was going to get a Dr appointment to check for sleep issues - I asked her if she had looked at the Sleep tracking and information available on the App/Website and after looking at this info she decided she didn't need a Dr appointment. Information is powerful - make sure you are aware of all the data Fitbit provides at your fingertips! I've have experienced a few problems with syncing, but primarily when I fly and change time zones. A simple solution that has worked for me is to plug in Fitbit to recharge and that seems to fix it for me. I have to say this is the same for ANY Bluetooth syncing device, not just my Fitbit. Another tip is there are lots of bands available for the Fitbit on Amazon and other places for very reasonable prices, so you can change the color/band to give you diff styles for working out vs an evening out. Enjoy!

I’ve used this for about a year now and and it has generally been great. I have had other fitbits in the past and tried an Apple Watch out for a bit too before I bought it. In the end I didn’t want a full smart watch on my wrist, just a waterproof watch and step tracker and this fits that exactly. After a year of constant use and syncing, it gets a little under 2 weeks of battery life before needing to charge, and charges in less than an hour. The display remains bright and can be seen outside, although in bright direct sun it’s harder to read, but still legible. The step tracking does a good job, it does a better job than my phone and about the same as other Wrist trackers used, I don’t doubt that it’s number is as close as can be expected from a watch. I find myself using the silent alarms more and more, they vibrate to alert you and I find it’s enough to wake me up daily. Heart rate is nice and works, and the display has some options for what you see on the face which is helpful as some people will like the larger font size, and some people want all the info up front. I am still on my first band after a year which is also a huge improvement over the last few models. Some less good points: getting notifications from the phone isn’t 100%, more like 80% which is to say it usually works but not always. Syncing with the app is smooth and the interface is decent, but again I frequently manually refresh it to get it going as the delay can be annoying. Also the rotate up to see the time is annoying at night, but it’s a setting that can be turn on and off so that’s not a big deal.

So to sum up, the basic functions all work great, and if you are looking for something a little simplistic with some great hidden add ons to grow into, this should probably be on your list. It is an excellent value for what it is.

I had high hopes for my Fitbit Charge 3 based on company advertising and what I could glean from their website. Unfortunately, my response to the product at this point can be best described as "meh," because several things were not as I would have expected:

1. While the heart rate measurement is usually close to other accurate instruments I have to use for comparison, such as my Kardia and other measurement equipment at the gym, my Fitbit is sometimes inexplicably off by as much as 20-30 bpm. It's not frequent, but troubling nonetheless.
2. The SpO2 blood oxygen sensor doesn't do what you would expect. While other smart watches give you a blood oxygen level reading when you want it, the Fitbit Charge 3 doesn't. All you can get is high-level aggregate data as part of a sleep analysis. So, if you want to keep an eye on your O2 levels in your workout like I did, prepare to be greatly disappointed.
3. The app disappoints, which is a significant consideration given that you have a pay a substantial on-going fee to use all of it. I was previously using just my iPhone and Apple Health to track general activity. As a whole, I find it easier to input and track my activity in Apple Health than in the Fitbit app. For example, if I spend some time on the treadmill, the process for adding this data manually is harder in the Fitbit app than it should be.
4. Sleep analysis in the app is not worth the premium service fee. As an example of why I feel that way about it, if I go to sleep at 9:30pm and get up 12:15am to use the bathroom, it doesn't count that as me having slept and won't let me see any sleep analysis for that period despite the fact that I slept the whole time. Then if I go back to sleep for another 4.5 hours, it thinks that I only slept 4.5 hours that night when I actually slept closer to 7.5. Why would I pay premium service charges when it can't even figure out when I'm sleeping?
5. Stair counting is off. My iPhone does a remarkably good job of it. The Fitbit Charge 3, not so much.

If you're considering buying, don't just take my word for it. Search their user community forum and you'll find lots of people talking about these issues without any sort of meaningful response from Fitbit. Having spent my career working in the technology space, I have to confess that, as a whole, their management of user community concerns is not what I'd expect from a market leader.

On the plus side, the Fitbit Charge 3 is an "OK" product that you can accessorize with third-party bands and screen protectors. It has some handy "smart watch" features that you could get in a much cheaper device. The base app, though disappointing, is still better than those available for some of the cheap knock-offs.

As a whole, it does not live up to my expectations based on the price-point, nor does it or provide the functionality that a reasonable consumer would expect from looking at their website, such as blood oxygen level readings when you're working out. There are cheaper devices that offer this, so why Fitbit is behind the curve on this, I can't fathom. It isn't the behavior of a market leader. And, even if you pay the premium on-going fees, the app still can't even figure out when I'm actually sleeping.

All said, I find the Fitbit Charge 3 to be an overpriced, mediocre smart watch with watch functionality lagging behind that of cheaper competitors. I give it 3 out of 5 based on functionality and cost, but an extra +1 star simply because the phone apps of competing knock-offs are even worse in comparison. I feel like if all you want is the smart watch itself, the Fitbit Charge 3 is over-priced and you might be better served by a cheaper brand that will actually give you oxygen readings on-demand. The app is still better than what the knock-offs offer, though, so in making your decision about what type of smart watch to get, you might have to make a trade-off between watch functionality on your wrist (O2 etc.) versus the phone app's reliability.

Me encantó!

First off, I received the product in just a week which was amazing considering that it ships from so far! So thanks a lot for the quick delivery! Next, the device itself is amazing. Given that I just got it, it is just awesome. It is so light on the hand you dont even feel like you are wearing it plus its very comfy. I just hope it can last a long time and give as little problems as possible XD
